Short version -- I'm getting my old job back!!!!

Long version -- back in March I was laid off after working for Beaulieu (a GA-based carpet manufacturer) for almost 7 years. Since then I've explored several different fields -- insurance, home improvements, cemetery sales, and right now retail flooring sales.
I was getting settled in at the flooring showroom when the other week I received a call from Andy, a friend of mine from my days with Beaulieu. He's since moved on to another company but still keeps in touch with people there. He called to tell me he heard from a source he could not name that Beaulieu may be hiring back some of the people they let go.
I know Andy well enough to know that he's not the type to make a call like this based on a rumor; there was something behind this. At his suggestion I called the office and spoke to the office staff. I didn't let on that I had heard something, but just talked in very general terms about opportunities that might be available. That was two weeks ago.
Last Wednesday I got a call from Dave, the national Home Depot sales team leader at Beaulieu. He was in Richmond and wanted to meet with me. Unfortunately, I was working that day and couldn't get away from work, but I did speak with him on the phone. He toured the Richmond stores and wasn't thrilled with the condition they were in. When he asked the people in the stores who their best rep was (I'm guessing of all the carpet reps), my name was mentioned on more than one occasion. Never mind that they hadn't seen me in almost 9 months!!! So he called and asked if I was interested in coming back. I said yes and was interested in talking further. He said he would pass my name and number along to Don, the new regional sales team leader, who would be making the hiring decision.
Don called me Friday and we spoke a couple of times. He heard many things about me by people in the stores, by people in the office, and by other people in the field, all of them positive. I know the product, I know the company (both Beaulieu and Home Depot), I know the people in the stores, I know the stores (hell, I helped set up 12 of the 17 stores in question). Last we spoke, he was waiting to hear back from human resources and make sure everything was clear for me to be rehired, but other than that he was ready to make me a formal job offer.
Monday morning he called with a formal job offer and I accepted. I've resigned from the flooring showroom and after working out a notice I will be starting back with Beaulieu on December 2nd!!
