Ok, my most recent threads were to ask about YC & GF, but now we're thinking about Poly....it won't be for awhile yet...definitely after the Hawaii building rehab is done. So, we definitely want a lagoon view....which building is best to request for that. Also, we're thinking about doing Lagoon view concierge. Does that guarentee that we'll be in the Hawaii building, or is there another building? Also, if we are in Hawaii building, are all lagoon views pretty much a view of the castle?

Next question...we definitely would want a non smoking room, and I saw that in Hawaii, thats floors 1 & 2, but I don't really want a first floor...that leaves second floor, but they don't have balconies. (so confusing). Has anyone stayed in the non balcony rooms, and does it really make a difference? Our kids will be 4 and 18 months at the time, so I'm not sure how much we'd need one. Thanks for any information!

Hi - we stayed in the Hawaii concierge 11/2001. Yes, if you are in concierge and you ask for a lagoon view, you are guaranteed one in the Hawaii building. The building itself is in a prime location. You are going to love it.

I'm not sure if the set-up will be the same when they open back up but the check in desk was on the west side of the building, first floor as soon as you walk in. The lounge was directly above it on the second floor and there was a loft that looked down to the lounge from the 3rd floor. The lounge had a huge picture window so you can also have a view of MK and the castle, etc. while you were in the lounge.

We had a lagoon view on the second floor and it was beautiful. We didn't mind not having a balcony but I'm sure we would have used it if were there. I was hoping they could somehow install balconies during the rehabs but I guess that is not possible. One advantage to being on the 2nd floor was the lounge also being located there.

You are right about the smoking rooms, 1st and 2nd were non-smoking and 3rd was smoking. I would love to see the smoking rooms rearranged when they reopen after rehab so they are located on one side of the building, like they are in Tahiti. That would give the non-smokers a chance to have a 3rd floor balacony room.

I hope this helped.

The Polynesian only has one Concierge building, excluding the suties, which is the Hawaii. Currently the Tahiti is housing concierge during rennovation, but will be moved back once Hawaii is done.

If you stay concierge at that time, Hawaii will be your building. Some rooms have a better view of the MK (Castle and Space Mountain) than others. We have stayed on the 2nd floor and didn't mind not having a balcony. We don't spend a ton of time in the room, so a balcony isn't that big of an issue for us. They are nice to have, but we didn't miss it.

If you don't stay concierge, then I would say the Tahiti has the best lagoon view. It is further away from the Great Hall, but closer to the TTC. Again, nice views from here too, but some rooms are better.

Whichever one you stay in, you can make the request to get one with the best view of MK...but it's not a guarantee, they will try though.

Tikiman has a great site about the Polynesian that may be able to answer some questions for you. http://www.tikiman2001.homestead.com/
