Some random thoughts from my trip

I thought I'd compile a list of random thoughts & observations from my trip to DL.......ready everybody? here we goooooooo.......

1. I had heard rumors of it being busy, but didn't fully realize just how busy the parks would be. We even went to DCA to escape the DL crowds but it was quite busy in DCA too.

2. I thought that the construction on the water area at DCA was going to be an eyesore.......but I hardly noticed it. Maybe it was because I knew it was there and didn't really pay much attention to it? The view of construction did not spoil my view in any way......in fact, it made me excited and can't wait to see the new changes coming!!

3. I wore my Birthday Button all the days we were there and my Birthday Mickey Ears on my actual birthday. I loved having CM's tell me Happy Birthday! Even got some birthday wishes from random guests!

4. The parks seemed to have a little more trash than usual around on the ground. I saw several CM's cleaning up but it just seemed to me that I noticed more trash than usual. It reminded me of WDW....when we went, it seemed like MK had more trash on the ground than DL. We did tell a few CM's that were sweeping trash up "Thank you for keeping DL clean!".

5. I took some advice from the boards and we left mid-afternoon on a few days to return after dinner. I did not really notice that the crowds were less by doing this. While DL is fun to be at when it's dark, you also bump into more people because you can't see them! We brought in glow-necklaces & bracelets to wear just so our group of 11 could find each other! And we had several people ask where we bought our necklaces.......and they were quite disappointed when I told them that I got them at Dollar Tree and not inside the park!

6. We did just about all we wanted to after being there for 5.5 days......but it was busy enough that we didn't get to do a ton of repeat rides. Our original plan was to take a day and go to Universal Studios. We nixed that once we realized we weren't going to get through all we wanted to!

7. I did a few things for the first time on this trip such as riding in one of the Main St vehicles, eating a Tigger Tail & a Dole Whip, watching the fireworks from IASW.

8. There were some things that we've never done before and still didn't get to.......we wanted to do Princess Fantasy Faire but the lines were horrendous, never made it to Pixie Hollow, play musical chairs with Alice & Mad Hatter, wanted to catch a Billy Hill show, wanted to sit on Main St and people watch, and I never could find where the dentist office is on Main St. I wanted to hear the sounds coming from there......any clue where this is???

9. I loved my new Baggallini that I took on this trip! Only problem I had was when I wore it like a messenger bag with my lanyard and my hooded sweatshirt, I'd end up choking myself with too much stuff around my neck! :rotfl:

10. We didn't see tons of characters out and about. And I could never get into City Hall to get that list of the character locations and times!

It was still so fun and magical to be there. I told DH last night that I kind of want to go back just him and I without the kids so we can do some of those things that we didnt' get to do! :)

Sounds like you had a good trip!

If I recall correctly, the dentist's office is back towards the lockers, off Main Street, behind the fruit cart. You have to go back in there, though.

Ahhhhh.....that explains why I did not see it! I never did venture towards the lockers! Next time........:)

Glad you had a fun trip, despite the crowds, Firefly!

Sound like when we were there last year, at this time. It was sooooo busy! But still, it's DL... and a bad day at DL is better than a good day... anywhere else!?

On the East side and opposite from the Emporium is a large multiple shop building where the cinema is. Just walk around the building so you are on the north side of the building. There is a tiny street on each side and on the right facing toward the fruit card is where it is located. That is where the Marceline Hotel is located.

Upstairs at the shop where you get Mint Juleps, across from the bathroom, is another upstairs audio track going on.

i agree with you wholeheartedly on this one. the first time we ever did this was during our 5 day trip in august of '07. the parks were still busy at night, and i found the only benefits to leaving midday to return at night was 1) the weather was cooler, 2) we'd all had time to swim and nap in the afternoon which made it possible for us to go back at night. we'd had to get up at 6 to make it into line a half hour before opening, so there's no WAY we could have kept going all day till midnight without that midday break (we have 4 kids), and 3) as you said, it's fun to be in the parks at night.

Would you be able to post a picture of what the Birthday Mickey ears look like?

I haven't figured out the whole posting photos thing here and have been too lazy to open up yet another website account for photo storage. But, I will work on it and try to get something posted. I know I love reading posts with pictures myself, so I'm sure others do too!

PS......I've been working on my Photopass pics and that ate up many many hours yesterday! :surfweb:

I understand about posting pics .... seems like it shold be A LOT easier!!;)

Would you mind describing them? Are they the standard black felt hat with black plastic ears with some sort of birthday embellishments? Did you have your name embroidered on the back?

Sure!! It is a yellow hat and on the front it says "It's my birthday!" in colorful lettering and has Mickey holding up a birthday cake. The ears are black and lots of colorful Mickey balloons and confetti. In the very middle between the 2 ears is a red cone party hat and it has gold stars and a small yellow pom-pom on the tip top. My DH got my name and age embroidered on the back in red thread.

It's a very cute and colorful hat!!! I had fun wearing it. :)

how much were they? (just doing planing for my self)

You know, I am not sure how much they cost. DH bought it for me for my birthday. But when I was in the Mad Hatter shop buying ears for my nephew, the cost of ears varied between $11 - $20. I'm guessing the birthday ears were some of the more expensive ones.
