IF you were going solo, and IF you felt you wanted to be near Epcot - walking distance - and IF you didn't want to break the bank - which resort would you choose???

I'd look into renting DVC points and staying at Beach Club Villas (with Boardwalk Villas a 2nd choice)

If the budget won't stretch that far, the Swan/Dolphin usually offer some pretty good deals but the walk to Epcot is further (not horrendous or anything, though :) )

Personally, I'd rent points and get a Studio with a "standard" view at the Boardwalk Villas. Go during value season and during mid-week. Friday and Saturday nights the rates go up. For example, during value season Sunday through Thursday nights a studio is 10 points. You can rent points for $10-12 each. That works out to $100-120/day. You can't beat that with a stick!

If you figure that you don't need a rental car, like you would at a value resort, it's cheaper than Pop Century! Hope you can work something out!

Well, my last solo trip (ok, it was only 1/2 solo) I broke the bank and stayed at the BWI. I don't regret a penny of it. For the first time I actually enjoyed being in my hotel room. I had a balcony overlooking the boardwalk. I loved it.

But since you're concerned about money, I'd see about renting DVC points and going either BWV or Beach Club Villas. None of the mod's or value hotels are within walking distance to EPCOT.

Another option: check out the Swan or the Dolphin hotel.

Unfortunately, in my opinion, those last two 'ifs' don't really go together. Taking out the last one...Beach Club. LOVE that you can walk right over to the world showcase. However, anything that doesn't break the bank, at least for me, isn't in walking distance to any of the parks.

Swan or Dolphin without a doubt! Half the cost of the BW, BC or YC in the same exact area.

I agree with both of these. If you can get the right deal on DVC points, the BWV are a great pick. If not, there are some great rates at Swan & Dolphin.

I'd pick the Swan without hesitation. The bed is truly heavenly, and while it's a little longer walk, you're walking along the boardwalk which is lots of fun.

Of course it's ugly as sin on the outside, but then again you'd have to look at it anyway, regardless of where you stay in the Epcot area.

We stayed there on our 2nd trip, and the only downside of the trip was I spent half of it bemoaning the fact that I'd payed for the BC the year before. I wanted that money back so I could extend my stay at the Swan.

Definitely DVC point rental for a studio, only I'll reverse the options: Boardwalk Villas followed by the Beach Club Villas... why? Simple: I have yet to try BC and simply loved the BW when we stayed there with a view of the lighthouse across the lake. The music floating in our balcony door in the evening was the finishing touch.

BTW - with studios, you'll also have an in room microwave, coffee pot, and good sized mini-fridge for those times you don't want to dine out.

I'd definitely rent points and stay BWI std studio - have done this before and it was perfect. This works best cost wise if you are not going over a weekend - Sunday thru Thursday is when it comes to cost about the same or less than a moderate.

Second option would be Swan or Dolphin - but if you have a great pin code, then you cannot go wrong with YC/BC or BWI - I'd lean toward BC and ask for a room close to the lobby.

Happy planning!
