Something About Nothing............ #14

I think I will like it once I get used to it. My original hair color was very dark. This was me around 10/11 years old.

My hair is mostly white now. Someday I will stop coloring it. I’m just not sure when that will be.

I was awake way too early this morning and have not been able to get back to sleep. Thankfully I have no plans today and can nap if needed.

That is dark.

Highlights and lowlights would work if you`re mostly white, blonde on white won`t work, it just looks bleachy on most folks, but your stylist will advise you on colours and mixes, there are so many options for them to put on your hair, I`d bet you`d love high/low lights especially if you`ve gone shorter, it would be lovely I imagine.

I’m on a roll with halloween thots parading in my head, mostly as back into planning the late August (early Halloween trip) to DL.

Did snag a great price on upgraded room @ The Grand Legacy there on Harbor. Was going to go with Candy Cane but this place came in 1/3rd less and is right across the street from the esplanade/entrance to the parks. No more than 10 min walk I’m told, if that. Will be our first foray offsite, should be a fun adventure :). Place just got a rennovation, nice pool (going by their limited standards in CA), trendy bar/restaurant.

Now to dig into other trips that need flushing out for the year. SWA has been tossing us curve balls by changing (often substantially) our flight times Willy-Nilly this year. Never an issue in the past, odd.

Do you ever straighten your hair with flat iron?

My MiL had the thickest head of pure white hair she wore in a long lob. Never had to use any purple or blue shampoo etc. to keep it so nice. Looks pretty awful when it gets that brassy tone. My mom’s dark hair just faded to grey.

Mine is only on top hairline. Stylist smart to use that shade as my “low lights”. Have been able to go nearly 5 months without that reverse skunk sort of strip on my part lol

Can’t go wrong with baby highlights as a starter when trying a lighter color. They feather them in near root line so they grow out subtly.

That sounds like a nice idea for a shower. I usually crochet a blanket and package with diapers & wipes. Had a few on hand, need to start anew.

When I do see them on sale, I pick up full boxes of diaper wipes and donate to food bank, who doles out the packages individually. They can get off brand diapers less than what amazon sells them for it seems. Also, try to donate smaller packages of dry pet food, cat litter, TP & PT, as those in need can’t buy them with EBT/food stamps. The staff is always thrilled to see those items :)

BP meds tend to do that for many. I did notice last trip that the white sangria did not. Was shocked how sweet it was too. I had always associated white wine with dry or opposite end of spectrum a sweet dessert Riesling.

I know more about kool-aid that wine lol. Need to try to find out if they use a premade sort or blend their own…didn’t have any floating fruit in it.

lol....my mix would be Michael and Buffalo Bill!!!! And maybe a little bit of Norman for fun!!!

He`s fine after the first two sips, it`s me that gets all red in the face after one or two wines....doesn`t stop me though! I cannot get to grips with sweet wine at all, my sister isn`t the biggest wine drinker, but if she does it`s a very sweet German something or other.....she hates the wines I drink.

Yep, Food Banks are always delighted to see nappies (diapers) and other items like that, they are priceless, same with ladies personal products and anything to do with hygiene really. Anything gratefully received with thanks of course.

I am so looking forward to hearing about your DL trip!! A 10 minute walk and a nice bar/restaurant would appeal to me too!!

Halloween......never too soon! I saw a great meme today, but can`t find it now.

Happy Saturday evening!!!

Yep, another hot one for us today, not as hot as yesterday so we got some housework done this morning, then laziest of afternoons for both of us mooching around the garden and house doing little bits and bobs. My busiest time was chopping up veg and making the marinade for the stir fry tonight, it was lovely!

Decided to watch the MiB movies tonight, getting through them now, they are always funnier than I remember them!

Good Saturday afternoon everyone :wave2:
IMG_3712.jpeg

We are heading to the city tomorrow to see the kids - and dd and gd want to go to the fair/carnival that is there. It will be hot - but we definitely will enjoy doing that with them! Son-in-law is enjoying a boys weekend with some of his buddies - so we will come have some fun with our gd
Have a nice time at the fair with your daughter and granddaughter.

Glad to hear your face is healing nicely Robbie, must be a relief for you to see that.
Thank you Carole. Hope your toe heals up quick. Those pesky blisters are no fun.

lol....yes, they enjoyed baking together, I only supervised a little, Elise took charge, Tom did as he was told too...haha
That is so funny. A man knows when he is outnumbered in the kitchen.

Sunset for a change, sorry for the poor quality, think it zoomed a little too far!
Nice sunset picture.

A bad AM to try to catch a flight here, most airlines' disrupted until
This afternoon

Love the Halloween meme on the scary dudes.

I thought of you the other day when I made a stop in Home Goods and TJ Maxx. They already had Halloween things on the shelf.

Great to hear you found a good deal for your upcoming trip in August.

I have been thinking about decorating for Halloween a little early this year. I ususally have everything done by first of September. I might start last couple weeks of August.

I’am planning a surprise birthday party for hubby in a couple of weeks and I need to come up with a menu. I know what his favorite meals are. Just need to pick one that will feed about 30 people. I try to make sure I have something that everyone likes.

I was thinking about fried chicken and ribs for the meat. I know Mashed potatoes will have to be in there somewhere. Will start from there and add a some more sides, fresh fruit etc.

I watched little J yesterday and we had a nice time. We ended up at he play area in the Mall as the day was a little cooler to start. Of course we had to stop at Ben’s Soft Pretzels for his pretzel and cheddar cheese dip. He is so cute.

Need to get to my desk in my office and get some filing done this evening.

Have a wonderful Saturday everyone doing whatever makes you happy.

I’am ready for the Halloween season.

I'm right behind you!

Still haven't seen a single seasonal decoration. Just as well, only have x amount of storage. At this point it's an entire basement room just for holidays lol

Sounds like fun & a lot of mouths to feed at once. Can't say I make fried chicken often, just not a fan of the mess it (I) make in kitchen

Neosporin helped the blister thanks....lol....my go to for everything!!

That does sound some nice choices for a birthday bash, yes, something for everyone. We have Tom`s birthday next month too, but doesn`t want a party, I had thought we might do a big surprise one like we did a few years ago for him, get the caterers in and have a huge bash, but not something he will want this time so we have a few dinners planned and an early celebration in Scotland early in the month.

Nice to spend some time with the little guy again, they are just so much fun!!!

I was up far too early this morning for someone who didn`t go to bed till after 1.30am. I think it`ll be an early night tonight for us. Not as humid during the night so we slept well, sleeping beauty is still out for the count, but not for long. Enjoyed those MiB movies followed by a couple of B&W classics.

Got a little shopping to buy this morning, bacon and poached egg first though, going to make up a nice sandwich platter and little nibbles picnic style lunch today, Kyle will be here for lunch and to watch the Grand Prix with us, he has dinner plans so lunch it is today. I think we`ll bbq tonight again, no breeze and hot, but a little cooler than yesterday which might be quite nice.

So, looking forward to seeing Kyle of course, but other than that, it`ll be a quiet Sunday evening for us.

There is a place here that makes great fried chicken. So if I decide that is for sure to be one of he meats I will have them make it. You, are right making fried chicken is a mess.

Sounds like you have some nice celebrations for Tom for his birthday. I’am sure he will be pleased with everything you have planned for him. Sounds wonderful.

If hubby knew I was planning this party he would probably say no, but he is having a one of those age marking birthdays so a celebration with family for sure is warranted.

I did the big blow out party 5 years ago at an event center with caterers and entertainment and that was a job pulling that together without him knowing about it.

This party will just be our family.

Just a quick drive by before I leave for church to say hope all the homies are doing well today.

Catch you later in the afternoon!
Enjoy your service Mac.

We have another day in the low 80’s. Will take that. It is a little overcast so should keep things pleasant out for the day.

I have a few errands to do today. So off I go.

Have a wonderful relaxing Sunday everyone.

lol....I did the same in 2019, organised a surprise party for around 40-50 folks for Tom`s birthday, all without him finding out. I still remember a heart sinking moment when I was talking to the caterers and they got the day wrong......I about passed out, but it was fine, she was looking at the wrong booking. We did end up without a cake for him....very long story I am forbidden from repeating, but we put his candles on a dessert, it worked!!

I had never used caterers before as I always catered our Boxing Night bash for anything up to 50 folks, but I`d never have pulled it off, even with friends help without him sensing something. But, a few individual celebrations will work this time even though I do think this is one to celebrate.

Yes, men tend to shy away from celebrations for them, but they deserve the world, I`m sure you`ll do him proud!!!!

Hope you have a lovely Sunday too 🙂

It`s been a bit cooler today, but worked out nicely as we were inside watching the Grand Prix together with Kyle. So, it was nice, enjoyed a lovely lunch, not a bad race, seen better and then he left with a load of things that were still here for some reason or another, not much left now of his here.

Made bbq pork steaks tonight for dinner, jersey new potatoes with butter and green onions and some roasted veg. Made a lemon syllabub for dessert so rustled up a little batch of buttery shortbread, will go well together, maybe in half an hour or so with a pot of tea.

Thinking about watching Ant Man tonight, haven`t watched it in a while or Deadpool, they are funny films.

Saw a few au natural women last trip. Seriously, I get itchy just thinking about that. Pretty sure if a dude I'd have at it

Today making both wings and stuffed pork chops even tho we will hit 90. A pick your poison day, leftovers tomorrow. Far flung Medical appt tomorrow, won't have time to whip up anything decent

He will enjoy once in the moment

Oh that`s a huge no-no!!!! Bleurgh! Not something I`ve seen often, but one does give a double take when you do see it. I do wonder why?

Food sounds good Janet and good luck today!!!

I about passed out, it was only a few seconds but she said we`ll see you Sunday, which was his actual birthday but I had organised the party for the Saturday, the relief when she agreed it was indeed Saturday was palpable!!!

I was surprised it`s out in the UK on the 25th, we used to have to wait for ages after America for movies, but I am looking forward to seeing this one.

I did go to bed early last night, couldn`t keep my eyes open beyond 10pm. Out like a light and slept right through till 6ish. Had the blinds and blackout drapes pulled back as the windows were open, so the sunshine did kind of wake me up, nice way to get up though.

Looks a decent morning, we do plan to walk, then shop a little, post a parcel for Kyle and then we have the window people coming to hopefully fix the smallest window in the master bathroom. Tom will be out volunteering this afternoon, so no plans for me, might go with him if they`re short handed or get into this new book I`ve started.

Moroccan style sausages from our bucher for dinner tonight, nice and spicy, not sure what to have with them yet but Tom will grill them outside, lunch will be something with salad and toast with preserves for breakfast.

Heading towards the end of July at speed now!

Where are all the homies today?

I have a good excuse......😁

How`s things with you mac? Keeping cool I hope :)

Planned a quiet afternoon reading a book.

cv220-S.jpg

Friend called middle of the afternoon to say she was picking me up as both our husbands were volunteering today, told me to wear scruffy clothes 😱

Told her one doesn`t have scruffy clothes :rotfl:......won`t print her reply lol....so she picked me up and said we were going wild berry picking and it was somewhere no one else knew was there!! Berries are abundant around us, but she was right, no signs of anyone knowing this place yet.

Beautiful and not too far away from us, we could have walked from the back of our place, but she took us the long way round to the car park!!!! However, we were deep in the trees to get to the darn things. Tom and I wander up there walking, but never knew all those bramble bushes were there.

Blackberries and some early damsons to add to gin to make sloe gin. We`ll definitely go back up there again, came back with loads of berries. Tried not to eat too many!!

Warm and breezy today, had a lovely walk this morning with Tom, got Kyle`s parcel posted and then arrived home to find the window man waiting to get in the driveway, he was about 45 minutes early, but can fix the window, but will take a couple of weeks as they are so busy.

Later eating tonight, just finished eating as we were late back in, Tom had started dinner for us, sausages were nice, did some spicy couscous with diced stir fried veg through it, enjoyed it.

Cuppa tea time!

Where are all the homies today?

I’m at work. Have been fairly busy until now. Thankfully I have just a little less than an hour left.

Got an interesting voicemail message while I was at lunch. The caller claimed to be from the local police department and needed to speak to my boss about a “confidential legal matter”. The call came from a number that had called ID blocked. Yeah…seems legit. She tried calling him back because she wanted to mess with him, but said the call wouldn’t connect.

I am so ready to go home now.

Finally getting to do a quick stop in :surfweb:

We had a great weekend in the city with dd and gd. It must have been at least 105F 41C the day we went to the midway/fair. It was scorching hot - but we took breaks to cool off and drink / hydrate. It was fun - but also made me decide to buy myself a neck fan for our trip in Oct. Gd was a hoot and had a blast. WE had fun riding all the kiddie rides we could with her and had lots of tasty treats!

The smoke has moved back in now. So far - no smoky smell, but the skies are definitely hazy with a thick cloud cover. It will help deflect some of the heat - but we are still toasty for a few more days at least. Closer to the weekend - it will cool down with a couple of days of rain - which is needed again now.

Not sure what is on the menu tonight. We gotta hit the grocery store tonight and restock the fridge again. I don't think there is even any bread - or sandwich meat for a sandwich lol. I haven't done a good shop for a couple weeks again. Time to restock some items again.

Off to tackle a few more things today.

Have a great day everyone!

Glad you had a nice weekend with your daughter and granddaughter, and glad the weather was nice, albeit a little hot!!!

You have smoke again?? Hope it doesn`t last.

Getting warm again tonight, looks to be a lovely few days coming up!

Watching The Wolf of Wall Street, long movie!

Good Tuesday morning from a sunny UK!

Didn`t start off that way, fog had rolled in from the sea overnight, although still muggy we both slept really well. Quick walk this morning as it was cold, windy and no sunshine, now it is glorious.

Kyle is coming for lunch and to pick up something he has stored here from his astronomy stuff someone wants to buy, so I get to make him lunch and it`s always nice setting the table for the three of us. And very handy for him as his office is only an 8 minute drive from us.

Salad with spicy chicken breasts and some coleslaw, will be nice. No such thing as tacos in this house, not fans at all!!

No idea what we`ll do this afternoon, seems too nice to stay in, but we`ll decide after lunch.

Quick taco Tuesday stop in :surfweb:

Busy day at work yesterday - and today seems to be the same. The part-time gal is in today- so it's nice to have someone to chat with. I'm letting her do most of the work - to refresh her memory of what needs to all be done.

Dh was late getting home last night - as he was at his sister's house checking out what he needs to do to help get her A/C put into her house. After he got home - we headed to Costco to pick up a few things.

As we were leaving Costco - the skies were dark. We just got into the house with our groceries and the rain started. I guess it hit the east part of the city hard - we got some rain and wind - but not like that area. Now today - it has cooled down significantly - which is a nice break.

Pumpkin if you don’t know what to fix for dinner, junk food like Taco Belle would work… just saying…
We thought about it!!!! As Taco Belle is right across the road. We ended up grabbing a hotdog and sharing a poutine at Costco. Gotta love that the 2 of us can eat for under 10.00 - and that includes ds getting an ice cream cone.

I hope you get to enjoy the beautiful weather!!!!

Off to do a few more tasks from our to-do list.

lol.....I always think of that joke about why pay lots of dollars for a colon cleanse when you can go to TB for $5 and get the same result :rotfl:

I still haven`t tried Poutine.....one of these days I will.

We did enjoy the nice afternoon, had lunch with Kyle, he took away the boxes he wanted then we went for a walk round a park about 10 miles away from us, it was lovely, a bit chilly in the shade but nice and very busy as all the schools have broken up now.

Watched oe of those guys with the giant bubble hoop, kids (and us) were fascinated by him. Not as good as the one near the Bethesda Fountain in Central Park, but good all the same.

Ground down some steak and made burgers with lots of added scotch bonnet chillies, Tom grilled them outside, they were really nice, had some salad and coleslaw, followed by cornish ice cream.

Chat with one of my brothers now, then some tv I think :)

Looks like another week of 100 degree plus temp index and intermittent sprinkles and monsoons here.

DW has finally cracked her leg pain after a half dozen specialist over two years and minor surgery should correct it. Valve in a leg vein is messed up somehow. The had a huge clot after covid and it did the same until removed. She's a beast though, she still averaged over 15000 steps on park day and 5 to 10K regular days until 2 weeks ago.
Found a crowd cow type farm that sells Angus, Wangus and Wagyu in 1/8 to whole cow for 6.95 to 9.95 a pound hanging weight so it's time to restock the freezer. No tacos today though.
