Greetings,
I'll be down at WDW Feb 2-6. I made reservations for me and two of my friends at the California Grill (where I've never been) on Sunday at 8:20. Perfect time (I was told) for the fireworks.
Now my friends can't make it. There are lots of places where I don't mind eating by myself, but I'm not sure if that's one of them. I have wanted to go there for a long time, but wondering whether I should wait until my next trip.
Any advice?

I ate there on a solo trip in May and won't hesitate to do it again. I had a seat in the bar next to the window and was able to stay there for dinner. The food, wine, and service was fabulous. Enjoy it.

They have an open showplace kitchen where you can sit as a solo diner.
I've done it before and wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

Just mention when you check in that you're dining alone and would like to
dine by the counter area by the kitchen, if available.

Yeah, I would go and sit at one of the seats viewing the kitchen. My wife and I had a window seat but next time want to get kitchen seats, I've heard the cooks will slip you a little taste sometimes. If I was going alone thats what I would do.

I dined here solo in 2003 and enjoyed it. Requested (and received) a table near the windows. Wonderful views of the Magic Kingdom, Grand Floridian and the lake. I bring a book with me everywhere I go, so I had that, but found myself staring out the window at these views most of the dinner. I timed it so that once I finished dessert, Wishes was starting.

I solo there often and find it a completely wonderful dining experience. The service and food is always good.

I typically like to try something new... didn't care for the beef can be sushi plate.

DH & I have sat at the sushi bar...he loves ot be able to see the kitchen. I htink that would be a great spot for a solo diner, as you are watching what's going on, plus the sushi chefs gab with you all night long.

You can get up when "Wishes" starts and go out on the walkway thing.

This has been a very helpful discussion for me, who is traveling solo to WDW in May. Does anyone have any other dining recommendations for solo travelers?
