Is there anyone on these boards that doesn't like Soarin'?

I mean, don't get me wrong, I don't hate the ride, but I don't quite get what the buzz is about. It's nice and all, but it's too short and just kind of blah to me. We were playing Epcot Survivor earlier on these boards and Soarin' won and everyone seemed genuinely happy.

Does anyone else think Soarin' is overrated? Or am I the only one?

Maybe it was all the hype... but it seemed just so-so to me. Also much tooooo short. I won't be back on it unless htere is no line and I have nothing else I want to do.

It was very short! I'm definitely glad I FPed it instead of waiting in that monstrous line. I'd have been very disappointed in it if I'd waited hours to see it.

I really liked it and so did my DD6 but it was definitely too short. Also. I would NEVER wait in stnad-by for it. In May, we got a FP at 11am to return at 5:30-6:30! It was no problem, we just walked up there, ate at the Land Food Court (which I really liked the food selections there) and then rode. At that time the stand-by wait was 120 minutes, yes, 120 :earseek: . I thought those people were nuts to wait 2 hours. Even more so after I rode it.

All in all, I would say a great ride and even a do not miss but only with FP.

I didn't hate the ride, I just don't get the fascination that leads to the 120 minute waits that familyfirsttimer experienced.

I understand that it loads very slow, but to wait anything more than 20 minutes would be too much for me.

I adore Soarin, but I have only been on it in California Adventure Park. It is the best attraction in that park, by far. And, I will not wait 2 hours in ANY line, so we have always faspassed it.... and it is well worth using a FP for it. And yes, I would love it to be longer!!! :teeth:

You have to remember that the Survivor game as it currently stands, sets out to find everybody's least-hated ride or attraction. Put it this way - Mission:Space, which plenty of people like, will never even get more than halfway through the competition because enough people dislike it to ensure it gets voted off. Fans of that ride however cannot vote 'for' it to keep it in, only its detractors get a say in the matter.

Therefore, the ones that typically reach the final vote are the least offensive rides/attractions - they have survived because very few people hate them, even if they are not actually the most popular ones in the park. I think Soarin qualifies under this - some people love it, but most people just think it's pretty good, maybe a bit short. But because no-one actively dislikes it, it's very hard to vote it off.

Now do a Survivor where five votes 'FOR' an attraction guarantees passage into the next round (the last attraction to get to five is eliminated) and you'll see a much different winner I think.

I think your point is very valid. I love the attraction. HOWEVER, I have to agree that it was overhyped. However, I've learned from Mission Space that Disney fans and Disney itself generally overhypes nearly everything new. I though Mission Space was great, but I would have liked it MUCH more had it been UNDERhyped and I found it better than the hype.

About standby. I dont wait standby in ANY atttraction that is over a 20 minute wait. I literally will spend a whole day and not do much as opposed to waiting in a line all day.

I think many more people like it because it's not a "thrill" ride and something that a whole family can go on with very little chance of someone being scared.

I think the more family-friendly that it is, the more overall satisfaction you get from it. Of course you can have the opposite effect if it's TOO far the other way, like Stitch. However I have to say, that after reading so many bad things about Stitch, I found it VERY cute and entertaining.

Soarin' may not be that long, but I love it. DH and I hit it as soon as Epcot opens and it's NEVER a wait. We first rode it at DCA and fell in love with it then.

Would I wait in a long line for it? No, but then I don't wait in a long line for ANYTHING (ahhhh the perks of being an annual passholder living an hour away from WDW).

I must also agree. Rode it at DL and EPCOT and while fun, the ride was a makor disappointment for me!

I was afraid I'd be flamed, but I'm glad to know there are others that don't like Soarin' either.

I can't believe I waited 90 minutes to ride it. We got fast-passes first, so we could ride back-to-back. After the first ride, we gave away our fast passes. It wasn't even worth the second ride!

I love Soarin but not as much as Test Track. We rode it the first time and we had to ride it again and we still loved it second time and we still love it. I don't understand how people could hate it but I guess people are different.

The family decided not to go to Epcot this year. This thread makes me feel much better about missing Soarin.

havent' gone yet but good to know this so i don't get over excited about it.. I like MS but that is how i feel about TT after i waited yrs to go on it, like ok what was the big deal( trip before last it was just ready to open so it was a long wait till last yr) i hope ex. Everest is good.. that is the one i am really interested in... and of course it to will no doubt be blow all out of proportion.....agree it's always better to be pleasantly surpised than let down

The first time I went on Sourin was at Disney's California and there was no hype about it at all. I really had no idea what to expect but really enjoyed it. I think there has just been too much hype on it so people are expecting something way more than it really is. I do like it though and can't wait to ride it when I am at WDW in December.

I lucked out and got right on in the singles line in May. It was nice but I wouldn't wait more than maybe 20 minutes for it.
