Look, yes Disney World parks are all around more expensive. They did take a hit the whole
time the parks were shut down. Everything costs more these days, the price of food in the
store and lets not get started on the price of gas at the pumps. Being shut down some of
their staff had to look to other jobs, some really good cast members never returned to
Disney while for some their position were eliminated and were let go. Good or bad its not
like it was 20 years ago but it still is a great place to bring your family.
The Disney Resorts are outrageously priced, thats why we are DVC owners. I set my price many years ago. Thats one less expense I have to think about.
Genie plus is expensive especially when you have a large party. Thats why we go when others don’t. Lines are much shorter.
Park hopper is a sore spot with me. Having to check into my reserved park before I can even go into another park is, well to say the least, ridiculous. I sometimes like to just stay in my room until the afternoon, but now if I want to go to another park besides my reserved park I have to check in there first. Look if you don’t want us to use our PARK HOPPER TICKETS that we purchased for PARK HOPPING than call them something else. Maybe CHECK IN AT YOUR RESERVED PARK FIRST AND THEN AFTER 2PM YOU CAN GO WHERE YOU WANT TICKETS, and charge less since they are really only PARK HOPPERLESS TICKETS UNTIL YOU MEET ALL REQUIREMENTS. Why can’t you go to your reserved park at rope drop until 2 pm if you want, then after that you can go anywhere you want, and your choice if you don’t go to your reserved park you can still go where you want after 2pm, I think thats a good compromise. I may still not like it but I can live with it. Sorry I told you that this was a sore spot.
Disneys mobile ordering at the quick service restaurants is the BEST. When I order quick service I use this every time. I order ahead and when the time comes to get my order ready we go find a table I go online and let them know I am here and they get it ready and let me know when to come to the pick up window. Its all ready and waiting for me and I did not have to stand in any lines and get my order and try to find a table to sit at.
Food and wine at Epcot is a must do. Its always nice to taste food from all over the world. But if you really want to be blown away the Swan and Dolphin for only a few days has the Swan and Dolphin food and wine classic. The cost this year is $165 per person that includes all top notch unlimited food from area top restaurants, top shelf unlimited wines from all over, last year they had St Augustine Distillary with some amazing crafted cocktails, (every year we head to St Augustine to get 2 bottles of their limited number Bourbon after 200 they are sold out.) great gift for the bourbon connoisseur. Great entertainment and fun for all adults. This was an event my wife and I still talk about and are willing to fly from the west coast just to attend. Not to take away from Epcots food and wine, they are both on different levels.
For those who fly into MCO (Orlando International Airport) and are staying at a disney property, why rent a car. How many times we have rented a car that just took up space in the parking lot the whole time we stayed at our resort and the cost was $400-$600 for the time we stayed. An Uber is around $40-$60 dollars each way, a car service is less than $100 each way. Disney resorts provide all the transportation you will need. If you decide you want to go off property for a day, I believe there is a car rental in either the Swan or the Dolphin. The Uber and private driver can be booked ahead of time and you will not have to worry how you will get to and from the airport.
My wife and I adopted a new way to enjoy our Disney vacation. We do what we want, when we want. We don’t stress over missing an attraction we go four or five times a year. If we miss it this trip we will see it next trip. If we want to skip a day at the park and relax in the pool than thats what we do.
We have learned to pack less (just recently). Every trip unpacking, bringing alot of extra hangers with us because the 15 they have in the closet is not enough. 10 pairs of shoes, sneakers and sandals are not enough, We always packed for “WHAT IF” you know, what if I spilled something on my shirt every few hours of my trip, what if I accidently soiled myself, thats double the amount of under garments needed, although i’m 67 years old and never have yet…well maybe when I was a baby. 5 pairs of long pants, its 100 degrees and 90% humitidy I think not needed. Well you get what I mean. When packing to go home there are still two suitcases full of clothes and shoes that we never even looked at. Well now thats a thing of the past. We pack only what we need to fit the days we are there, no more no less. If we run out due to a spill or some unknown reason we hit the washer and dryer. We also have an owners locker that is packed with things that we don’t need to pack anymore. When we get to our room we call valet and ask them to bring up our luggage, groceries that we ordered and our owners locker.
Order groceries from a local food store. We order ahead bottles of water, milk, creamers, some snacks such as cheeses and crackers for late night snacks. beer and wine and what ever we feel we will need. This service will deliver your order the day you arrive. Valet will put it in the refrigerator until you call them and ask them to bring it up to the room.
making our vacation stressless is our new motto. This way when we get home we won’t need a vacation from our vacation.
I’m sure you have some tips or vents to add.
