Some guest were really upset with not getting any housekeeping!

No, if housekeeping gives you a clean room, that is what you are paying for. It is a nice service for them to come in everyday and make your bed for you and take out the trash but their main goal is to make sure the room stays clean in general. It has just been easier to do light cleaning every day then to wait for the person to leave. I don't see why some people make such a big deal about having someone come in a make their bed for them. What kind of garbage are you producing on a daily basis that you need someone to come take it out every day? Just take the bag with you and put it in the trash can outside. Plus, why would you want the extra risk now of having more people in your room touching everything? Because you are too lazy to take 1 trash bag out? That is worth the risk of exposing your family to getting sick? I always found it weird to have some stranger come into the room with all of our stuff in there. Things get accidentally throw out or got caught up in the laundry never to be seen again, they are moving things around, things do get stolen at times. It's not worth it. I doubt that they are washing their hands or changing gloves between rooms. In what we are going through now, it is a good thing that they limit contact with rooms.
Guess we'll have to agree to disagree....I'd venture to say Disney would too, considering they used to pay people to not get housekeeping lol.

For me, part of the hotel price is getting housekeeping (along with the other amenities.) If I were to pay for a rental property then I know that I'm not going to have a housekeeper (unless otherwise stated,) but that's part of the difference between a hotel and a rental property.

Obviously, I won't be calling you names or insinuating you might be lazy for your thoughts, however couldn't another person make the same statement about why on earth would you take the extra risk to travel/go to Disney at a time like this... just doesn't hold any water.

For those that do like daily housekeeping, I do think this will be a thing of the past, unless you pay more for it. (in the future, after C-19) It will just be another way Disney will cut their cost.

Maybe for values and moderates, but I'm not sure how Disney would be able to categorize their hotels as deluxe if they didn't offer daily housekeeping... (after Covid)

Oh yeah. That was me. Sometimes I wonder what exactly is going on in some rooms that they need every day trash, vacuuming, trash removal and towels.🤔

I don't think it's a matter of if they need it; I think it's just a matter of what they like on vacation. My sister repeatedly turned down the money and opted to keep housekeeping...not me I'll take the money :) They just really feel on vacation when they get "spoiled" - we all have our things that make us feel good.

Good point.

Do you know of a single hotel that charges for housekeeping? Plenty of them charge for parking.
Disney only follows the industry standard when it benefits them. I think they could put the value/moderate resorts on a DVC type schedule with housekeeping. Then if you want it daily, you could pay for it, like you can with DVC now.

I think that it will come back eventually. It is in the hotel's best interest to keep the rooms tidy. And having housekeeping go into the rooms daily is a good way for them to keep an "eye" out for damage. Right now, we are in a special circumstance and with all of the conflicting information out there, it is just safer to keep contact down to a minimum. No one should have a problem with that. A person's want of a made bed is not more important then public health and safety. Everyone knows what they are going into and can choose whether or not it is worth it to them. Now when it is safe again and they still cut housekeeping, then I can see people freaking out over it. To me, complaining about not having a made bed every day now is the same as complaining about having to wear masks and keeping your distance from others.

To whom are you referring? 🤔

I've seen no one on this thread complaining about their bed not being made during these Covid times, but did express we hope it comes back post-covid.

I'm going to assume you must mean you heard that somewhere else.

They will still have it, probably keep it the way it is now. Which will be a loss for some guest. Others, will not mind at all.

But a win for Disney regardless.

I'm totally fine not getting daily housekeeping. I keep the room fairly clean to begin with. If I need more towels etc I call them on the phone.

Do people get their rooms that dirty that they need it cleaned everyday?

We keep ours cleaned fairly well too. Have been for 15 years, but I still like the housekeeping that we used to get back in the day too. But if it is a day that we don't venture out much, a rest day, then I am good with them skipping us on those days. It just varies with us with different trips. But I do believe that our options in the future will be diminished greatly.

There are a lot that do indeed do so, especially with young children and honestly, more and more hotels outside of Disney are already going back to daily housekeeping because there actually are more germs to spread around when they don't, they just won't enter the room if you are there and occasionally some other modifications, such as asking that you place soiled linens in a bag and tie off the bag before leaving your room for the day. Additionally many hotels outside of Disney that put in shared amenities have now removed them and are back to giving individual packages. Just things we have noticed when traveling.

But one thing I will not settle on is fresh towels. We use fresh, clean towels every day at our house even if we were to take two or three showers a day. I do the same on vacation. I will not reuse towels and such at home, nor at any hotel we might be staying at. Me and my daughter use at least three per shower. And Disney has always been fantastic about bringing us more when I call.

Now I do like what Disney has done with the "shared amenities" of the shampoo and such. But many others don't. Just different strokes for different folks. Nothing wrong with that. Everyone has a preference. I was very happy to not to have to pack these items this past week. But I did have to pack them at the Yacht Club last October and I had rather not.

But like I said, different guest like, prefer different options. Just the difference in people.

Three towels per shower each?? At possible multiple showers per day? Holy cow! You must have huge water and detergent bills! You do realize you are CLEAN when you use them, right? LOL

We were at Pop for 11 nights in October and they never touched the beds.
I was at Pop for 11 nights in December and they didn’t make or change them either. I won’t call for linens because they use flat sheets for the bottom sheet and I can’t get those on the bed so they stay. I wish they would do the beds once if your stay was over a certain number of nights, say a week.

Well, I use a fresh towel every shower because in Florida they don’t always dry and get a musty smell overnight. If I am in a hurry, I will use two, and wrap my wet hair with one and use the other to dry off. But I don’t reuse towels. Perhaps in a drier climate a person could use a towel more than once.
