While I haven't had time to write up a full report yet, I just wanted to report we had 4 excellent dining experiences, 12/11-12/15. :thumbsup2 These include lunch at Kona Cafe and Yak & Yeti, and dinner at California Grill and Mama Melrose. We also had a good breakfast at Captains Grille, despite having an uncomfortable table area.

It was nice to walk away from every meal happy!

We also enjoyed the CS we had, Picabus breakfasts, Cosmic Rays, Liberty Inn, a Dole Whip, and various drinks around the world in Epcot. And lastly, drinks and onion rings at Tune Inn Lounge were good too. Every thing we had was great, minus a couple of the drinks we werent thrilled with.

If anyone has any questions on these feel free to ask. :goodvibes

We're considering a return to California Grill next year but some recent reviews haven't been the greatest with the exception of the sushi. What did you order and how was it compared to previous visits?:goodvibes

Thanks for sharing your dining experience. We loved Yak & Yeti in September and always go to Mama Melrose (we go in not expecting gourmet and are quite happy with our meals and always have great service...and we think it is a very cozy establishment).

We thoguht CA Grill was just as good as always. My only complaint there is they no longer have the Banana Butterscotch Buzz on the menu and this was 1 dessert I was going to force myself to have. I usually dont get dessert at table service meals because Im so full, but I loved this.

We shared a hearts of romaine salad and the triple cheese flatbread, and we both got a filet, which were both cooked perfectly. Everything we had was delicious. I should also add we had the best seat in the house, the first table up long the windows. While we usually go outside to watch the fireworks, we stayed inside this time.

We too go to MM almost every trip. I had been trying to get it for this particular night and kept being told they were booked for the day. I was finally able to get another Diser's ADR when she was going to cancel, but this was for 4 and we only had 2, so I had 2 friends join us for this meal. We were all happy with it.:thumbsup2 We had a small issue with the waitress...she forgot my friends limes for their drinks and they commented about it, only because that kept happening to them on the cruise they had been on, so it was sort of a joke. Well, she overheard us and told us. We felt awful, but then we all took it in stride, we hadnt really said anything bad about her, thankfully. In the end she was great and talked with us (they explained the joke about the limes not being there on the cruise), joked about it, she brought us a bowl of cherries, things like that. She made an uncomfortable situation fun. I thought that was a good skill for a waitress. :thumbsup2

Oh, I forgot that! I am happy to report we got bread with oil and did not have to order/pay for it. Kudos to Disney/Mama Melrose for bringing it back! :thumbsup2

What was your breakfast at the Captains Grille like?

I will be staying at the Beach Club and am looking for a nice breakfast for my off day.

thanks.

Breakfast was good. I have to say I'm not much of a breakfast person, but DH is. He did the buffet and was very happy with. I got chocolate chip pancakes with sausage. They were good, nothing wrong with them, however I probably would have preferred an extra hour of sleep. ;)

Our waitress was really nice and friendly, but I did have 1 gripe here, where we were seated. We didn't need to wait at all after we checked in and we were brought to the table in the corner. Now I did notice almost all the tables in the middle were open, so I'm not sure why we got this table. It was the type that shared a bench with another table. Here's the problem, that table was probably about 10 inches next to ours. The only way for me to get in was to walk between the tables. I'm not a big person and I couldn't even walk straight through, I had to turn, so basically my butt was over these people's table while they were eating. I actually hesitated when we arrived there, thinking there had to be another way in, they cant expect me to walk through there. To be honest I was torn between the buffet and pancakes, but after seeing how I had to get in to the table, I wasn't going anywhere. ;)

I took a picture after the diners left to show how close we were.

How did you like Yak and Yeti? I want to try that my next trip.

We were very happy at Yak & Yeti. I had had the counter service there before, and like it, but thought the table service restaurant food was better. :thumbsup2

We shared the sweet and sour chicken with brown rice and the beef & broccoli with jasmine rice. I also enjoyed the Yak Attack drink very much, although it was chilly that day and tought to drink a frozen drink. We would definitely go back and probably get the same things again.
