Some random questions....

Hi again! Some of you have been nice enough to answer some questions for me as I plan for my family's FIRST trip to DLR...If you could be so kind to take a look at my next list - that would be great!
1) I had been considering Goofy's Kitchen for brunch for our one character meal...but now I am thinking Minnie's might be best. Can you tell me if they take breakfast reservations before park opening? I'm not certain what time park opening will be - not sure if anyone has any idea - Our date would be Wednesday April 21st - maybe 10:00am?? Anyway would love an 8:30 reservation to get in the park and get breakfast out of the way before the park opens.
2) I'm a bit foggy going through my material in terms of what parades/nighttime shows I can expect. Looks like a lot of things are only on weekends at that time of year? We are staying from Wed the 21st to Sat the 24th (but checking out in the morning) - so I THINK we can at least hope for fireworks on the Friday night of our trip? Is this a good assumption?
3) I know this isn't DLR related, but when we go to SeaWorld, I am considering bringing out lunch into the park with us. Do they allow this?
4) Is Captain EO now a new attraction? Where is it located so I can add it to my itinerary?

Thanks so much!!! More to come I'm sure. :)

I can only help with

3) Sea World is VERY strict about bringing in outside food and drink. You're not even allowed bottles of water. They check all the bags as you enter and make you throw anything away if you've brought it. Food there is outrageously pricey - much, much more expensive than even Disney, so if you really want to save money, you might want to just leave in the afternoon, go to get lunch, and then come back later.

4) Captain EO is where Honey, I Shrunk the Audience was playing, near Space Mountain.

Thanks sonnyjane!

Thanks for the heads-up on food at Seaworld, if it is strictly against the rules I will not even try - I don't want to break the rules...How is parking there? Would it be feasible to leave a cooler in the car and head back there for a lunch break or is it way too far/too much hassle for that?

We love Minnie's ~ I don't think we've done a early breakfast there, we enjoy a late brunch after our MM or just an early park day like 8am ~ we like to sit down at take a break at 10am or even later.

Parades are a daily thing.

We visited Sea World last July and I'm pretty sure we brought water bottles with us.

I'm saying you wouldn't even be ABLE to break the rules if you tried lol. I once tried to sneak a bottle of water and a granola bar in, and I had placed it in one of the center compartments of my purse. They made me unzip it, saw the food/water, and made me throw it away. They are ruthless! I just saw the PP mention that she brought in bottles of water - I could have just had a really strict person that day, but I have been behind people on more than one occasion that had a bottle of soda in their purse and they had to throw it away too.

I don't think parking is that bad. Even if you got there really late and had to park in the farthest corners of the parking lot you'd be okay (in my opinion at least), so you could certainly leave a cooler there. Parking is $12, but you only have to pay it once, so if you did decide to leave and come back, you could easily do so, just save your parking receipt.

1.) We always love Goofy's, and haven't tried Minnie's, so I am no real help here.
2.) During slower times of the year, nighttime shows are sometimes only available on the weekends, which includes Fri, Sat and Sun, as far as I know. It is a safe assumption that they will try to have fireworks on Friday. The only tough thing about having one night to try to watch it is that if they have to cancel, there is no other day to try it. What month are you going? They do run the fireworks 7 days a week for a lot of the year.
3.) We have had enough tough times with food at SeaWorld to learn. Their stuff is soooo spendy (and not very good!) that we bring a lunch, leave it in the cooler in the car, and step out to eat for a mid-day break. That being said, sometimes they aren't as attentive, and we have managed to get in with small snacks in our bag.

Hope this helps! :goodvibes

Ahhh, just found this on their official site - looks like they have eased up and water is now allowed! (Woohoo lol):

Food and Beverage Policy
Restaurants and concession stands are conveniently located throughout the park. Hard and soft coolers, glass containers, food such as sandwiches, meals, snacks etc..., and flavored drinks may not be taken into the park. Water bottles may be taken into the park. For your convenience, picnic areas are available outside the park adjacent to the entrance/exit plaza. If leaving the park to enjoy your food, please have your hand stamped for re-admittance. Guests with medical diets or baby formula should speak with a park representative for assistance before entering the park.

I've never experienced the kind of strictness that you were referring to in 4 years of regular SeaWorld visits! It may be employee-specific. I've always brought little baggies of snacks, and the last time I was there, I was about to throw out a McDonald's drink cup, but the guy told me I just needed to throw away the straw. :confused3

Very possible. I am a passport-holder, so I go fairly often, but that water/granola confiscation happened on my first visit, so I never tried to bring anything in again. Could have just been that one employee. Like I said earlier though, I have seen them take sodas at the gate on multiple visits.

Sorry for the threadjack, OP! :)

Thanks for responses so far. For Seaworld, I think we'll do the cooler-in-the-car idea. Sounds like there is a picnic area for us too, maybe we'll try to park right near there. I will bring in a couple of water bottles though - thanks for the 'official' word on that! :)

I'll weigh in on the character meals. We've done Goofy's Kitchen twice and Minnie's Breakfast and Ariel's Grotto each once. Goofy's is my favorite! We thoroughly enjoyed the others as well, but Goofy's will always be my fave. :thumbsup2 Checking this thread might help you to decide:

This is good information to know. In fact, this changes our meal plans at SW on our trip. We will be packing a lunch and eating at the picnic area. I don't mind having to pay a bit more, but not for mediocre food.

Minnies is sometimes open prior to park opening, but the earliest I've heard is no more than 45 min to an hour before regular park opening. For example with a 10 am park opening I know people have gotten a 9:10 reservation.

I am actually going to be at DLR at the same time as you. I have already made reservations for Minnie's on the 22nd at 10:50, the latest time I could get. I asked when they open and they had the park hours available and said that they are opening the same time as the park on the days I inquired about so that was what made me book the later reservation for the MM day that we will be there.

I've been leaning towards Goofy's Kitchen for a character meal, glad to hear so many people enjoy it :).

The posts about SW were stressing me out a bit seeming as my son has diabetes and we have to carry snacks with us at all times. This sounds like they may be lenient in our situation though - I hope!

I'm having the same issue with the Alcatraz tour in SFO. They are very strict about not allowing any food or drink on the island and don't seem to give exceptions for medical reasons, so we may need to skip the tour.
