Hi everyone,

I have a unique opportunity to spend a day at one of the Disney Parks all by myself. I am leaning toward MK, but am also considering splitting my time between MK and Epcot or AK.

I am going on a trip with a friend, her sister, and a 5 year old. We will be together for 4 days of park touring, and I am happy to go along with whatever they have planned. I anticipate that we will cover the majority of the Magic Kingdom during that time.

On the last day of the trip (day before Easter), my friend and her family like to have a "packing and resting" day before the long drive. This is a perfect opportunity for me to go out on my own. I am not the kind of person who is comfortable doing anything alone, but for whatever reason going to the Magic Kingdom by myself is on my bucket list. I guess I just feel secure and happy there! I'm looking for any insight into what it might be like to tour alone. I think I'll hit the things we didn't see as a group, re-do any favorite attractions, and definitely do 2 things I've never done (Tom Sawyer Island and have a Dole Whip), as well as go shopping a bit. Otherwise I am looking for suggestions. Are there some single-ride attractions at MK? I can't recall if Space Mountain offers it. What other small details would be fun for a single traveler?

If I have time, I might also like to go to AK or Epcot later in the day, to take in more of the details there.

I am pretty experienced with the parks, crowds, how to maximize your time, etc. Just looking for some ideas. Thank you in advance!

I've done all of the parks solo. AK was actually my favorite park solo. I really was able to take my time on all the little animal trails...stopped to look at all the scattered animal areas throughout the park, etc. It's SUCH a beautiful park. I also got to see all the shows I always wanted to see and never did like Flights of Wonder which is now my favorite show in that park.

But...if MK is on your bucket list then I think you should spend your whole day there. Everything you mentioned sounds good to me. I would also highly recommend getting a snack and just chilling off to the side in the park, people watching and just soaking up the atmosphere. There's a little side street of Main Street where they have tables tucked back at the end of it. This is my favorite spot in the MK. I take time to sit there every trip. Up overhead there are some music lessons going on and you can hear it from the open window. ;)

I also like really taking my time and poking around all the stores. Many have a lot of the same things...but I really like looking at the shops in Adventureland because there are some unique things there.

Another thing I like to do solo is character meets. You might be doing a bunch of those with the little one...but I really enjoyed interacting with the characters when I was on my own.

Most of the rides they won't put anyone else next to you that is not in your group so you will have the car/row to yourself. I loved having my own pirate ship on Peter Pan. :)

Definitely go through and make a list of things you've never done...or haven't done in so long that you can't remember them. I always do this when I'm solo and it's so much fun.

Have a great time!

I have had the same privilege and had a wonderful day. I started out with the Keys to the Kingdom tour, it was superb! I hit my favorite rides and had a snack at the bakery and did some people watching. I shopped at my own pace which was very nice. it's a lot easier to navigate around solo, I found

I know the standard reply here is to take it easy, people watch, and go to shops, I take the opposite approach to solo touring. It depends on your style, but I'd just do a ton of rides. Things like HM and Pirates that don't have long lines are great for repeats. I'd go to things like the Hall of Presidents and Carousel of Progress that my wife has grown tired of seeing. I think a benefit of solo touring is being able to see a ton of attractions and move swiftly through the park. No need to spend an hour eating! Just blitz through it!

No single-rider lines in MK, unfortunately. That's one area where solo touring at Disneyland is so much easier.

I have a solo day at MK coming up, and this is exactly what I am doing! So excited for KTTK!

This! DW had a solo day at MK while I was attending a conference once. She started the day with the KTTK tour and had a great time!

I agree with previous posters - the Keys to the Kingdom Tour was amazing! I had an entire week to myself at WDW, and the tour was the highlight of my trip. Since I was solo, during lunch I got to sit with the tour guide, and that was honestly my favorite part of the tour. We talked about a lot that wasn't included in the tour, and I hope to get the opportunity to do it all over again!!!

These are all great ideas! I have actually taken the KTTK tour so I don't plan to do that again, but I love the other ideas. I realize it will be very crowded when I am there (the day before Easter), however TouringPlans.com is predicted only a level 5 crowd day which is a surprise. We'll see!

I am also thinking my solo day will be a great day for shopping and pin trading. Is the Emporium carrying the Vera Bradley Disney bags?
