Someone may have read my complaint about DCL points

I follow the DCL board quite a bit, and one of the DIS'ers was picked to be on a Panel while on board. They discussed different options and changes that were going on. He said one of them possibly coming up was a discount for early booking and an onboard credit for DVC members if you booked on board. This makes me very happy, because cruising is one of the reasons we bought points.

Great! We are holding out until cruising becomes a better deal for DVC'ers. I am a notorious early planner, and would love a discount for planning way ahead. Thanks for the scoop!

This would be awesome as we too have been holding off booking a cruise in hopes that a DVC discount would be much more appealing.

In the past we had this option available to us when we cruised. (In February 2004 and April 2003). Both times we even had the option of booking within so many days after we got off the crusie to get a discount on the number of points it would take. At the member gathering on the cruise they handed out a discount sheet that showed how many points we would save. BTW, both times we re-booked but the cash price was so good, we went with that instead of using points. It's been a couple of years but it I think it was anywhere from a 13 to 26 point discount per person.

Too bad we can't just say, "come on...we've cruised 5 times before, but didn't rebook because of the birth of our child...can't we just get the discounted rate now??!!"

There already is a booking incentive for DVC members with points.....You ask for the brochure with the discounts while on board but then you have 3 days after your cruise to call MS for that rate.....(or 3 days within the 11 mnth booking window) because you can get a points discount on future cruises for up to 18mths from original sailing date.....

We re-sailed with points discount last year..... (for cat 9 it was like a 15 pt or so discount per adult first two adults only)

That's good to know. I know the guy on the panel said they were just considering it or maybe an even bigger discount or offering the onboard credit. Whatever it is, I'll be happy. We're cheap!! What do you do about a down payment?
