I received a postcard flyer in the mail from Dicks stating that they have a "youth" soccer package on sale for $39.99.

You get soccer cleats, socks, shin guards, and a size 3-4-or 5 soccer ball - 1 package also includes a "sack pack" which looks like a bag to carry it all in. The brands that have packages are Adidas Youth Telstar, Nike Youth Premier, and Umbro Youth Corsica

I thought it was a good deal and whereas DS6 is just starting this year we plan on getting this for him as a startup set!

thanks for posting this! I will have to look into this for at least my oldest :thumbsup2

Basically just a bundle at full price or a very slight discount. The shoes are about $17.99 - $19.99 for those models. The shin guards are most likely bottom of the line and about $4.99 - $6.99. The ball is most likely a standard practice ball, which sells for anywhere from $8.99 to $14.99. Socks are about $4.99, but can be found on sale regularly for $2.99.

If the balls and shin guards are better than just the basic, then this might be a deal. Otherwise, it's just an easy way to get what you need at full price.

I saw this deal when I went to buy DS's (12) soccer cleates at Dicks about a week ago. Wish it would have worked for me but DS is in adult size cleats:sad2: .
I had to pay $50 just for cleats and one pair of socks for him. He bought himself a new ball for $10. Once they cross into the adult sizes- the prices get CRAZY!! Some cleats were like $160!!! I told DS to look at cleats that were $45 and under and we didnt have too many choices!!

My son is also starting soccer this year. Does anyone know if there is any difference between soccer cleats and the cleats he wore for baseball??

He can use his baseball cleats. There are subtle differences which I'm not knowledgeable enough to discuss, but from everything I've been told they can be interchanged with no trouble for most recreational leagues.

Great. Thanks. At least I don't have to go buy new shoes!!!

We usually get the package at Sports Authority. I think it's cheaper than 40.00

I think we paid around $40.00 at sports authority last year for ds. this year I went to a soccer store and bought him shoes and shin guards. It came to $45.00 I believe..

I would have to disagree with this. Baseball specific cleats have one cleat, right at the toe. Soccer cleats do not. You can wear soccer cleats to play baseball, but none of the leagues DS has played for will allow baseball cleats to be used for soccer. Sorry.

Our local soccer league does not allow baseball cleats. Travel soccer here does not allow baseball cleats. One of my daughter's teammates wore her baseball cleats to a game because she couldn't find her soccer cleats :) and she had to sit out the game. Please check with your child's coach or league director on their policy as it may be different.

I took advantage of this sale for my two that are starting soccer this fall.

I thought it was a good deal because they actually had sizes to fit my DD. She is 4yrs old but only 39in. tall. At Walmart the smallest shin guards were to big for her, and we couldn't find soccer shoes in toddler size .

The regular prices listed on the items we got were 19.99 shoes, 9.99 shin guards, socks 6.50, and ball 15.00. so if you paid full price for these items it would be a deal. Plus they allowed us to mix n mach addidas and Umbro brands because they didn't have addidas shoes in her size.

Hope this helps,
Cynde
