a Scoop pin but no the way you would expect.

Item # 2161323003

For just $300.00, you to can have a pin.

I guess it was only a matter of time. :(

I'm a proud American and believe in capitalism, but it just seems to me that there are certain things beyond money. The meaning behind things like the CTT pins and the Scoop pin are among those.

Sorry for the editorial, everyone. :)

It was only a matter of time. I am sorry to see one go up.

But how fair is it to those who have done just as much for the pin trading hobby but can't get to WDW as often as some. Just because someone can't get to Scoop's seminars does that make them any less a candidate to be awarded a pin. If I was able to get one in a trade or purchase, I would be just as proud of it hanging on my wall because I know what I have done to CTT and that's all that matters to me. Disney's ploy of getting me to spend more money to get to WDW, buy a park pass to maybe have a chance of seeing Scoop and getting a pin...I may as well just buy it on eBay. I don't need the public recognition part. JMHO. Let the flaming begin.

We must remember that not everyone feels the same about pins and someone was awarded a pin and as such it is theirs to do with as they want. While it is a shame to see one go up it does not surprise me. As Mario has stated not everyone has a chance to get to WDW and to see Scoop. Most in fact have to go through the secondary market to get these very hard to find pins. I know what the award means but why would this be any different than a CCT or a service award like the 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, year pins from Disney.

Someone was awarded a pin from Scoop for some reason that only Scoop knows. This person might have been able to trade for a pin that ment more to them than this pin. We will never know and to be honest it is none of our buisness. The deed is done. Now a 3rd party owns this pin and they are offering it for sale.

While we can debate the fact that it is for sale we should not (I say this as a Mod) go on a witch hunt for the person who traded it away or is selling it.

There was a debate about this same thing yesterday at DTD. If a pin belongs to you Its your decision what to do with it. This is still a democracy and Pin Nazis cannot determine proper behavior for anyone but themselves! Supposedly each of these pins is listed in a book with the recipients name? No pin is so important that you should have to be on some sort of hit list after you get one!

Very true -- what you give a gift it is up to them at that point to do as they wish.
And as someone who lives 1,500 miles away from WDW, I certainly sympathize with those of us who can't just go the parks at whim. :(
I even have a gripe with WDW as an AP holder I cannot buy LE AP pins without being at WDW. :(
And me being awarded a CTT would be a rare chance indeed. Just as receiving Scoop's pin and being Grand Marshals that day -- purely by chance and luck.

When Scoop gave me my pin he did say to wear it with pride.

I have looked at this pin and thought of the value of it and thought that it would be a wonderful way to raise money for the Cancer Society.

Last year everyone probably remembers the Pinhook for Peachident Pin - I raised $1150 with Mike's pin.

I think Scoop would endorse this - to know that the money from the pin would go to such a good cause.

Now I just have to find that unselfish side of me that would be willing to give up my prized possession.

Just my Opinion.

No flames being cast here. I agree that everyone sees things differently. This is certainly the case here, and I can respect the fact that people feel differently without passing judgement on anyone. All I'm doing is stating how I personally feel about this.

Obviously people feel differently about selling the Scoop pin or CTTs than I do. These are not pins that can be bought off the rack -- they're awarded to pin traders for various reasons. It just wouldn't mean the same to me if I had to get one from eBay, and only extreme circumstances would force me to part with my CTT.

When it comes down to it, we're talking about hunks of painted metal, but some of these hunks have more memory or meaning to some of us than others.

real sad.
I wonder if there'll be any bid on it?

cyn

Of course they will bid. The type of person that felt it was OK to auction it will be the same type of person who will feel OK to bid on it.

I'll bet that Scoop would be very proud to think that his pin could raise money for such a cause... That is what Magical Moments are all about....
