We are going to be at Epcot in a week. If we go to soarin at rope drop, what is the approximate wait time in the standby line?

FYI, You have two threads with this question.

If you get there at rope drop and "walk" there briskly, you will get right on with maybe a few minute wait. If you "walk" there and take your time, a good group of visitors will beat you to the line and you'll have a 20 minute or so wait depending on how busy the park is that day.

If I want to ride it without a wait, we get there quickly at rope drop and have no issues getting on the first or second ride cycle.

Between 0-20 minutes. Most depends on when you arrive. Assuming park open at 9:00, get there before 8:15 and you will be close to the 0 minutes. Get the at about 8:30 and probably around 5 minutes. Understand the Rope normally drops around 8:50 so if you show up around 9:00 it will be about 20 minutes or worse on a very busy day.
In simple terms to minimize the wait get there early.

We head for Soarin' immediately after rope drop and "walk with purpose" as my mom would say, but not really too fast. I get DS out of the stroller in front of The Land and walk in with him while DH parks it. He catches up to us and we all get in line. Usually wait 5-10 minutes.

So in other words, wait outside the gate for 40 minutes to avoid a 20 minute wait inside the gate? ;)

Yeah, yeah, I get it. Waiting outside the gate for 40 minutes, while a drag, can really be beneficial. You get a jumpstart over the crowds and are several steps ahead of them throughout the day.

I struggle with this sometimes myself but I still think I'd rather wait at the gate for a bit. But I can see how others would view differently. For me I'd rather maximize park time vs taking it a little easier in the morning. To each his own!

Yes, but that 20 minute wait for the first attraction means you will get to the 2nd attraction 20 minutes later and it will have a longer wait, which means you are getting to the 3rd attraction even later and it will have an even longer wait......

See where I'm going with this?

Thanks is how I rationalize it too. It's better for me to be ahead of the pack.

Yes, I agree with you. :thumbsup2. I edited my post before I even saw any replies. I realized the little winky face might be overlooked and the post might come off as snotty.

No worries - I saw the winky face....didn't think you were being snotty. There are lots of folks that say that. In my opinion there really isn't one way that's better than the other....it just depends on how you tour.
