Hey guys. I just need some advice. I'm trying to decide whether to do a solo trip Jan 25-31, 2015 and I've never done a solo trip before. Looking to here if people have and if so how was it. Can it still be just as fun by yourself, I'm thinking yes being its Disney, lol.

TIA :)

YES. DO IT. I was pretty nervous when I took my first solo trip last year, but I wound up LOVING it and have been three more times by myself since. You can do what you want, when you want, and you don't have to wait around for anybody.

I try to do one every spring. Its definitely a different trip, but a lot of fun. For one thing you have the freedom to do what you want when you want. Go for it!

I have never done an official solo trip, so take this for what it is worth. When I Was doing the college program, though, there were many days that I had off and my friends did not so I ended up going to the parks solo many different times. Truthfully, those were some of my favorite times to go. You notice all sorts of new details because you are going at your own pace. Plus, you do exactly what you want to do when you want to do it. If you decide you want to ride Rock n Roller Coaster, you just walk on over. You don't check with friends and family and deal with the fact that they might want to do Star Tours or get a drink first. You don't have to discuss whether you want to do single rider or ride together. You just do what you want when you want. You eat where you want to without worrying that someone is getting what he or she wants. You have great opportunities to talk to cast members that you might miss out on when you are with a group. It is absolutely fantastic. I definitely say do it!

In one word…..YES! I did 10 days at the Poly a couple months ago. Never once felt weird. And had the time of my life!
Hope you find time to watch this little movie I made during my first (and most certainly not the last) solo trip.

Loved your video! Funny enough, as I was watching, I was thinking how Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World would be excellent music to accompany some of your shots. Then, lo and behold, you put it in! And having it while you show Polynesian was genius. I liked the combination of video and still photos, as well. You look like you were having a blast. Thanks for sharing your video.

Another vote for YES! When my kids are grown, my hubby most likely won't go with me, so I'd definitely take a solo trip! Imagine the freedom, no one to wait on, no one to compromise with, "discuss" with (aka argue), just do what you want, the whole time. Awesome!

I am so glad you liked the film. Thank you for your kind words.

Thanks everyone!!!! I think I have my mind made up, my first solo Disney trip will be Jan 26-30, 2015. Can't wait. :yay::banana::yay::banana:

Poor CMs won't know what's coming. :rotfl2: I am definitely a talker and not having someone with me to talk to for 5 days will only make me seek out the CMs to get the scoop on different things. :rotfl:

Tim thank you so much for sharing your video. It was amazing and you looked like you were having a wonderful time. Hope I have as much fun as you were having. :)

Funny im in the same situation. Its always been my dream to take a solo trip (funny dream right? LOL!), for the reasons many have mentioned. Nobody to argue with! You can do what to want, when you want! I say go for it!

Leaving this Saturday for a solo trip. I normally go alone. I am staying with friends and they may join me a few of the days though.

It's not a funny dream at all. Everyone, yourself included, have given the exact reasons why it would be wonderful. My only thing is I like to talk and being by myself for 5 days will make me seek out the poor CMs to talk to and the characters. :rotfl: For me one of the plus's would be meeting the characters that my family doesn't normally want to wait and meet I will be able to. I think if I can do it you can to. :thumbsup2

Sounds to me like you need to make sure you book yourself dinner at Biergarten. Then you'll have a whole table of people to talk to! :thumbsup2

And, just saying, on the 29th, Epcot is most recommended by easywdw and with it being later in your trip, you might really be aching for someone to talk to. Biergarten has dinner reservations open on that day... ;)

Thank you I'm glad you enjoyed the film.
The CMs at ALL of WDW are really really amazing. I found that being solo, they were my saving grace. Being at the POLY helped because they are A number one…but everywhere I went where I sat and ate a meal…the bar at Wilderness Lodge, The California Grill bar with the great Clinta, The Wave bar for lunch, The CP, 1900 Park Faire, Tambo Lounge, Moma Melrose, France, Kona Cafe, Flying Fish, Ohana breakfast..…the CMs were EXTRA friendly to me because they saw me alone. After a while we became kinda instant friends. I was lucky to go off season so they had loads of time to share with me. Looks like late January will be good for you.
Have yourself a ball and tell us how it went.

Thanks and the funny thing is that would be the day I would be going to EPCOT. Thanks for the recommendation, not a big fan of German food but may give it a try. :thumbsup2

Thank you and I will definitely report back. I may even do a trip report while there. I've never done one before but nothing like doing one when you are alone. :)

What about Japanese? If you dine at Teppan Edo, they will seat you at a hibachi with other families. You probably won't talk during the cooking, but can have great conversations while you enjoy the food.

I vote for yes!! It's on my bucket list. My sister had it on her bucket list and unfortunately didn't get to do it, so I vow to do it in her honor. I was hoping for my 40th birthday but that isn't going to happen... so possibly my 50th. lmao! Nobody to answer to but yourself, your own schedule (or not) your own food choices, your own EVERYTHING! :)

Im not much of a talker, so i'll be fine. But I cant say the same for you. :lmao: Like you said, you can chew the ears off of the CM's. I'll probably do the same anyway, just to see if I can gather some interesting info that I didnt know before.

I want to do a solo trip in October, for MNSSHP & F/W. I cant wait!

BTW, have you checked out the solo/singles section of Dis? There's always people posting looking to meet up with other solo travellers. I'll see if I can find the link for you.
