some say November is the better then december why?

we are planning a trip, made it for December but now I am told November is the best time. we want to see the Christmas decorations, and need it to be less crowded ( for an autistic child) what dates do you say is the least likely to be crowded? ( for the whole week) and we do not want to cross over to the first week of December, way to many things going on that first week.

Our family has traditionally gone to DLR in early/mid Dec every year for several years. It used to be a quiet time to go, but word got out and now many people plan their trips during that time. It's not near as quiet as it used to be, especially with as many local AP holders who love to enjoy the parks during the holiday season and also seek out less crowded times.

In order to mix things up a bit and seek out less crowds, we've gone at alternate times the past couple years. We went the week after Thanksgiving last year, and found it to be relatively quiet with short waits for most rides. However, we also had some rainy weather, which I'm sure helped keep locals away.

Two years ago, we went for the last day of the holiday peak period in January, so we could take advantage of seeing all the holiday stuff, then spent the following three days in the parks. It was also a pretty quiet park during that time, but hit a heat wave of 87 degrees (in January!!).

It's really a crapshoot to find when the crowds will be at their lowest these days. DLR has done an incredible job with marketing the last couple years (anyone else notice a HUGE increase in DLR commercials?). I have found the parks always feel full, even if lines are relatively short. JMO.

The christmas stuff goes up mid to late november... I would think that would be the best time to go before the madness hits... Went the day after christmas in 06... Wall to wall people! It's was crazy!!!! We walked into disneyland and could barely move plus there was some rose bowl thing in front of the castle so you had the team and fans so we were like whatever and went to california adv until later that day. But it's just crazyness

For this year, if you want to see all the Christmas decorations and also hit the least crowded week(s), here's my predictions:

Nov. 16th (sun) - Nov.23 (sun): This week is late enough in November that all the Christmas decor and festivities should be in full swing, it's the week after Veterans Day, and it's the week before Thanksgiving.

Dec. 7th (sun) - Dec. 18th (thurs): The Thanksgiving crowds will have left, it should be after the Candlelight Processional, after the Disneyland Resort employees Chirstmas parties, and before all the Chirstmas crowds start to hit the parks (which will probably start on Friday, Dec. 19th).

And there you go, for what it's worth.

I think going in early dec. is just as good. We went last December for the first time around the holidays (we had been many times in spring and summer) and the crowds were the best we have ever seen them (hardly any wait times at all!) and the weather was wonderful.

We planned our trip to fall just after the cast parties and candlelight processional (a few days later). It was perfect!

We went last year December 16-20th 07 and the crowds were fair. We had a really great time and it was not too crowded. Most rides were 15 mins or less.
i have been in Oct when all of the Halloween stuff is up and that by far was the least crowded time(walked on most rides with no wait) but that was in 06. We went july 20-23 of 07 and surprisingly the crowds were ok for July and the wait time was approx 30 mins or less.Except splash mountain
In Feb 07 the wait time was also walk on for most rides. Hope this helps.
