I wonder how many people will cancel or move dummy bookings after the 2012 dates come out. I've been trying to book an inside cabin for the April 3 mexico cruise.....so if your canceling this cruise let me know lol! :rolleyes1

oooh, good thought.
Maybe the price of 4 nighters will come down. I have a 3 night booked, but it would be an extra $1000 to do one more night. no way!

If you rebooked onboard and told the Future Cruise desk that you were booking a dummy date then all of the "dummy date" cruisers are on the November 26th 2011 7 Day Western and have been assigned late seating. The folks at DCL are aware that there are many of us with that date.

So to answer your question, I do not think many sold out rooms are going to open up because most of the dummy dates are concentrated on the one cruise date.

Ok, good to know :thumbsup2 I was wondering about that. Maybe some people will just change their mind (please, please somebody on the April 3 mexican riviera cancel your inside cabin) when they see the new intineraries..... do I sound desperate! just kidding :goodvibes

Oooooooh!!!!! So if I am genuinely interested in that 11/26/11 cruise then I wonder if the rates might go down at all in order to help fill cabins! I can always hope! Thanks for the tip!

The other thing I forgot to mention is that they have not assigned rooms to us Dummy Cruisers. I suspect they have a pretty good idea of what their real inventory for that 11/27/2011 cruise is. But I am glad the information helped you and hope that you get some pixie dust and the fare becomes a price that is attractive to you!

I didn't know that the "dummy bookings" all get assigned one particular cruise date (with no room assignments). Good to know.

When we rebooked onboard, we were thinking that we MOST LIKELY would move our date to 2012, BUT we wanted to keep our 2011 options open JUST IN CASE we could afford to go again so soon. So we DO have a reservation for early December that we most likely will move. I would imagine that there are probably a number of folks who booked a cruise for 2011 while onboard, but in all likelihood will move it to a 2012 date.

Have no idea if any of those will be for the April 3 MR that you need, but I do think a number of folks will be moving REAL reservations, not just dummy ones.

It's not just those with dummy bookings who will move their cruises. There are probably plenty of people who booked a specific cruise for 2011, but will move it to a 2012 date because they like the itinerary and/or price better.

Because some people are reconsidering their Mexican Riviera cruises due to the violence, I think those cruises will open up just before the final payment is due.

We also typically pick a date which would be doable when booking a 'dummy' cruise and we also always choose a 3/4 day since the deposit is less and it means less cash out of our pocket. I'd be surprised if many people wound up with a November 26th, 2011 'hold date' as I'm pretty sure most others would do the same thing.

We booked 2 Dummy Dates on our cruse in June - they were both December 2011 3-night cruises. We've already moved one, and I would expect will move the other once the 2012 dates come out. Both dates had a cabin selection as well, though the rebooking agent onboard knew our intent was to change the date.

Did you rebook for a longer cruise? I booked a 4 and 3 night cruise thinking I would do another B2B but I am not thinking of moving it to a 7 night. I was just wondering if the deposit would change. I could have SWORN I saw a sign that said $100 per person deposit on 3-7 night cruises but I could be wrong.

I currently have a 5d book on the 8/16/11 5 day Dream cruise. I believe that cruise is sold out from 4C to 12. I'll probably move my reservation to a 7 day Caribbean for Easter 2012 to make it more convenient for my mom who will be joining us.

We rebooked on board, and had to choose an actual date-which the rep suggested be as far out as possible--so we were booked for a December cruise, with an actual room and dinner seating, as if it is a real reservation. The rep knew it would not be a real cruise for us, but still had to create the reservation.
That being said, this will be our final bump, so our room will be released when we change our cruise date.

Deposits amounts have changed in the last week or two. It used to be for 3/4/5 days cruises it was $200/person and 7 day cruises were $250/person and then half of that if rebooking onboard. Special cruises had different deposit amounts.
The new deposit amount is now 20% of the cruise fare and if rebooked onboard it is 10%. When you move your cruise to a new date you will be required to pay any additional deposit amount that is due.

We were on a 5-night, rebooked 2 3-nights, and have moved one of those to the May 14-night TA cruise. Unfortunately, we did the move before the change in deposit - so we did have to pay more in deposit when we moved the date. Considering the TA was only slightly more than the 3-night, we probably would have had a to pay a lot less deposit under the 20% rule! :rotfl:

I don't see us doing much less than a 7 night at this point - we were spoiled by 10 nights, and I'm sure 14 will be heaven!:rotfl2:

Same with us -- we knew we couldn't do Nov. 26 so booked a Dec cruise, with a stateroom # and dining seating and all. And we were sure it was a dummy cruise, and the rep knew that, too.

So, OP, hopefully someone will change their booking for you. ;)

I also just booked a dummy cruise but they booked me for Sept 2011 and gave us room # The CM that took our ressie knew it was a dummy cruise :confused3
