Any chance for a soft opening prior to the AP party on the 19th(maybe 20th). Wouldn't you know I am leaving on the 18th but really am hoping that I get a chance to see this.

Do most attractions (vs rides) get a soft opening? Or am I hoping beyond hope.

I have not heard of any yet, but I think if you go in September, it will be likely it will be soft opening then. Official opening is Oct. 9th, same as M:S.

It's almost guaranteeded. It should be open by October.

I'm already so excited! I get to see 3 new attractions when I go in January! MS, Mickeys Phil, and the new fireworks in the MK. Yay! Darn that SLOWLY ticking countdown timer!

I think I have been living in a closet, but what is Philarmagic? I will be at WDW in December with my whole family (all 8 of us) and we are all excited to go, but I have been looking for new things since our last trip and have only found ms.

It takes the pavillion back to it's original show in 1971 The Mickey Mouse review. But rather than audio animatronics of most Disney characters playing in an orchestra the famous Disney songs with Mickey as the conductor, it uses the Honey I Shrunk the Audience movie format. Supposedly, Donald steals the baton and chaos ensues.

What is generally meant on this board by a "Soft Opening" is when the ride/attraction is open to the crowds before it has officially been announced. To participate one must be in the park, walk over to the ride/attraction, and wait in line.

I hope this clarifies it.

For those of you interested, we received a link today to the PhilarMagic web page. It has downloadable wallpaper, and hopefully news of a soft opening later :-)

Check it out. http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/waltdisneyworld/special/mickeyphilharmagic/index?cmp=EMC-PHL1001

I wonder how much testing will be needed for this, I would guess that any soft opening dates would not be nearly as extensive as for MS.

One can only hope, but never depend on the all knowing management... also, it depends on the ride elements.

IE, M:S is very complicated and technologically advanced. It needed a whole lot more tweaking. PHM is basically a show (from what I understand) and once it is complete will not need a lot of adjustment.

Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong about the relative complexities (as well as anything else;))

I hope that it is open in one capacity or another by October 10. I would love to take my grandmother to this when she visits!

I know on Sept 20 & 21, AP holders get a sneek peek. We arrive the 20th and are AP holders!!!

DH is VERY excited for this.

I just got an email today about the Philarmagic. But what are the 2 other new attractions that you mentioned? We are going Dec 1-8 and since the last time we were there the 2 rides in Animal Kingdom are new to us as well. I would love info on the other two MS and something else????

I am assuming you mean the new rides in Hester and Chesters in Dinoland in AK?

One is the Triceratops Spin, which is much like Dumbo, and the other is the Primeval Whirl, which is a double Wild Mouse type ride with spinning cars. The height restriction on this is 48". We find it to be alot of fun.

In Epcot, you will of course be able to experienc the much anticipated Mission:Space, and truly, you shouldn't miss it. The height restriction on this is also 48".

And of course, Mickey's Philharmagic will be open by the time you get here, as well!

Hope you have a wonderful time!:)
