Something About Nothing............ #14

Sending good wishes and mummy dust and good recovery for your wife.
I had the stripping of a vein before and it’s tough the first night or two after that surgery, but healing will take time.

She will feel much better after she starts to heal from it.

Looks like another week of 100 degree plus temp index and intermittent sprinkles and monsoons here.

DW has finally cracked her leg pain after a half dozen specialist over two years and minor surgery should correct it. Valve in a leg vein is messed up somehow. The had a huge clot after covid and it did the same until removed. She's a beast though, she still averaged over 15000 steps on park day and 5 to 10K regular days until 2 weeks ago.
Found a crowd cow type farm that sells Angus, Wangus and Wagyu in 1/8 to whole cow for 6.95 to 9.95 a pound hanging weight so it's time to restock the freezer. No tacos today though.

Hope Mrs DJ feels better soon, she`ll feel great relief afterwards.

Good Wednesday morning from another sunny day here! Fog earlier but now we have a beautiful morning, still a little eerie out to sea, that`ll clear in no time with the heat of the sun coming through.

No walking this morning, I have an appointment at 9.30, will be out by 10ish then plan to do a little shopping, still have a couple of birthday gifts to purchase for Aug/Sept and then out for lunch with some of the Wednesday group, seems to be all ladies today as our men are busy in one way or another. I think it`s a cafe bar we`re going to, but driving today so no glass of wine for me. Then, hopefully an afternoon sitting in the garden with my book.

Dentist tomorrow, not till late afternoon, I much prefer those appointments early in the day!

Early cuppa for me so far, but we`ll be out fairly early, not a long drive but parking is never easy at this place.

Have a lovely Wednesday :sunny:

Ah that mid week day, and here’s that camel again:

IMG_3595.jpeg

Yep, the day we feel like get over this hump of a day feeling, and woot! Fabulous Friday a day away then. Wonder Wednesday to all, and a rainy day one for us. Overcast and so muggy out when commuting this morning.

Hair salon visit tomorrow, hoping not as much traffic as have that appointment after I leave the office. So late arrival at home. Then happy to have that extra day weekend feeling this week. Train rides time coming up soon. Woot!

Hump day!!! And the weekend is on the horizon

Woke up to rain this morning. Which is great - as we needed a little rain. But my feet were silently crying as I put socks on this morning. No dresses with my little dressy sandals for today. It's pants and a sweater/cardigan today.

Busier night last night. Dh and I headed to his sister's house for dh to start running the wire for her a/c his company is coming to install. Ds's were supposed to help him and he would " over see" the project - and then he needed to send both boys out of town for work so dh is left to do the job himself . Long story short - we ended up going out for dinner then a stop at home depot to pick up the needed supplies - then it was too late for him to start. Tonight, he will run the wire and get in wired into her panel - hopefully with the help of his brother who is here visiting.

We came home, dh went to bed (as he's up to be at work for 5:00am :faint:) and I sat up with the remote and read a book!

Has anyone read and then watched the tv adaptation of the book " The Tattooist of Auschwitz" . I finished watching it last night. It was a hard watch for me. As an empath - it is hard to watch things like that, so I could only watch one or two parts then turn it off to resume another day. I highly recommend it.

.I always think of that joke about why pay lots of dollars for a colon cleanse when you can go to TB for $5 and get the same result :rotfl:

I still haven`t tried Poutine.....one of these days I will.
I think the same thing!!!! Not everyone likes poutine - and I would never even attempt to try to ones that are in Florida. When I watch youtube videos and they review poutine - the Canadians are up in arms....as it's not the same poutine we have. I do want to travel to Quebec and try the traditional poutines there - as it's known that Quebec has the best!
DW has finally cracked her leg pain after a half dozen specialist over two years and minor surgery should correct it.
That must have been horrible! It's great she has found the source of the pain and will get relief. I hope she has a quick healing time - and is back to walking the parks again soon.
No walking this morning
It sounds like you have a busy day!!!! And what better way to spend part of the day - than being outside reading a book!

Have a great appointment at the salon. It always feels great to have a haircut - even if it's just a trim. Enjoy your extra long weekend!

Well, I should get some tasks ticked off my to-do list today :surfweb:

Have a great day everyone!

Good Wednesday morning everyone :wave2:

Saw a few au natural women last trip. Seriously, I get itchy just thinking about that. Pretty sure if a dude I'd have at it
I had to chuckle reading this. You wonder what folks are thinking. I saw a few of those standing in line for the haunted Houses last year at HHN.

Beautiful and not too far away from us, we could have walked from the back of our place, but she took us the long way round to the car park!!!! However, we were deep in the trees to get to the darn things. Tom and I wander up there walking, but never knew all those bramble bushes were there.
Sounds like a nice day with your friend picking berries. I had to look up what damsons are.

We had a great weekend in the city with dd and gd. It must have been at least 105F 41C the day we went to the midway/fair. It was scorching hot - but we took breaks to cool off and drink / hydrate. It was fun - but also made me decide to buy myself a neck fan for our trip in Oct. Gd was a hoot and had a blast. WE had fun riding all the kiddie rides we could with her and had lots of tasty treats!
So good to hear you had nice time with your family.

Didn`t start off that way, fog had rolled in from the sea overnight, although still muggy we both slept really well. Quick walk this morning as it was cold, windy and no sunshine, now it is glorious.
Glad to hear you weather is improving so you can enjoy the day.

lol.....I always think of that joke about why pay lots of dollars for a colon cleanse when you can go to TB for $5 and get the same result :rotfl:
Yep, I have heard the same thing….its funny. A guy told me its the red sauce..LOL…whatever works

Sorry to hear your wife has had such a hard time getting her leg problem diagnosed. That is so frustrating. Glad to hear she has been able to find Doc that found the issue and is going to fix it. Wishing her the best.

Enjoying my coffee in my HHN cup this morning. The sun is shinning and it is going to be in the upper 80’s.

I watched little J yesterday. It was a beautiful day. I took him to the splash pad for a little while. He had a great time. What a happy little fella. We did make our visit to Starbucks at Target so he could get his favorite cookie and of course I did get a coffee. He is the best little shopper.

We have the construction company showing up to start tearing out the driveway tomorrow. It is a long time coming for this project. We have put it off a number of times over the years, but it needs to get it taken care of now. It’s a long driveway so it will be a big mess for sure.

Hubby had to interview a number of contractors until he settled on this one. Didn’t know it was so complicated to find a contractor to do this work.

Need to do a few things indoors and outdoors today. So that will keep me busy for a little while.

Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone.

Dance like no one’s watching, sing like no one’s listening and live like there is no tomorrow.

We have the opposite today Pumpkin, hot and a little muggy, hope it changes for you soon.

I haven`t seen that show, nor could I. Hope you get through it though, it is highly thought of as a drama.

Yes, I`ve heard it`s not great in Orlando, maybe some day I`ll get to try it.

Have a lovely day.

Damsons, yes, we have so many different names for things, it`s so weird at times, they are lovely and enhance plain old gin to something extra special.

Someone from the Club Lounge once told me her dad was a buyer for TB at one point, and he wouldn`t let them eat the food from there, told me a lot!! But, it`s popular, so I guess it`s doing something right.

Oh I feel your pain with the driveway, we got ours done a couple of years ago, we also have a very long driveway and it took longer than we thought, but happy with the result. We did have to have the gate raised slightly, that delayed the job slightly, but worth it. We were very lucky, the firm we used are local, so we knew their work and they came highly recommended.

Glad you had some nice time with the little guy again!!

Warm and muggy today.

Lunch was nice with the ladies, but wouldn`t go back to the place we went, staff weren`t the happiest, but sandwiches were lovely and a very decent pot of tea.

Spent the afternoon catching up on some emails, TR and cleared out some drawers, popped a load of pajamas that haven`t been out of the drawer for a while into the washing machine for a freshen up, forgot I had so many pajamas, but all dry again now.

Making spicy bbq pork chopes for tonight, Tom will grill them and usual sides to go with it, made up some veggie skewers as we picked up some lovely produce from the farm store, huge mushrooms and some yellow courgettes. Nice.

Afternoon has passed so quickly.

I do hope everyone does have a Happy new Year.

mac, since she started this thread in April 11, 2004 has always welcomed everyone on it as family and she never misses giving someone a welcome when they do join....this is her thread and we all love the way she makes this thread a nice, happy place to post. Her one rule is "play nice"

Back in 2004 there was MACRAVEN, KEISHASHADOW and DAMO who started the thread along with KEW80. The thread built and built on folks posting.....something about nothing.......

And this year she asked me if I would help and list some of the folks that used to post. And we do miss their posts.......

Hello Macraven,

Hello Macraven, Haven’t posted in a long time. I used to back in the day of SpideyHulk, Flyfly_Eclipse, The Dark Marauder to name a few. Flyfly used to post about The Ghostbusters show and she loved the Orange one!! Will be staying at The Royal Pacific Resort next week. Looking forward , now with grandchildren!! 😅😍

Kyle is coming for lunch
I know you are always happy for Kyle to show up for lunch and it's great his office is so close.
I always think of that joke about why pay lots of dollars for a colon cleanse when you can go to TB for $5
:rotfl2:Yep!
followed by cornish ice cream
Okay, I have to ask what cornish ice cream is? I love ice cream and have never heard of that one:)
DW has finally cracked her leg pain after a half dozen specialist
That's so frustrating to go through all that for a diagnosis and help! It took me 4 years and 3 specialists and an attorney to get my diagnosis. Glad she is getting better.
It’s leftovers tonight for our dinner.
Quite enjoy not having to cook and just heat up all the odds and ends in the fridge.
Leftovers are my absolute favorite supper. I always try to fix more than enough so we can do that.
then out for lunch with some of the Wednesday group,
That sounds like fun, Carole. There is a daily coffee group of ladies at our favorite restaurant. I stop by when I can and they are always a riot!
Dentist tomorrow, not till late afternoon, I much prefer those appointments early in the day!
I hate afternoon appointments and always try to get as early as possible too. Have a good day tomorrow (an oxymoron remark:)

Making spicy bbq pork chopes for tonight
Sounds good Carole. I have tried all the different marinade recipes you have given me for pork chops and chicken and we love them all. I don't make them as spicy as you do because both of us can't tolerate spicy food anymore.

I have been away for a while due to an unexpected bout of flu. I was sick for a few days - mostly very tired with upset stomach. Must be something going around again? So I am catching up on things I have let go around here. I also am enjoying the beautiful weather we have been having - low 70's and sunny with low humidity. I know I am bragging on the weather, but I can only do that a few weeks of the summer, LOL.

Today was Mom's day at the stores and eating out at her favorite restaurant. I took her to the doctor yesterday for cortisone shots in her shoulders. She has bilateral rotator cuff tears that can't be operated on due to her age. So she gets the shots every 3 months. She never complains and insists on doing most everything around her apartment. She is always in a good mood which is amazing. I get grumpy if I have a mild cold!

We celebrated one of my grandson's 18th birthday last weekend (or the family did - I stayed home so I didn't give the flu to others). He is a senior this year in HS, and will soon be working towards a career. It seems like only yesterday that he was a little boy!

This weekend we will be at a WoodCarving event in a small town north of here. My husband and daughter Robin have a wood carving business and will have a booth at the event. It's a fun event with lots of vendors and good food in a small town atmosphere.

I hope everyone has a good week.

Hey all.

Youngest DS over for breakfast on way to work. Working thru the garden produce. had airfried zucchini fingers (sticks but fingers sounds much more interesting) & a nice salad using cukes, peppers & cherry tomatoes picked this AM. Rest of day “ridding up”, tomorrow a deep clean of main level of house, celebrating the two oldest DSs BD on Saturday. I should sleep good tonight. Thot I’d drive by here before I hit the pool for a quick dip.

Lynne - how many days till D-23? I added the new genie+/LL to our tix there for end of August. Haven’t used at WDW. I really need to take a good look at it to figure out how to actually use it, well.

Pumpkin - oh, Lord, poutine is more miss than hit here I’m afraid. Had insisted I hated it, after trying multiple times. Always reminded me of texture of a huge hunk of cottage cheese…to which beef gravy & fries should never mingle IMO. Then I had it made correctly at a food festival here.

Charade - those scam calls just seem to be getting more inventive.
Blackberries and some early damsons to add to gin
Cheers! My brain went to

Now i need to google that word

Good luck @ the dentist tomorrow

DW has finally cracked her leg pain after a half dozen specialist over two years and minor surgery should correct it
Ouch! I’m wincing for her. Hope it goes well for her as to a speedy recovery.

That seems like a very good price on a side of beef.
Didn’t know it was so complicated to find a contractor to do this work.
At times, even more so to get them to come back after cashing that first check to do the work. Seems like every few weeks a story in local newspaper wherein somebody paid up front for a job. Such a shame there is that bad element out there among people just trying to ply their crafts honestly
Come to my house for dinner tonight, roasted hen night.

See all of you at 6:00.
Darn it! Any leftovers?
It took me 4 years and 3 specialists and an attorney to get my diagnosis. Glad she is getting better.
Wow
Leftovers are my absolute favorite supper
I second that!
I have been away for a while due to an unexpected bout of flu. I was sick for a few days - mostly very tired with upset stomach.
Uhoh, good to hear you are back in the groove. No fun to get sick in the summer
She never complains and insists on doing most everything around her apartment. She is always in a good mood which is amazing. I get grumpy if I have a mild cold!
Lucky there she is so pleasant and happy
He is a senior this year in HS, and will soon be working towards a career. It seems like only yesterday that he was a little boy!
I’m convinced grandchildren grow even faster than one’s kids. How many grandkids do you have?

You are so lucky, Robo, to be able to see your little J a lot. He sounds like he is a fun little guy:)
He is. He is a blessing to me. My grandchildren are all grown up and it is so special to get to spend time with little J.

Today was Mom's day at the stores and eating out at her favorite restaurant. I took her to the doctor yesterday for cortisone shots in her shoulders. I hope your mom is getting some relief from the shoulder pain with the cortisone shots. She sounds like a tough one to be able to handle the discomforts at her age and it is wonderful that she has a happy spirit.

Hubby has been retired for 24 years and a lot of the contractors he knew are retired also. So he had to do a bit of research to find this guys company. Hubby will keep an eye on the project to make sure things are going as planned.

Up much to early this morning. Have a headache so needed to get up and take something to get some relief.

Worked a little on TR so think I will try and go back to bed. This will be a sleep in morning today. No plans for the day so that will work.

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone.

A lot of great days back then!

It is ours too!! Will be our 17th visit. Hoping for an upgrade 😍😎. Thank you. We are flying tomorrow staying at the Walt Disney World Dolphin for 5 days to do the Disney Parks first then a full 12 days at Universal/IOA!! We did manage a trip just before the pandemic in 2019 and is the longest gap between trips to Orlando. So super excited!!

Come to my house for dinner tonight, roasted hen night.

See all of you at 6:00.

Hope the chicken was lovely mac!!!

Made with clotted cream Ruth, probably the most gorgeous cream of all!!! Not diet friendly at all lol...

It`s handy his office is so close, we think we`re lucky he only lives 20 minutes away too, close enough but far enough at the same time.

Yes, dental appointments should always be as early in the day as possible! The actual implant appointments are both after 5pm, torture days with the waiting!

Glad you liked the recipes and glad mum did well after her injection. And you brag away with your weather, with the winters you get you are more than entitled!!

I can certainly vouch for your daughters and husband`s quality of work, everyone admired the Christmas ornaments you gave me, sounds like a fun event for them to be.

Have a good one Ruth.

Now i need to google that word

Good luck @ the dentist tomorrow

Ouch! I’m wincing for her. Hope it goes well for her as to a speedy recovery.

That seems like a very good price on a side of beef.

At times, even more so to get them to come back after cashing that first check to do the work. Seems like every few weeks a story in local newspaper wherein somebody paid up front for a job. Such a shame there is that bad element out there among people just trying to ply their crafts honestly

Darn it! Any leftovers?

Wow

I second that!

Uhoh, good to hear you are back in the groove. No fun to get sick in the summer

Lucky there she is so pleasant and happy

I’m convinced grandchildren grow even faster than one’s kids. How many grandkids do you have?

lol....love a good sloe gin and damsons are perfect for that! Yes, I can see the Cheers connection!! I actually thought oh heck he`s died when I saw his picture.....lol.

Food sounds good!! Thanks, will try to be on my best behaviour, at least no impressions today.

Good Thursday morning everyone :wave2:

Will be glad to get it over with. Just hope they show up this morning and get things started on time.

He is. He is a blessing to me. My grandchildren are all grown up and it is so special to get to spend time with little J.

I hope your mom is getting some relief from the shoulder pain with the cortisone shots. She sounds like a tough one to be able to handle the discomforts at her age and it is wonderful that she has a happy spirit.

Happy belated birthday to your grandson.

Yes, good luck with the driveway, hope it goes well and all plain sailing!

Hope the headache has cleared up, going back to sleep is always nice!

Hope you have a lovely trip Selina at both places!!

Busiest morning in a while.

Got up and were out walking on the beach by 7am, walked 5 miles as it got really warm then back home for a shower and into the village to help out at a Teddy Bears Picnic, last minute request but happy to do it.

I did surprise a few folks, there was a majorette event too, I took one of the batons and showed them how it was done.....lol....not really, but I was a majorette for about two years when I was much younger, you never forget how to twirl that baton. Yes, I did get some odd glances, but I had fun. I swear I thought one of the 8 year olds was going to ask if they had majorettes when I was young lol....

Then some shopping, not much but enough to do us.

My dental appointment is 4.30, so I think dinner will be something easy to eat, will be like that for a few days till I get used to the temporary thing in place. First part of the implant where they drill into the gum is September 2nd.....least I`ll be healed by the time we fly out mid September.

Time to bring laundry in off the line, dried in no time as it is hot!!!! Cloudy, but very humid.

Have a good Thursday :sunny:

Happy Thursday. Another super slow day at work.

Yesterday I went with B to her podiatrist appointment. He recommended some foot stretches and shoe inserts to help stabilize her feet. We will see how that works for her.

Today I rescheduled a trip that dh and I have planned. We are going to Boone, NC in September to attend a football game. It’s already a tourist area (especially in the fall) and also a football weekend, so hotels are rather pricey. The hotel I originally booked at a reasonable price is about a 40 minute drive from the stadium. I found a little mom and pop motel (only 8 rooms) that is much closer and with very reasonable rates. It also has excellent reviews. I was surprised that they still had a room available.

It must have been at least 105F 41C the day we went to the midway/fair.
You are getting our weather now.

The smoke has moved back in now. So far - no smoky smell, but the skies are definitely hazy with a thick cloud cover.
Again? Are there more fires out there still?

Dh was late getting home last night - as he was at his sister's house checking out what he needs to do to help get her A/C put into her house. After he got home - we headed to Costco to pick up a few things.
Having grown up in the south it still baffles me that some people still don’t have central air. When we went to Alaska we had to have fans brought to one of our motel rooms because it had gotten so warm.

DW has finally cracked her leg pain after a half dozen specialist over two years and minor surgery should correct it.
Glad she finally has some answers and will get the relief she needs soon.

Train rides time coming up soon.
When are you going? I haven’t been on a train since our Alaska trip.

Has anyone read and then watched the tv adaptation of the book " The Tattooist of Auschwitz"
I am not familiar with this but it sounds like a very difficult read/watch.

We had so much trouble just getting people out to give estimates on house work. We finally found a good contractor, but he doesn’t do driveways.

Spent the afternoon catching up on some emails, TR and cleared out some drawers, popped a load of pajamas that haven`t been out of the drawer for a while into the washing machine for a freshen up, forgot I had so many pajamas, but all dry again now.
This is me except I have too many nightshirts.

Haven’t posted in a long time.
Hello. Nice to meet you.

I have been away for a while due to an unexpected bout of flu. I was sick for a few days - mostly very tired with upset stomach. Must be something going around again?
Glad you are feeling better. Ugh, it won’t be long before we are back to cold and flu season.

This has helped kill a little time. Now I need to go find something to do.

Happy Thursday! I have most of my tasks done - so I have some idle time today.

Dh got all the work done at his sister's last night. After he was done - we went out for dinner again. Our eating out budget has been blown out of the water this month :scared: Oh well - we don't do it often, and his brother who is visiting never gets the chance to eat out at that is VERY limited where they live. Had a nice night visiting with them.

The sun did come out yesterday - but woke to rain today. Now it is supposed to rain the rest of the day - which is what we need. My feet silently cried this morning when I put on socks and shoes - instead of being sockless and in little sandals or flip flops.

I think tonight on the menu is taco bowls. We haven't had that for awhile. I might even try to sneak in baking some muffins or something like that since it's cooled off.

I watched little J yesterday. It was a beautiful day. I took him to the splash pad for a little while. He had a great time. What a happy little fella. We did make our visit to Starbucks at Target so he could get his favorite cookie and of course I did get a coffee. He is the best little shopper.
It is great you get to spend so much time with him and have a great relationship with others in your family.
If you keep doing that - he will have many fond memories of you and the time you two spent together. I still vividly remember doing things with my Aunts - they played a huge part of my childhood days.
Come to my house for dinner tonight, roasted hen night.
Yum!!! My favorite meal!
This weekend we will be at a WoodCarving event in a small town north of here. My husband and daughter Robin have a wood carving business and will have a booth at the event. It's a fun event with lots of vendors and good food in a small town atmosphere.
That's amazing!!!! I hope they have an awesome weekend and sell out!!!! We LOVE going to events like that! You can always find the best unique gifts at those events.
Working thru the garden produce. had airfried zucchini fingers
YUM!!! I love to airfry it zucchini fingers with parm cheese, breadcrumbs and seasonings. It is almost sweet tasting that way.
Hubby has been retired for 24 years and a lot of the contractors he knew are retired also. So he had to do a bit of research to find this guys company. Hubby will keep an eye on the project to make sure things are going as planned.
That sounds like quite the project! And I will say - my dh would be the same way. He's already OCD about how he and the boys do any work in our home. I can't even imagine how he would be at a big project that he isn't able to help with in some capacity.
My dental appointment is 4.30, so I think dinner will be something easy to eat, will be like that for a few days till I get used to the temporary thing in place. First part of the implant where they drill into the gum is September 2nd.....least I`ll be healed by the time we fly out mid September.
Sending you LOTS of positive and healing vibes today. I agree - the wait is worse than the procedure.
It's great you will be healed for your Sept Trip!
Again? Are there more fires out there still?
:sad2: Yup...Right now the famous town of Jasper ( Jasper is alot like Banff only prettier IMO ) is on fire. The famous fancy lodge - Jasper Park Lodge has been burnt and more structures has been burnt as well from what we've seen on social media. It's a tiny town. With the thunderstorms that came through there on Monday - lightning strikes started some fires in that area. The area was evacuated Monday. And there are some big fires again in British Columbia as well.

Well, I should probably find something to do.

Have a great day everyone :wave2:
