Does anyone know why on Saturday October 1st there are no rooms available at any of the value resorts? The lowest price room I could find is $340 at Coranado Springs.
I know that the free dining is going then, but the weekends before this, and of coarse the midweeks haven't had this problem.
Also Food and Wine is going, but last year this didn't make to much of an impact on value resort rooms.

The UG croud levels are 6 for 10/1, and 5 for 10/2.
Is there something else going on that weekend, has Disney held onto rooms for refurbishment, or have they set aside rooms for other reasons (last year at this time they held rooms at the ASSp for red cross and others for potential hurricane relief).
I don't actually NEED a room for that date. We have a couple coming to visit with us that night, and we could just add them to our other 5 rooms (without exceeding occupance limits).

Anyone know, or have any ideas? I really hope it's not really that busy

It is the first weekend of the Food and Wine Festival. I am sure that would have some impact with some just coming in for the weekend.

You have the first weekend of Food & Wine Festival, the first weekend of MNSSHP on 9/30 & 10/02 and the last weekend for free dining package.
lots and lots going on.
Someone on an earlier post said the saw rooms on expedia for on site, did you try there?

Saturday nights tend to be the hardest to find availability, especially close to the date. Even once in mid January, I couldn't find a value/mod room on a Saturday night. Very common for resorts to be sold out on Saturdays.

But who knows - maybe something will open up. :)

It appears the last few days of September and first few of October are going to be a bit busier than normal. It's been being reported that there is very limited availability. We went last year smack dab in that timeframe and it was dead the entire trip. I think the free dining had a lot of influence on the influx in crowds.

it's also the weekend before rosh hashana and the schools in the northeast are closed on tuesday, which means for one day off, families get a four day weekend...

thanks for all of your responses.
I just found something that is kind of ironic. I am a firefighter in Tumwater, Washington. Our neighboring City, Olympia, has sent a few firefighters to help out with Katrina relief. Our department just got a call from one of those who went, and you'll never guess where he is being staged. He is at a Disney hotel in WDW.
He said that he is free to do whatever he wants while he waits to be deployed, he just has to check in once a day to see if he has an assignment. I've heard that a lot of the firefighters that have come to help out from around the country have had a lot of downtime waiting for FEMA to decide what to do with them.
The point of this post is to say that at least some of the rooms have been set aside for these guys. I know that Disney makes a buck off of this, but I'm still happy to see that they are supporting the efforts of the relief workers.

My son in law works for Homeland Security on the Canadian border. The gov't requested volunteers from his unit to help out with Katrina. He didn't volunteer, but several others did....and they are all at Disney World! He hates WDW so he's very happy he didn't go. There's something wrong with that boy.

Are you just booking for one night? That may be the problem.

I just checked and they have full availability for that date for a 7-night stay at every resort. Even Pop.

For some reason, Disney blocks off rooms for certain length of stays. As always, my advice is to skip the website and just call CRO - although they may give you the same answer, at least they can give you the explaination and help you try to get around it.

Good luck!

I think the reason that they block off rooms with min/max stays is so that they don't end up booking all of the Fri-Sat nights for just a two night stay. Then if someone calls for a 5 or 7 night stay there is still availabilty for Fri and Sat to be included. I makes sense to me logically, they wouldn't want to shut out availability for those that intend to say longer.
