How far in advance do you book? Are there any tips for getting a great deal? Do you have to book a special package to get the shuttle to the port?

We are going to need 6-9 rooms, depending upon occupancy limits. I want to make sure we can get the rooms we need.

Thanks for any info you can give.

I have stayed at the Radisson for the past four cruises and have NEVER been able to get on their shuttle until after 12 noon. IF you are planning on taking the Radisson shuttle to the port, reserve early. Of course, I like to get to the port early (like 10:30 a.m.) -- if later doesn't bother you, then that shouldn't be a problem. Depending on when you're going, it can be crowded especially if you want your block of rooms together. It's a fairly large hotel and your rooms could be spread out if you don't reserve early. Hope this helps and have a great cruise :)

We stayed there the 16th. Our family had the reservations where we could prebook the shuttle. Another family traveling with us got in at the last minutes and got the 10:30 Am shuttle with us.

Good luck!

Also - you can always resssie rooms in advance and then cancel before they charge you.

Depending on the time of year you are going, we got the king suite which sleeps 6, 2 doubles (or queens can't remember) and a pull out sofa that sleeps 2 for $89 a night. We've stayed there twice and had no problems with noise or cleanliness as has been mentioned on these boards on occassion. I booked online probably 6 - 8 months out.

We rent a van so can't help you with the shuttle question. Hope that helps.

Booked mine almost 9 months in advance. Then had to alter the reservation due to two tagalongs. I was worried with the popularity of the resort / location closest to the port. Figured I knew when I was sailing, all they need is a credit card to hold. Not a big problem. I booked on line at their site. If you're booking rooms that will need to be together I would call the resort directly so they can note that a block of rooms will need to be set aside. Not sure if they'll require anything different to reserve that many rooms, I wouldn't think so. I think it was a 24 hour ahead of time cancellation or your card will be charged.

We book as soon as we know we are leaving. It is a popular place to stay and can get very busy the night before a cruise.

I would call them directly to book..that is a lot of rooms, maybe they can give you a group or discounted rate. Never hurts to ask.

I have a question too ...

What is the best shuttle time to get? I just called and reserved for 10:30 a.m., but the fellow at Radisson that took the reservation was skeptical. He said that we'd just be waiting around for a couple of hours if we got there that early.

I'm the type who likes to get on ASAP and get going, but I am bringing a 5 year old and an 11 month old who can get antsy waiting around.

What do you gurus recommend?

Thanks!

There is a lot of stuff going on at the port - so while you may be waiting for 1 to 1/2 hours in line - generally only 1 person in your party needs to actually be in the line. DH took our DD to see the model (HUGE) of the ship and they explored the terminal. I enjoyed being in line, meeting the other passengers, finding out who had cruised with DCL before, trying to find out any additional hints etc. The time went by VERY quickly! Plus, keep the camera out - you never know when a special guest may appear!

It's my understanding from reading everyone's comments on various threads, if you want to get Palo or Spa ressies, its a must to be there as early as possible. Otherwise just arrive before the ship leaves. First time cruiser myself and I'm driving my own vehicle down. Can't take the flying baggage restrictions! Can't shop WDW and DCL properly and fly :)

We booked our room for November on January 2. We recently had a change in plans and needed to add 1 more day to our ressie. We called Radisson and they were very helpful with our request, answered several questions about restaurants and close entertainment.

They even let us book our shuttle ressie. We got the first shuttle run at 10am. WOOHOO.

And just for those of you who don't know, the Radisson is only 1 mile from the port so shuttles run pretty quickly, AND, they have added a 3rd shuttle van to their fleet because it has become soooooo popular.

We are on the 8/21/04 Magic and staying at the Radisson I booked back in Sept about the same time I booked the cruise. I just called last week and reserved the 10:30am shuttle.

I booked off the internet using a "visit Florida" room discount. Room was $103 total. I think89 + tax or something like that.

married2grumpy,

I just had to tell you that I LOVE your DIS name!! I can certainly relate to that!!!! Too funny!!

We are going on 8-21 as well...need the best deal for this hotel for the 8-20...someone tell me what to do...please:wave2:

I found the best deal for The Radisson on the internet. They post pretty decent webrates, but they are non-refundable and you have to pay the total amount due when you book your room.

Usually sites like travelocity, expedia ect offer good prices becauses they are pay up front deals.

If you book on the Radisson site it requires a credit card hold but no payment ahead. Think the room I got was $119. Not too bad. There are also the park and shuttle deals they have also.

We got a room w/two double beds, Caribbean Style, High Speed Internet for $85.00 per night (Internet Saver - Deluxe Standard). It ends up being $93.50 w/taxes and my credit card was billed by the hotel at time of booking.

The best I found was $119 a night. I checked Expedia and they said there were no rooms available for our date (4/29/05). I think I will book under the $119 rate for now. I need something refundable because I'm pretty sure we will be doing WDW the week before but we won't really know until we get closer to our travel date and the airfares are released.

If anyone finds anything cheaper than the $119, please let us know how you found it and what the dates were.

Do you think they offer discounts for group bookings. So far I think we will need 5 rooms.

My Dis name is pretty fitting for my DH. He's really not all that grumpy. I guess I should have made it married2moody because that fits him better. I don't think there was a 8th dwarf named Moody though! He changed his tag under his Dis name to say "Yes, I'm Grumpy". I thought that was cute!

married2grumpy,

Ok, you can change your DIS name to "married2moody" and I'll take your name! I love my husband very much, but my kids and I have purchased many Disney items with "Grumpy" on them for him in the past (tee hee!). I'm so jealous that I didn't think of your DIS name first!

married2grumpy - I think I will change mine to married2cheapie (cheapie was one of the grumpy's brother's)
