Something About Nothing............ #14

Greetings from IOA. I am waiting for B to ride something.
This morning she wanted Voodoo Donuts. When we go there we found a family from our little home town. One of them was wearing a shirt with a business name on it and I noticed the business phone number had our area code. It really is a small world sometimes.

The forecast is calling for snow all afternoon, evening and night.
I know you’re in Canada, but it still seems too early for snow.

How often do most have their nails done?
For me it’s never. I only had my nails done once in my life and that was for my wedding.

B wants to eat at one of the HP restaurants but hasn’t chosen which one. We haven’t eaten anything since those donuts. I’m not having donuts for breakfast again. It was feeling a little miserable most of the morning.

We ended up eating at The Three Broomsticks. The food was better than I remembered and the portions were a decent size - not super huge like most Americans are used to.

We went to Olivander’s and B was chosen for the wand ceremony. She was thrilled.

I am exhausted and we have 2 more days here.

Today’s observation - I’m waiting for B to ride Velocicoaster. There is a tiny snake on the ground near me. Another guest is trying to get it to crawl onto a leaf so he can pick it up and move it into a planter so it won’t get stepped on. The guest is wearing a Slytherin lanyard.

TGIF :cheer2: was off sick yesterday. Had a migraine and called in sick for the day. I refuse to push myself anymore when I have my migraines.

Busyish day today. At least there is no rushing and trying to squeeze in an emergency pt.

Another cool/cold morning. The little bit of snow we got over the past day and a bit - is kind of sticking around. I mean it is mid November in Northern Canada - so snow is inevitable :rolleyes2 I'm already dreaming of warmer climates.

Whipped up some delicious roasted tomato and pepper bisque and grilled cheese for dinner last night. It turned out fantastic. It was soooooooooo easy - I won't do it any other way anymore. The boys cleaned out the pot and didn't leave even a little bit dh to have a taste  He was out as he had a big meeting/conference he was attending in town.

I took out some chicken breasts for dinner tonight. Not sure what I'm going to do with them, but I'm sure I'll think of something to do with them.
How often do most have their nails done?
I get mine filled ( the part that is grown out ) every 4 weeks with a fresh new color(s). I have what I call " man hands". Having my nails done makes them look a little more feminine. My natural nails have never been strong or grow long.

Wonder is that guest speaks parseltoungue :rolleyes1 I hope your having a great time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's great she got picked for the wand experience! I was hoping our boys would have been picked....but at the last minute they added a 2 guests and one was a child with a birthday button. I seem them outside as they were twins and took them in separate AND multiple times so that they would be choosen :rolleyes2. There is something about people doing this, that just make me :furious: Seriously, people need to teach their children to deal with disappointment. It's not so " special" when you get into line 4, 5 times or more to be " picked". And isn't fair to those who are go to the show, to enjoy the magic of it - hoping they will "chosen" and won't be picked because you keep going to shows to be ' chosen". UGH!!!! Sorry for the rant.

Well, off to get a few things organized for next week. I am training a new gal from the systemic desk for the next 2 weeks.

Have a great day everyone!!!!!!!!!

Fabulous Friday here.

Venti coffee, and a stop at Sprouts for some baked goods, and back home this late morning. DH and little one are at his doctor’s appointment, so I get to enjoy this glorious sunny and not as cold as I thought Friday.

58 the high, so little one is in shorts. Yep, we are a Northern family, and any temp 50 or above, you will see many wearing shorts in our area. Oh heck, older one is one that wears shorts even at a lower temp than 50 degrees. But not me. Though do have on lightweight sweatpants on me, and a t shirt. No jackets needed during the day. Woot! Mid November, glorious sunny and clear sky, with close to 60 degrees day. Will take it every day the rest of this month. And we have had such little rain this Fall, drought warnings issued. Fire watches too.

And yep:

In defense of those parents, having been one, my youngest and I were on a special trip because her siblings had some issues that had required a lot of my attention over the past couple years. Her older sister had been chosen in the past on the first try -- actually, their brother was chosen, but he gave it up to her, knowing she cared more. It was my youngest child's dream that she too would be chosen, and she would finally get her own personal wand, just like her sister.

We went through seven times in a row. We were those people. She stood eagerly, patiently, and was not chosen. Adults in robes were chosen. Finally, she was. It made her so happy. That was January 2020. Like everyone else, she had a difficult 2020-2021. I do not regret waiting in line seven times. She did not deny anyone their chance to be chosen, we just watched the show many times, when the line was so short that we would go straight back in most of the time, which was a pretty cool experience until about the fifth time.

We have to go home tomorrow. Today we took it easy. This morning we slept in and then B went swimming while I stayed in the room and watched TV. Then we had a quick lunch and went bowling. B was getting really frustrated with how poorly she was bowling. I guess the guy 2 lanes over was trying to cheer her up. He bought her a Shirley Temple.
We then went to the park to see the parade only to find out that the last one was yesterday and they will be switching over to the Christmas parade next week. We were both bummed.

Hit send too soon.

We were sort of guilty of that. We didn’t go in over and over again, but we did go to the wand ceremony in each park on the same day. Fortunately the second time was the charm.

We were able to go into the new Wicked experience today. Here are some pictures.

Looks like you have had a wonderful trip together. Wonderful to make memories like this.

I haven’t been reading or posting for such a long time.

My wonderful daughter Em was diagnosed with cancer 18 months ago and our world imploded. It’s a complex diagnosis and we’ve been in some tough times but she is amazingly positive and we all keep ourselves pushing forward to try and alleviate stress for her two children.

J still asks when will we be able to return to Disney and of course we say as soon as we can we will be onto it!

We did manage a trip to Wales in the summer and my son and grandson too so a privilege for us all to be together.

I will try and scan a few more threads but in the meantime send everyone positive energy and best wishes xxx

November 19 Disney will live stream on Disney + I guess ,
The Inauguration Ceremony for newest Disney Cruise Ship
8:00 p.m. ET in Florida and usually the stream is available for 24 hours

Later NBC 9 or 10 p.m. will show a special one hour documentary about the journey to making Wicked Movie and then will stream on Paramount (?) .

Hey all

Taking the evening off, packed off the Dave’s to a Pens game earlier. Still deciding if i want to watch a chick flick or read a book.

Up late last night with the fight on Netflix. Marveled at Iron Mike, not much younger than me, hung in there. Can’t wait to see Mr Paul’s team pick somebody for a match who is in their prime & a real contender.

Dinner was at the Bayliner Diner. Decent food. Large portions.
We had no complaints, thot it better quality and variety than the WDW values’ current offerings. GD loves their Cuban sandwich.
Had to scrape some ice off my car window. Sigh.
Ugh. Only one night dipped below freezing here so far. Can’t complain, even tho cooler, day temps in 60’s & 50’s. it’s been overcast/light rain for days. In severe drought area, need all we can get
I started another page on the trip report
Knew there was something I wanted to check out
How often do most have their nails done?
Never, unless I’m slapping on the paint myself. Actually, enjoy the process
It really is a small world sometimes.
Seriously, what are the odds of that?
There is a tiny snake on the ground near me.
Ha, nearly every trip, we see one slithering around. I no long will sit on any wall/planter box in the parks…snake condos lol
I refuse to push myself anymore when I have my migraines.
Smart. I was prescribed an RX to try a good 6 months ago to try for what I’m told my headaches had become at times.

Would you believe I’ve only had one of those really bad ones since? Haven’t even tried the med yet lol. Works for me
I have what I call " man hands".
Nothing wrong with a woman using their hands to work hard in my book. Oddly, I’m short-ish but, big-boned. Still managed to have tiny fingers and hands. Go figure lol
It's not so " special" when you get into line 4, 5 times or more to be " picked".
It never occurred to me to stand in line more than once with each kid/GD. I mean it was a nice presentation, they were a bit disappointed to not get picked…especially, when it was an adult who was.

They didn’t ask to do it again though. All perked up nicely when they simply picked out their own wand, all knew exactly which one they wanted before we even got there.

My thots on repeated run thru’s, something for everyone, have at it…at least it keeps people out of the standby line for Hagrid lol.
The Inauguration Ceremony for newest Disney Cruise Ship
We were big DCL cruisers until it hit us we could do 2-3 cruises on other lines for same $.

big disneyphiles, just don’t get the same “fix” on their ships as in the parks as many do to point, they no longer visit them.

Again, I file that under something for everyone.

I step away from the boards and miss all the chatter going on here…
Love reading what many of you are doing.

Ended up eating at Taco Belle for dinner as it was Mr Mac’s turn to choose what’s for dinner this evening.

I am going to stop asking Mr Mac what place does he want for dinner.
Tired of TB….

I swear that man could eat there daily….

I have a hunch he will want pizza for tomorrow’s dinner.

Watching the Tennessee/Georgia football ball game as not much else on tv tonight.

I always loose the toss of tv channel every Saturday night
lol.

Weather in my area has been fine but never really know when that could change.
Hopefully weather will still be warm for another week.

The mr last night, roles usually reversed. I gave up on movie and followed him down that path.

Waiting for him to wake up for last 3 hours lol. Might be time to go kick the bed. He’s pushing it on getting a big breakfast, may just make a yogurt parfait for myself and he can have cereal.

Today, we (meaning he) raise the christmas tree. Only doing one this year. Probably just lights, it’s pre lit but we always add more. The decorations will be placed as the spirit moves us over the next day or so…there will be zero decorating while the football game is on the tube.

There is truly something magical about it, can’t wait to see its happy glow tonight. Funny how something so simple can give such joy.

Dinner is a mystery, finally see the sun again here. May just fish some steaks out of the freezer and grill them up between football games today.

Have a great day all.

We made it back home yesterday afternoon. Ugh. Back to reality. I am not planning to do much of anything today. I just finished paying some bills. Once all the trip charges clear my credit card then I will pay that bill as well.

(Start planning a second trip!!)
I am hoping that Universal will do a soft opening for pass holders for Epic Universe. If they do, I will try my best to go. otherwise, the next Universal trip is planned for January 2026 so that dh will be able to go. We also have a Disney trip scheduled for March 2025.

My wonderful daughter Em was diagnosed with cancer 18 months ago and our world imploded. It’s a complex diagnosis and we’ve been in some tough times but she is amazingly positive and we all keep ourselves pushing forward to try and alleviate stress for her two children.
It is good to hear from you again. Prayers for your daughter and family. It is great that you are there to support both her and your grandchildren. I really empathize with the children. I was once in that position myself.

Watching the Tennessee/Georgia football ball game as not much else on tv tonight.
Dh had that on last night. I fell asleep during the game.

It's almost 10:00 and I am the only one awake. Maybe I should go back to bed.
