Some people are so rude!

It's obvious many of you people weren't raised in the south. I don't care how tired I am, if a lady, pregant woman, child is standing and I'm sitting I'll be up before you can know it.

Any man who sits while a woman stands is in my opinion is no man!:thumbsup2

First of all I would never flame a fellow Hockey fan, not what was intended, I am however significantly frustrated at the folks that choose a busy time to go to WDW, maybe choose a poor ill advised time to get lunch or dinner at a CS resturant and then imply that the folks that were there ahead of them saving tables were rude....it's like...hey i'm here, my time frame, get up from my table!! you ain't got no stinking food, that I have a problem with........there are certainly 2 sides, kudos to Disney if they are able to consistantly enforce a procedure that would indeed make everyone happy...albet impossible, as we are reminded time and time again on this very board.......again (not feeling guilty in the slightest) that family in the corner saving a table at the Columbia....thats me, I might even allow myself a guilty smirk knowing that I just frustrated the guy that felt i'm being rude.:thumbsup2 I then walk to the parade route, let several kids from behind me closer up front next to my kids. I help folks with stollers off the bus and I always allow another to sit in my bus seat...if the worse I do at Disney is save tables for a few minutes while I get food...well then guilty as charged.
This just my opinion about those who think it's rude to save a table while someone else in your group goes to order. If those people are travelling with others then they also have a chance to save a table and have someone order the food, however if they choose not to do that why should we feel guilty because we were smart enough to think about doing that?

I am one of the people that you are commenting about. I am a woman. And, if you offer me your seat, I will VERY POLITEY say no thank you. My son and I will be standing the entire ride, unless there are extra seats. I would also be standing if I were pregnant. It isn't a disability! I appreciate the thought, and, am not a feminist, but I am an able bodied person just like you.:) My hubby isn't (hidden disability), and he'll still try to offer up his seat.

OK.
I give up.
Hookedonears is perfect. :worship:They live their life perfectly, and no one else could ever possibly live up to their standards.:rotfl:

As Scuba has said, please look us up the next time your down to WDW. We'd welcome a civil debate when one can't hide behind a keyboard and a moniker.:)

Have a magical day!

Smart enough, or rude enough?
I don't consider it to be rude because when the Cast Members are not enforcing this rule anyone is allowed to save a table, assuming they are travelling with a few people so it can happen. So basically if they don't realize it can be done why should those people who save tables feel guilty about it?

I don't see a cop enforcing this red light, why should I wait until it turns green. I guess living and being raised in the South, we're just taught to be considerate at all times, not just when it's convenient, or when it's being enforced by an authority.

Wow I have been busy for a few days and look what i miss. My Two Cents. We were in the World in Aug on our first full day there we were at the Monorail about 7:30 to get to MK for breakfast, as we approached the walk way up to the monorail there was a long line because they only had the resort one working at the time as we got there THIS very LARGE man came pushing down through the line YELLING at his family to get to the other side that they were sending out the other monorail he pushed my daughter over and she fell and him and his kids all hit her . So we sat there with her until she calmed down and one on the CM came down to check on her so she got us up to the plat form and help us on the next monorail, think all was OK we sat down as we get half way around to the MK it stopped and said we had to wait for traffic, no big deal we were already late for breakfast anyway. So we finally get to the station at MK at about 8:30 as we are getting off guess who we see, you guess it THAT MAN and his family he was sitting on the ground not sure what happened because we wanted food but you now what CARMA BITE HIM IN THIS A** FOR DOING WHAT HE DID :rotfl2:

Scuba, how about the father of those kids who were standing behind you at the parade to also come up and stand with his kids. Oh no, it wouldn't be convenient to you because he would block your view.

You know, I might say come on up, after all we are watching a bunch of dressed up performers in mouse, duck, and dog costumes. Clearly in the grand scheme of things it's not really that damn important. to think that we are actually debating over what is rude and what isn't........I call BS, I would believe in the larger picture that there a many, many, many more folks that would rather I plop my family down and get them the heck out of the way, then use your proposed purgatory method of CS dining......Like I said earlier, I can only control what "I" deam to be rude. I cannot control what you think of me...and I'm certainly not going to alter my beliefs simply because a FEW feel its rude to hold tables. You simply believing I'm rude doesn't make it so...only in your eyes.......I think your being so wildly unrealistic I cannot concentrate on my point. If I walk into a CS resturant and everyone is waiting to find a table AFTER they have gotten food then and only then would it be rude in my eyes to go outside of the rules...seriously it's your own fault. But I applaud you for having high moral standards, I'm just laughing at you when your complaining about the thousand or so other families that have saved a table, and is clearly the most accepted form of getting tables at COUNTER service resturaunts(fine print.....your on your own when it comes to finding a table) I say get ADRs if this bothers you so much....look, now I have a headache

That is the BESTEST advice EVER!!! :rotfl: I think that would have gotton my point TOTALLY. Also I think the stratagy (sp) in all this is...If someone sits next to yours...or a niece...make sure you ease your way in until you get what you want....also make sure that if it is crowded you go through the line to get your table?!?...another one is...if someone does sits infront of you during a parade..stand firm, the CM will ask them to leave...oh...and NEVER think someone is ABLE to get up and give you their seat because you are old..or whatever...because you dont know their story...AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST...if someone knocks down your mother and son to get to the teacups...pull off prosthetic leg and bonk them on the head...I now have a good plan...and if I do take my sons leg off and do that...I promise it will be an attraction...so I can see were this thread is JUST fine hehe

OMG I LOVE this. :rotfl:

Maybe not everyone sees it as a smart thing to do. Maybe some people see it as rude. Remember just because you can do something doesn't mean you should.

That is the great thing about people, we all don't see things the same way. That would be very boring. And then what would we have left here to discuss?

Personally I don't think you can compare a law like that compared to saving tables, because what you are saying is illegal 365 days a year no matter what country your in. It's WDW who is choosing to only enforce this rule at certin times of the year, so if you think it should be a full time rule then you should tell them that next time your there.

Also when you go to your local McDonald's, Burrger Kind, Wendy's, Taco Bell or a mall food court, are people wrong for saving tables there? If so how is that any different then people doing the same thing at WDW?

You won't teach your daughter the same?

This is what I was wondering. Is she saying DH (and sons) has to stand because it's "good manners" for someone who has male genitals to stand simply because of the gender of genitals? So if a person has female genitals, she's not rude for sitting just by virtue of the type of genitals she has? :confused3 Rude shouldn't depend on what's between your legs should it? I don't get it. :confused3

(hope "genitals" is ok to use. Didn't want to use the v or the p word here cause I assume they are not ok to use on the Dis ;) )

What I'm saying is if a tree falls in the woods and there's no one there to hear it, does it make a sound. The answer is no. It has nothing to do with Disney inforcing any kind of rule, or breaking any kind of law. I need not say any more.

Oh yes I see lots of rude people when we visit WDW but I guess its there issue with manners and do not let it bother me.

Judging has absolutely nothing to do with rudeness. It's actions. How one's actions affect other people. If you feel that cutting in line (and going to get a table while someone else gets your food is the same as cutting in line) is fine, then your being rude. Someone said, well everyone else does it. Does that make it right? You have rude people and you have people who show courtesy towards others. It's black and white.

Says you! Actually some sociologists would say it's really NOT black and white. What's ok to you is rude to another. Cutting in line isn't rude if you come from a place that groups instead of queues. Cutting in line isn't sitting at a table :confused3 Behaviors are shades of gray and in the eye of the subject and/or the observer.

******

Or..... they can be just "rude". Plain and simple.

True. But I prefer to think that people have a valid reason for not getting up. It is much more pleasant for me to assume that, instead of assuming that some people are jerks.

One think I learned on my last trip was to ignore the people that I thought were behaving badly. Otherwise I would have spent my whole trip upset and frustrated, and that is not how I want to be at Disney World.

...really?...
