Soccer people...who's the better goalie?

As a mom of a keeper............I always tell my 11 year old daughter that the ball had to get past 11 other girls before it got to you!!! Her club team last year had a losing season but I can say my daughter had a winning season if I look at her 'individual' accomplishments.

In the 50 minute game...............45 minutes were played directly in front of her net. Other teams averaged 40 shots on net per game while her team only averaged 4 shots on net. DD averaged 5 shots that got by her per game. Her team averaged less than one goal per game!!

Yes, disappointing season..........but my little keeper gained so much experience. Needless tosay she did not gback tothat club team this year.....she is playing town soccer and, only plays keeper half the game and is quite successful!! Soccer is now a happy sport for her........

So, it is a team sport and it all depends on how you personally view success as a keeper. In my opinion.........I have a very successful keeper in my house!!!

You are totally right. I have seen game where the goalie has to work her butt off. Sometimes those shots just can't be saved. If they are working hard then I am happy. But you are very right about the defenders. Their job is to keep the ball out of the box. My DD11 used to be a forward but played the outdoor season as a defender and she was very good. She ran that line. For indoor this year she seems to start as a forward and then she gets switched to a defender. She has become a very well rounded player.
This morning she scored the first goal of their indoor season..so I too am a proud soccer mama!
Losing sucks but if you played your hardest and worked as a team and learned something then you can be proud
