Soarin' Height Restriction?

I have read conflicting information on this.

One site says riders must be 40 inches tall to ride Soarin. The other site lists no ride height restriction, just saying that small children are buckled so that a strap comes up between their legs.

Which of these is right, please?

40".

I'm pretty sure you can look up all the height restrictions on a list on the Disney web site, but I don't have a link.

If the child is under another measurement (there's a line/mark on the seat of the ride itself showing the height, over 40" but less than some other unknown number), then they are required to use the extra harness on the seat belt, which is what you are describing.

WDW lists the minimum height on their map as 40 inches. (The map is one I got in mid March, so it's a recent map). As far as I know, that has always been the height requirement.

The 'other' height requirement doesn't have a height listed for it because it will depend on how high the person sits up in the seat. This picture montage that I made for the disABILITIES Board shows the seat. The white loop is for the seat belt to go thru for smaller guests.

There is a red mark that's pointed out in the photos. Anyone who doesn't sit tall enough to hit that mark needs to use the seat belt thru the loop. Since different people of the same height can have different torso lengths, their is no specific height listed for using the loop. Smaller guests must use it, but anyone can use it (my 80 yo MIL uses it because she's afraid of heights).

on our last trip there was a little girl who was not allowed on the ride at Fast Pass entrance as she did not meet the height requirement. Her parents were livid as she had been allowed to ride earlier in the Standby line.

If your child is close to the limit, make sure they are wearing their tall shoes.

Yep, I definitely remember the height requirement. The year it opened, we got FPs for everyone, but DD6 wasn't tall enough to ride. Half of us waited with her while the other half rode, and then we switched. One lucky person got to ride twice (using DD's FP).
