Something About Nothing............ #14

Decided to go a quick walk up into the woods this morning and always marvel at how pretty it is and right on our doorstep.

Never saw another person the time we were up there.

Not ready for lunch but might make a pot of tea, not very original but it`s what we do, we`re British apparently.

Big shout out again to our macraven :)

Good morning. Today is our last day in LA. Yesterday we went to the motion picture museum. Dh loved it. B and I thought it was good. The problem with museums is that dh wants to read every printed word he sees. We were there almost 5 hours.
Last night we were supposed to meet dh’s niece and her husband for dinner but they never showed. Dh didn’t have her phone number. They have been communicating through Facebook messenger. I asked him when was the last time he communicated with her and he said 2 weeks ago. I can’t believe he didn’t contact her once we got into town. She probably forgot.
Unfortunately the fettuccine alfredo I had for dinner last night did not agree with me. So we are currently at the hotel restaurant (which is really nice) and dh and B are enjoying a nice breakfast buffet and I am eating toast.
This afternoon B and I are going to see The Little Mermaid at the El Capitan theater while dh explores Hollywood, them it’s off to Anaheim.

Hey all, like Lynne we have normal weather today. dropped 20 degrees down into high 70’s, nice not to feel so sticky. Moving slowly, have decided I can no longer eat raw white/yellow onions. The others are still going down fine though, strange.

thinking stir fry chicken today, still need to use up the scapes…will incorporate them in some stir fry noodles & then plain white rice as additional side. Hope to find broccoli in the fridge or freezer, not feeling running out.

Wow……..What a mess. Who is going to have to eat the cost of all the damage and downed power lines from the so called implosion debacle? The Professional Explosive company or the local tax payers. It looks a right mess. The home owners near the smoke stacks were I’am sure upset with the cloud debris not to mention everyone who lost power.
I’m told the corporate owner of site will be footing the bill vs the company.

there were more than a few nearby houses with blown out windows. a few with imbedded airborne projectiles.

TBH the nearby area after the cleanup looks better/cleaner than it has in years as all the road dust front the busy state roads has disappeared.
OMGosh, I can't believe that the implosion was done So Close to housing and people and power lines!!!
Wow. Can I ask if you live in the US? I've never heard of anything like this arounde here. I watched one major implosion one time. It was on live TV in Las Vegas and was a casino. It fell straight down without any fuss. I can't imagine this all happening. So glad you are alright.
Thanks, it was certainly unexpected aftermath. We live in the far-flung burbs of Pittsburgh, right before the farmland begins.
ive been scheduled 6/9 for surgeon! I think it’s all good. Receptionist at surgeons office seems quite competent! She told me she phoned and spoke to my doctor directly! Surgeon seems to get a lot of OR time. They phoned me yesterday to ask me to come in at 8:30 am (instead of 2:00) because OR just gave them more OR blocks. Dr will be in surgery that day so they’re fitting me in before surgeries.
That’s great news. Nothing worse than waiting for an impending, non elective surgery. Will you be in a surgical center or hospital? They have a big push here for the centers, especially for the more minor things.
Today at noon oldest daughter & I are having pedicures I’m not bothering with mani as can’t have nail polish on for surgery.
Love it. I remember when you couldn’t wear rings either, now if you can’t remove them here, they just tape them. DH’s wedding ring has molded to his finger, can’t remove it. Thot he’d have to get it snipped off Last year.

Another soul to heaven. My MIL passed away today. Prayers to my DH’s family.

Quiet night for us. Alarm set, trash at curb. Mostly clear sky to at least see the almost full moon tonight, and temp now down to 60 degrees. Partly sunny day tomorrow, but should be a bit warmer. At least AC not on. Older one still says house too warm. Um no, and I feel a bit cool. But getting ready for bed, so wishing all a very good night’s sleep.

And yeah:

What a shame you missed meeting the niece, but hope your tummy is better after being troubled.

Enjoy your time in Anaheim.

Raw or chunks of white onions are some of the alium family I can`t eat, but I`m ok if it`s all pounded down into a curry for example, IBS guy explains it all well why some things upset your tummy and some don`t. I`m ok with the green parts of leeks and salad onions, but not the whites....folks think it`s weird, but the science explains it.

Yes, I think rings are all taped here too as some just don`t want to take them off. Tom has never removed his wedding ring, not once, yes I think it`s permanently attached to him!

And Monday again.......we have some visitors popping in for a couple of hours today as they travel from the very top of Scotland.

The couple who used to look after our holiday home up there and who ended up buying it from us when we decided to sell it are travelling to see their daughter in London, so they left yesterday and it is a long drive. They stopped off overnight at the border, so should reach us by lunchtime before carrying on their journey, it`ll be lovely to see them. We keep in touch of course as we have known them for many years but haven`t seen them in a while.

So, will make them a lovely buffet lunch full of things they like.

This morning we`ll pop out for some bits we need, I doubt we`ll be sitting outside to eat as it`s still a bit cool, but if the sun comes out as it should, we will.

Not much else going on here....... ☺️

Have a wonderful Monday ::yes::

Ah Monday is here. Up before the dawn. But almost 80 this afternoon. Time for shorts on again. Was just a bit cool and with the winds, changed to pants yesterday. Gorgeous sunshine as the sun came up in a clear sky. But those clouds will come to make out afternoon mostly cloudy. But at least those clouds to be completely covering the sky by 1 pm today, are not rain carrying. Hence, sunglasses still be used during lunchtime walk. Yay for that.

Weather: oooh new hurricane named already. Gulf area may see it.

Thanks Charade. Will be a sad week in my home. Always sad to loose a parent, now both DH and I have both our parents gone. :littleangel:

Time for hearing the trash trucks arrive sooner then later. I like they come early.

And back to week day routine. Not too many missed emails from 3 days away. Should be a quiet day, as many are not in on Mondays, once the nice weather arrives. Much better to come back mid Monday, then fight the shore traffic coming home all day Sunday. Traffic by dinnertime Sunday is usually thick when starting almost Summer and through the Summer. Why many of my whole workforce live in the shore state. They hate going home Friday late afternoon. The traffic is thick to the shore on most Fridays, by lunchtime. Why last Friday, we left by 9 am, just after rush hour. Had some thick traffic as we got very near the beach. But good to be early, as got a close parking spot. Soon after we got there, all parking along the closest street were taken.

Ah so happy to have that mix of work places. Particularly on a Monday, it’s nice to not have to get in the car in the predawn hours, to start that week day routine.

Marvelous Monday all.

Good Monday morning everyone

One friend thinks it’s sacrilege to use such a good brandy for sangria……but what the heck, you want the good stuff not cheap alcohol that’ll give you a headache next morning. I think this may be the first of two as we are enjoying one right now outside as it’s such a gorgeous evening, this has been one of the nicest days this week and think tomorrow might be the same. Got to be outside while it’s so nice.
Your pitcher of Sangria looks good. Yes, always using the good stuff makes a drink better for sure.

Decided to go a quick walk up into the woods this morning and always marvel at how pretty it is and right on our doorstep.
Another beautiful photo of the woods. Everything looks so green.

Hope your stomach issues have resolved.

Thats scary.

Another soul to heaven. My MIL passed away today. Prayers to my DH’s family.
Lynne my condolences to you and your hubby and your family on the passing of your MIL. In your postings you always acknowledged your hubby going and seeing his mom a lot. Sounds like he was a wonderful son to his mom. Its so hard to when a parent passes.

Mac continued good thoughts and prayers being sent your way.

Quiet start to the day here. Sun is peeking through. It is supposed to be in the high 80’s today. It was 91 yesterday, but it did not feel like it as we had a wonderful Northeasterly breeze. I was out in the garden most of the day. I do enjoy being outside when the weather is tolerable for sure.

Today going to take hubby to his Cardiologist appt then grandson has MD appt so I’am going with him to that appt as his parents are working.

I did finally make hotel arrangements and flight arrangements for our week long summer trip to Universal. Grandson was pretty excited about the trip. So I went ahead and booked everything. Tried to talk hubby into going and he did not want to go.

I’am happy that he still likes hanging out with Grandma. He is such a sweet grandson. Hopefully they will have the new Minion area done when we get there.

Have a great Monday everyone doing whatever it is that makes you happy.

Robo, woot! Summer trip with grandson sounds perfect. Yes, he is the oldest, and is a good son. Yes, always hard to loose a parent.

So sunny and beautiful looking out.

Good morning. Today is our first Disney day.

Yesterday was fun. B and I went to see The Little Mermaid at El Capitan. We both really enjoyed the movie though I still think changing some of the Lyrics of Kiss the Girl was stupid. While we were at the movie, dh caught up with his niece and her husband. She had put our dinner on the wrong day in our calendar. We spent a couple of hours with them and then drove to Anaheim. We had dinner ay Storytellers Cafe where I surprised B with a congratulations cake.
IMG_9127.jpeg
We still have a lot leftover. It was really rich.

Today we are going to the California Adventure Park.

Neat Charade. When we went, I forget the movie, but they did a live show of birds before the movie. That when when my kids were much younger. We ate at the ice cream paleo near the theater after the movie.

Have a great Monday everyone doing whatever it is that makes you happy.

We`re very luck with our weather, we get a lot of rain, so everything is lush and green when it is summer, always a silver lining to that rain!

Glad you have your trip sorted with your grandson and I think you`ll definitely see the new Minion area, they are ahead of schedule, it does look very cute.

That cake looks lovely Charade and glad you got to see your husband`s niece and her husband, it`s nice to catch up with family or friends when you can.

It was so lovely seeing our friends from what is almost the very tip of Scotland. They showed us some changes they had made to the home and it is lovely, they kept calling it our house, but it`s definitely theirs!! They have a very firm fondness for bright colours which doesn`t really go as it is a very traditional style, but they like it, so that`s all that matters.

Lunch was nice, just made a buffet with lots of different offerings....... @disneyseniors I did add a touch of Dijon and some wholegrain mustard to the potato salad today along with chopped egg, chopped bacon and green onion.....yep, we all liked it!! They left about 3 this afternoon to travel the rest of the way down to where there daughter is living now, lovely catching up with them.

We plan to pick at the snack food left tonight, not cooking a meal when we have all this food.

Time for tea....a large pot of tea.

@schumigirl my daughter (33) will have to explain Mario to me lol

@Lynne G lazy sundays are always nice. I went to church, then met friends at a local Mexican restaurant. We sat in the garden. Then youngest dropped by for dinner. Bbq pork chops.
We have Monday trash day too. But we can’t ut bins out till the morning. Bears. Need I say more lol.

@Charade67 men can’t organize their way out of a paper bag. Their idea of planning makes me crazy lol. Too bad for the missed meet up and you got sick.
Is Pizza Press the restaurant you’re enjoying? I love it. What room did you get, balcony or patio. I always used to request balcony until I got a patio! Love the patio, so private.

@keishashadow our surgeries are done in hospital. We do have surgical centres for things like cataract surgery at The Eye Centre which is attached to a major hospital. Years ago I worked in ophthalmology and remember when cataract surgery was a 3 day stay! Now you’re in and out.
My surgery will be in hospital. Won’t know what till I see Surgeon.
I can’t believe the implosion aftermath, wow. Good the city isn’t having to foot the bill for that mess. I hope that company is investigated and licence suspended.

@Lynne G I’m sorry to hear about your MIL. Condolences to you and your family. We are orphans too. My mom was the last to go. Such a strange and sad feeling. -

@Robo56 Happy Monday to you too! Yay for August trip. Where did you book? PR? Sadly I’ll probably have to cancel our late Aug trip. Will have to see what my treatments will be. Not canceling anything yet. Since it’s room only booking I can wait till 6 days before.

@Charade67 what a fabulous theatre to see the movie at! Glad you eventually met up with DH family. Love Storytellers. That cake looks great. Enjoy DCA today! I love how the same rides are different than Florida.

Today the sun is shining and warming up high will be 90’s on Wednesday then cooling down again.
In a few minutes heading off to meet youngest dad for lunch. Borrowing camping stuff! So will take her to lunch.

Can’t beat the huge phone used all ride, held up high, FaceTiming in the front row. Sone people just can’t put down a screen, Charade. Hope you are having a great time in the parks.

Another soul to heaven. My MIL passed away today. Prayers to my DH’s family.
Oh, sorry to hear. Your DH sounded to be a very dutiful son to her. Hugs to all

Good luck to the mr. We had to laugh, at DH’s appt last week when the cardiologist was going over his records, he stopped in his tracks. Asked if had an ECG lately. Turns out, it feel thru the cracks and didn’t get the routine follow up after his surgery. I guess it happens, happy he did catch it.

well, it says something about you as a Grandma that he is excited to spend time with you!

When are you going? Did you find any onsite hotel deals? Once again, we were shut out as to $$$$ to add on a couple of days with GD there over the 4th of July trip. Decided by the time we bought her tix or an AP & three days of hotel etc, might as well burn a few more $ & do a short cruise on the end of the trip.
I hope this works. This is how movies start at the El Capitan.

El Capitan Curtain Show
That is very cool. How did u like the remake of little mermaid? GD saw this weekend, gave it two thumbs up
We do have surgical centres for things like cataract surgery at The Eye Centre which is attached to a major hospital. Years ago I worked in ophthalmology and remember when cataract surgery was a 3 day stay! Now you’re in and out.
That is so true! They had a big push for surgical centers vs full scale hospitals here for many things about 10 years ago here. They ran into some issues with endoscopy procedures going south (ala Joan Rivers in NYC) Via not having advanced life support capability. So many of them closed & were repurposed into medical offices. Oddly, enough, they still are popular for orthopedic services. I had my choice of that or in regular hospital for my hand surgery a few years ago. went with traditional hospital even though I decided upon a local.

Derm Practice I use does have a very nice surgical center attached. Since that has been all local anesthesia for me, I’m good with it. Not sure how’d I feel for anything more advanced TBH.

We are waiting in line for a ride and a guy in front of us pulls out a laptop and is using it as we walk through the line.
Maybe he’s playing hookey and doing his work on the fly As it’s a local park? i’d be afraid to drop it and break it
It’s even more special when someone does that during World of Colour or Fantasmic! I won’t even get into the shoulder kids.
Between that & all the lights from the cell phones held over their heads, ugh.

we joke that no matter where we stand on the edge of the curb to watch a parade, a very tall adult with a kid attached to his shoulders pops up at the last minute. strikes me funny that’s ok. However, my family’s various bouncy tiggers have been cautioned to keep both feet planted on the ground, even when nobody is within 50 feet, when leaping for an instagram worthy pic in the park.
