Something About Nothing............ #14

Starting to warm up here finally! Going up to 27c today. We’ve had a wet, cold spring then straight into the furnace. No gentle transition here!

@disneyseniors not sure where you live but we have (black) bears too! A couple of weeks ago my youngest daughter drove over, got out of the car she parked in our driveway and a bear strolled up from the yard, passed behind her and continued up the lane!

Hope everyone’s well!

Bemidji, Mn. I'm glad your daughter didn't have a problem with that bear - very scary.
Are you in N. Mn. too???

Saw it in the movie theater when it came out, terrifying lol

A little like Halloween, I wasn`t supposed to be watching it, had a small black and white portable tv in my room, got it when I was around 8 or 9 and I was sneakily watching it after mum and dad had gone to bed. Yes, it terrified me! So, that movie, Halloween and Freaks all gave me severe anxiety for a long time!!!

Oh, Carole, I laughed and laughed at your romper suit, LOL. You sound like me in that I just buy clothes when I see something I would like and don't try them on. Sometimes I cut off all the tags too and they end up in charity bins.
I just hate to try clothes on, so I know the score if they don't fit and I can't return them!

I'm glad your weather is getting better and you can sit outside in your garden. I am still leery of the bear so haven't spent much time outside yet. We haven't seen the bear for 5 or 6 days now so it should be okay to start feeding the birds and going outside like normal.

lol....we are twins!! I don`t mind trying clothes on in the store, I do prefer ordering online and trying them at home, mirrors are more true to life, but I am so guilty of just cutting labels off, I knew they would fit so didn`t check. But, heck, I`d have terrified anyone who saw me in one of those!!!

Weather is gorgeous, been sitting out all afternoon, mostly in the shade as yes.....it was too hot lol.....hopefully after 6 days it might have gone for good. I just have no concept of living like that, so weird, but as you`ve said, I guess you get used to it.

Happy Friday everyone:)

Carole, that's something that no one ever says up here in the frozen North, LOL. Hockey is like a religion around here. Kids start lessons when they can stand and push a chair like thing on the ice. It's incredibly expensive for the parents to have kids in hockey.

I have never been to a Chick-fil-A? There are none within a hundred miles of here.

I love to go to musical chorus events. I really miss being in those and going to those when the kids were younger.

Well, Carole, I hate to make you more afraid of our bears, but I keep them closed especially our bedroom one at night.
Just can't take the chance that one is wandering around at night.

Oh Keishashadow, I absolutely hate when that happens. Nothing is worse than being tired out from vacation and having airport delays....... We had a 12 hour delay on our first time to fly to Orlando. It was not fun. Now you are home and back to normal:)

I'm with you on this. I had a flight planned to Columbus, Ohio and the best flight had a 45 minute layover!!!! My family all said I should do it! I don't know who they think I am, but there's no way I could walk all the way to the other end of the airport in 45 minutes (Our flights get in at the very end of the airport)

Thanks for asking, Keisha:) She is fine now. She has these spells and then feels completely normal the next day. I took her shopping yesterday and she did great! She is amazing at her age.

Um.............I don't know what poppers are, but my imagination is running wild, LOL.

I have finally finished Spring cleaning, haha! Roger and I did all the ceiling fans and glass lighting fixtures yesterday. That really wore me out, but not him...... I have finally Finished! Everyone is welcome to come and see the clean house before it gets dirty again, LOL.

Bear update:: We haven't seen it in 5 or 6 days and should now be bear free:) It's finally getting beautiful and summerlike so it's time to enjoy some of that before winter rears it's cold again.

Hi to Robo and Mac:)

Also welcome SueM.

have a wonderful weekend, everyone,

ruth

Oh it`s like football in the UK, it`s more important than life itself to some, thankfully my two are not fans except for maybe the World Cup. Bores me to tears, but then so does most sports apart from Formula 1, I`ve had family in that since I was very young, not drivers unfortunately lol......but I couldn`t tell you one Hockey team, ice or otherwise!!

lol....oh Ruth, you know I said I`d come visit you there.....I`m rethinking it now.....lol....jk. I need my windows open at night, but I can see why you don`t.

Poppers!!!! haha....I did a google and sometimes called clasps/fasteners some like a bra fastener, but perfect for all in one underwear and bodysuits, saves you stripping off completely. Apologies for TMI to any males reading!!! My friends only ever call them poppers....apologies for any confusion!! :duck:

I`m in to visit again since maybe that darn bear is gone......:wave2:

TGIF :cheer2: It has felt like Monday allllllllllll week :surfweb: I feel like it has been a Monday everyday and dragging my b#tt all week.

I went to a union town hall meeting last night - just to see what it was all about. I'm undecided about how to feel about then and the whole " union" thing. Right now of course they are in bargaining mode - and of course talks are at in " impass" :sad2: so now we wait and see. OH well....it is work as usual anyways.

I had a little work to do with my garden pots last night as well. I had to cover my potato plants that I have planted. It worked so great last year, I planted even more pots/bags than last year. I got them all covered with more dirt and did a good hearty watering of everything.

Tonight - we are headed out to a local bar to have some beverages and appetizers and watch game 6 - 2 more games to bring the cup home!!!!!!

Wow....that is a huge portion! I love going to those small town dinners - especially when you get the pop in a can with a cup on the side to pour your pop into.

I love days with to-do lists like that! Your dinner (of course) sounds delicious.

I don't mind waiting in airports! I enjoy people watching and will find a cozy corner somewhere and sit with a book or find a spot and enjoy a beverage and maybe some food. I would rather that - then try to run to the next gate. We try to avoid landing in Toronto for connecting flights - as we will have to run through half the airport :sad2:

Welcome back  You have been missed. That is the same here. We have NOT had many warm days. Our furnace has been kicking in yet in the early mornings. I am ready for some warm weather again!

Well, I should probably get a few things done around here.

Have a great day everyone!!!!

Oh I do like the sound of your evening!!! Bar with appetisers, sounds good! Good luck to your team!!

We love airport time too, we have to be there fairly early, so it`s always fun to people watch, we do see some funny things at times!

Have a good one!

Still sitting out, but heading in soon, it is getting breezy, but today has just been glorious, won`t break any records, but for us, it`s been bliss!!!

Dinner turned out odd. I told Tom the Korean pork looked a little dark, there was a lot of marinade on it and it was completely coated, so he cooked it as he would cook pork, hopefully a little pink while I put everything out, Tom said he thought they looked funny and after I put them on the plates, I cut into it and said that`s not pork! The bliddy meat was beef!

I laughed and sent a txt to Vic, our butcher and said we had the wrong order, he called me and said no you got the Korean thin cut beef. Oh. lol....he did call me something unrepeatable....I could have sworn he said they were pork steaks! So, we had of course overcooked them, they went in the trash, luckily I always have plenty of options so we popped on some spicy maple chicken thighs that were divine! But I think I`m going to get teased next time we go in the butcher.

Gin and lemonade night for us I think, once it cools down we`ll head in but I think this is a window and doors open night for us.

Hopefully find a good movie to watch too unless we head back outside.

One of the charities Tom helps with just called and asked if he can do three days next week, I answered his phone and said he`ll do one day, maybe two but not three. The guy didn`t argue :)

Have a lovely Friday evening.....it`s the weekend!!!!

Hot day with temperature at 95 and even the cats won’t lay out in the porch sun room.
Forecast for the week listed up to 98.

We have the ac run 24/7.

No whines from me as I prefer hot weather over cold any day.

With Mr Mac on his bike trip, I don’t cook but pick up food for dinner for one at the bbq place down the street from us.

Most likely will get the bbq pork meal tonight as had the bbq beef meal yesterday.

Food is always the highlight of my day.

Pool was 88 degrees at 5 pm. Just ckd, the same. Don’t expect air temp to dip much tonight here.

So, that movie, Halloween and Freaks all gave me severe anxiety for a long time!!!
Builds character! lol.
So, we had of course overcooked them, they went in the trash,
Here come ‘da 🐻 Ok, no bears. What would be your apex predator there? Don’t say US tourists lol. I’m sure they are swarming London

I’d say Stonehenge but, expect it’s getting sand blasted
Most likely will get the bbq pork meal tonight as had the bbq beef meal yesterday.
Wish my stomach liked BBQ as much as my brain does.

The food from that place always sounds so good, don`t blame you for using it, especially with such hot weather for you.

Yep, hot weather wins every time!

Now that sounds so gorgeous, a pool in your own backyard!!! The good life indeed, I laughed because we peaked at 83F yesterday and it was like....."heatwave" :beach:

then it cooled down as it usually does lol.....but nice while it lasted.

We are so lucky we don`t have any apex predators in the UK anymore, wolves disappeared long ago and I believe they were the last of that kind. We do have some nasty badgers thnakfully not the honey badger, he is one nasty little sucker, some foxes can be vicious and of course we have the Adder, our only poisonous snake here. That`s about it.

We do have a huge problem with irresponsible/dangerous dog breeding, American XL bullies and similar are a problem, there isn`t a week goes by we don`t hear of another baby/child/woman mauled to death by one of those or similar.

But, unlike Ruth we don`t have to worry about bears when we hang our laundry outside!!!

Yes, what those idiots did to Stonehenge was despicable, I know what I would do with those JSO idiots. Not sure if it`s reported in the USA just how idiotic they are and what stunts they pull, but they are some of the biggest hypocrites around. I visited Stonehenge as a child as we have family down there in Salisbury, it is impressive for sure.

Enjoy that heat!!!

Slept so late this morning, it was wonderful, but we did end up putting the tv on during the night and watched scary movies as we just couldn`t sleep with the heat!!! Finally dropped off around 3.30am with classic Frankenstein playing in the background.

Tom cooked breakfast, poached eggs, probably too much bacon and a slice of French Toast, well I made that, and the biggest of our teapots this morning, we needed it!!

Won`t need lunch but maybe a snack around 4ish, we are out to dinner tonight with Kyle, looking forward to that a lot. But, the sun has gone, it`s very grey but humid and down to around 67F, it does still feel hot though, but doubt we`ll be sitting out.

Few jobs to do and then laze around I think for most of the day, we`re in a horror movie watching phase, but that might include some Abbott & Costello in there too....classics!

Have to admit so far Epic Universe hasn`t done much for us, no interest in Mario and co, but this latest announcement looks fantastic!!! It will be incredible.

Off to make some more tea and it is brightening up thankfully.

Have a lovely Saturday :sunny:

Agree with schumi, not a Mario fan.
My kids drove me nuts when they discovered it and the jingle for it they played non stop with it.

Wanted to pull out my hair when they played Mario over and over and over……..constantly

Yup, we were lucky Kyle never got into that, he never really got into computer games at all, but my goodness when he was very small....Barney was on nonstop!!! Mind you, I quite liked Barney at least, I can imagine non stop Mario driving you to distraction lol.....

I know nothing of Super Mario, I don`t doubt they`ll do a good job, but not exciting for me unlike Monsters and Potter for this new park which sound incredible.

Well, we did manage to sit out for a couple of hours, not as warm as yesterday but still lovely.

Going to have another glass of fizzy after I have another shower, get my hair done and make up on, don`t know what I`m going to wear yet, but feel like dressing up a little more than usual, think the high heels will be coming out of their hiding place....might need to dust off the cobwebs from the boxes! We`ll see, depends what dress I choose.

Loving this much warmer weather and will be nice to not need a jacket tonight either.

Kyle playing chauffeur tonight, picking us up and dropping us off so we can both enjoy a glass or two of either wine or fizz, very much looking forward to it.

Righto, off to start getting ready 🥂

Happy Saturday. Not much going on here today. Dh is out with one of his friends and B just woke up a few minutes ago.

I am so grateful that I booked our flights on Thursday. I checked this morning and the price has increased by $90 per ticket.

what man thought it would be a good idea to design rompers (intended for summer/casual wear) for grown women? Who doesn’t want to have their clothes dragging on the floor in a public bathroom on vacation
I always wondered why overalls style outfits used to be popular for maternity wear. Who wants to undress to use the bathroom when pregnant ?

Starting to warm up here finally! Going up to 27c today.
I’ll trade weather with you. We have mid 90s this weekend.

I might could make it across the Charlotte airport in 45 minutes but I would be exhausted.

I don't mind waiting in airports! I enjoy people watching and will find a cozy corner somewhere and sit with a book or find a spot and enjoy a beverage and maybe some food. I would rather that - then try to run to the next gate.
I would prefer less that 2 hours wait, but this is still better than having to run across the airport. Charlotte is large, but not nearly as big as Atlanta or Philadelphia. I figure we can take our tome getting from one gate to the next and probably also have time to stop for a snack.

Have to admit so far Epic Universe hasn`t done much for us, no interest in Mario and co, but this latest announcement looks fantastic!!! It will be incredible.
I am looking forward to Epic Universe but probably won’t go until the newness wears off some. I imagine it’s going to be crazy crowded for a while. I’m not a Mario fan but would like to try the ride. We saw the Mario area at Universal Hollywood and it looked really good.
Dh is hoping to see the classic monsters.

Time for lunch.

Happy lazy Saturday!!!

I'm still in my pj's and housecoat cruising around on the computer.

I did a little youtube video watching - trying to find good videos for the boys to watch to see which rides/activities they want to focus on.

Watched our Oilers win game 6!!!!!! ONE MORE GAME!!!!! For the boys to bring the cup home!!!! Even if they don't win the last game - they have played their hearts out the whole series - and I/We couldn't be more proud of them!!!!!

I also logged into ticketmaster at the right time - to see when the tickets for the watch party for Oiler would be going on sale - and found myself in the cue for pre-sale. I was too late - and didn't get any pre-sale. But at 1200 the general public goes on sale...so I will try for some of those tickets. DD wants to go. So I'm going to try to get some tickets for her.

Pool was 88 degrees at 5 pm. Just ckd, the same. Don’t expect air temp to dip much tonight here.
:beach: ahhhhhhhhhhh I can just picture it! Enjoy!

I am going to have to do some googling to see what happened.

Our news centers don't report much since our lovely government made changes to how new in reported in our country - stepping off my soap box right now. And off to hit google after this.
but this latest announcement looks fantastic!!! It will be incredible.
You, Keisha, and Robo are the first peeps I thought of when I seen a video on that!!!!!! It looks like it would be amazing.

Happy Saturday to you too! I just checked on prices since we bought ours too - and yes - they have increased over 100/ticket as well.

Well...I should get going. Have to get ready to go get a pedicure - and see if I can snag some tickets for the watch party.

Have a great day everyone!!!!

No scary movies here either. We both had traumatic childhoods and have seen all we want.
Got a conference in Orlando Aug 16-18 and will definitely make a trip to UO. Posted on the conference group and may have some NEWBs tag along.

FL also has black bears. But they are pretty chill.
Panthers. Coyotes, gators, crocs , anaconda and pythons, all the poisonous snakes. Every biting and stinging insect.

All much safer than the traffic and rampant fentanyl.

Ugh my post went poof! Lazy morning here too! Of course bacon & eggs, coffee! Husband and I are watching Royal Ascot and trying to pick horses. My last pic came in 2nd, Cambridge!
Have to get moving soon. Having a couple over tonight for BBQ burgers, corn 🌽 on the cob, salad, not sure what else, fries? Key Lime pie for dessert. Need to go out and get buns.

I’ve been out the past 3 days for either dinner or lunch with different girlfriend groups! I’m socialized out! But it’s always fun catching up with friends, however this time it seems to have been all at once.

Have show tickets for Guys & Dolls at end of the month with my daughters. A birthday present from them!

@schumigirl @macraven I don’t like Mario either, but it’s only one section? Looking forward to the Harry Potter area, Dark Arts? But will give it awhile till dust settles. .

@Pumpkin1172 ticket prices for big events have gotten crazy. A friend was just in Vegas with her family. Her husband and son went to that dome thing? Tickets were $99USD each. They bought thru Ticketmaster. Got home and $700USD was billed to the Visa! They’re in the process of disputing. I can’t imaging paying the price to go to the game! Someone said $1000 for nosebleed section where you can’t see anything. Yikes.

@schumigirl Stonehenge made the Canadian news, awful.

@keishashadow the pool sounds lovely! I’m with you, I’d never wear a romper! Crazy trying to go to the bathroom with one on!

@disneyseniors thanks for the welcome back. Sometimes life gets in the way!

We are about a one hour drive (through absolutely Nothing) to the border. Looking on the US map, we are even farther north than Maine!!!
Wow! Then you’re way further north! We’re very close to US border at Blaine, WA. My daughter and I like to day trip to Bellingham, Trader Joes lol! And cheap US gas! Only 30-45 min drive depending on traffic.

No scary movies here either. We both had traumatic childhoods and have seen all we want.

Def biting insects! I was at the beach with my mom when she lived in N. Miami Beach, she liked to go to Oletta State Park! I was in the queue for the drink cart, mom wanted a Coke. When all of a sudden I felt all this stinging on my foot and ankle. Red fire ants were all over my foot 😵‍💫. Luckily they had shower, & foot wash close by. I ran to it to wash them off. Couldn’t wear shoes for a couple of weeks. Just flip flops.

Good Saturday afternoon everyone :wave2:

It’s pouring down rain. This is the view outside by window at the Resort. Sun is starting to peek out again. It was smoking hot out before it rained. Hopefully the rain will cool things down or will make the humidity a lot worse.

Have a safe journey and lovely trip Robbie.
Thank you Carole. Had a nail biter taking off in the plane, But it was good after we reached the required altitude.

But, what a gorgeous day it`s turned out to be, warm and beautiful sunshine!! So we absolutely took advantage and headed up to some gorgeous countryside views.
Beautiful scenery.

Robo: I hope you have a great trip, and can't wait to hear all about it.
Yes, Mom is feeling fine now. It comes and goes quick and then she is back to normal. It still scares me to death each time, though. Thanks for the Happy BD to grandson, Rowan. That's such a cute age and fun to watch:)
Thank you Ruth. So good to hear your mom is doing better.

I am continuing my saga of spring cleaning, lol. Today I cleaned and polished the kitchen cabinets. It all went well, until I slid off the stool and landed on my bottom on the terra cotta tile floor. The good news is that I have enough padding to make the fall easier:) All is well in the Spring cleaning front. I'm beginning to think this cleaning wasn't such a good idea, LOL.
That had to hurt falling on terra cotta floor. Hope you’re ok.

Our bear made another appearance yesterday:( I was in the bathroom combing my hair for the day and noticed a black, furry creature go by the window. It was that darn bear wandering in our yard again!!! I yelled for Roger and he shot the shotgun into the air to scare the bear away. It worked but I hope it will keep him away for good. It seems we have more bears every year and it gets tiresome. So, the feeders are empty for now.
That is pretty scary. You never know what those bears are up too.

Safe travels.
Thank you.

Then a big surprise lunch out today, my cousin who lives up near Manchester was in the area, she works for CID and is down here for several meetings and she arranged with Tom for us all to meet for a quick lunch during the conference break, it was so nice to see her. Never met such a straight talking woman in my entire life, would not like to ever be questioned by her......lunch was lovely and she told us she is taking early retirement in September. Big surprise as we thought they`d have to drag her out of CID, her family are pleased though.
Good for your cousin that she is taking an early retirement. Life is to short enjoy it to the fullest while you can.

Hoping our keisha pops in to say hello after her trip and Robbie too, hope she`s having a lovely time :sunny:
Thank you Carole. I’am having a nice time.

We were biting nails to get back home Tuesday, no that’s not right. 3 am Wednesday due to mechanical delays.
Wow…..that is a lot of issues to make it back home.

Look at these portions (mine the Turkey Devonshire-hands down, best sauce ever, that fed me for 2 meals with fries still leftover)
Those pancakes look bigger than your granddaughter.

of course we have the Adder, our only poisonous snake here. That`s about it.
I didn’t know you all had poisonous snakes in Britain.

Have to admit so far Epic Universe hasn`t done much for us, no interest in Mario and co, but this latest announcement looks fantastic!!! It will be incredible.
I Don’t care for Mario either, but looking at the Architectural model of Epic Universe at the preview store I’am most excited about the Dark Universe. I have waited a long time for Universal to bring their Monsters alive in a theme park. If it is anything in real life like it is in the the model it will be fantastic.

Also Ministry of Magic looks good too.

Def biting insects! I was at the beach with my mom when she lived in N. Miami Beach, she liked to go to Oletta State Park! I was in the queue for the drink cart, mom wanted a Coke. Fire ants bites are terribly painful.

Carole love the memes.

Made it up to Orlando about mid morning Yesterday and got checked into SF. Then over to the parks to have a look around and lunch. It was smoking hot in the late afternoon. I was glad to get back to the resort and shower.

Out for a little retail therapy this morning then back to room. Debating if I will head to parks for shows this evening. Will see.

Have a wonderful evening everyone.

Rain has stopped and sun is already back out.
