I'm totally new to the cruise world. I'm wondering if cruises do sell out. I'm looking at a cruise in March so it will be spring break time. Is that a really "hot' cruise time or are winter dates? Also do shorter or longer cruises tend to be full? I'd hate to miss out if I don't book early enough.

Yes, cruises can sell out. Anytime that school is out of session is a "prime" time for cruising. Really, almost anytime, cruise lines do their best to fill the ship.

Another fly in the ointment, if you are traveling with children, DCL only allows XX number of children in each of the various club levels. If reservations with children "fill up" the club space, you can't make a reservation if you have a child in that age group. Even if you don't plan to use the clubs.

We are just all adults so thankfully the clubs won't be an issue. I'm just hoping the few I have my eye on don't sell out!

Yes they do sell out, but usually not to really close to the sail date when they start discounting the remaining rooms. I would not worry about it in March especially with the high prices.

I had never heard that before about limiting the ages of kids. That is interesting. Makes a lot of sense to try to keep things from getting too overcrowded. We are on a holiday cruise so I know we are doomed for crowds. Used to it at WDW so I am sure we will survive!

We have been on sold out cruises and aside from Boarding, the Sailing Away party and the Safety Drill, we never found it uncomfortably busy. It's nothing like the Parks.
