Got a call from the family. They're at the Double tree times square and even on the 33rd floor you could hear sirens....as in I on the other end of the phone could hear the sirens. They got a Times Square view for free

Yes, that's the one we stayed in. I didn't get a view of Times Square, free or otherwise. We thought it was a pretty quiet hotel....maybe that's because we didn't get the Times Square facing windows.

It was a HOT weekend/couple of days. Temperatures for the two days that I was away was high 90's/100's. We would go out early in the morning and then head back to the resort to melt in the pool in the afternoon. Today, we had enough of the heat; so we hung around the resort to enjoy the facilities and then headed back to my place to just chill. The other two families just left....reluctantly. But the weather bureau has promised us thunderstorms tonight. Hopefully, we'll have cooler weather for the next week.

Still unpacking pictures...between NYE and the two days away, I have heaps of pictures to look at.

This is the first really cold weather & we didn't get the 8 - 12 inches of snow they predicted, so I guess I shouldn't complain too much.

And it's even cold in Florida. Temps predicted in the 30's for tonight , lots of stuff cancelled at WDW.

I'm trying not to nap and sleep at the right time. But my body doesn't want to sleep at the right time. I've been awake since about 5am my time. Also woke up at about 2am.
I haven't been a GREAT sleeper for a while...but given how tired I am I would like to sleep...

Our first day in Brekenridge in Colorado had a HIGH of 8 degrees F

But as I sit here on the hottest day of Summer so far I'd sooner have it.

I have a friend near the Great lakes in Michigan....and they are getting the lake effect snow

What do they cancel at WDW? How are you today?

I don't know what they might CANCEL.
But they WILL close water parks, water slides at hotels and anything pretty much involving pipes and water
Even if the temps will rise well above 50 (the cut off for opening water parks) by 10am. It will still be closed for the day.

It's really warm today, over freezing and ice is melting off the driveway in a big way.

Not going to put this in a TR so I'll post them here

We went to Lancaster County where the Amish live. Saw some lovely quilts but even at a dollar this strong they were VERY expensive.
But did get some things.

One Amish lady chooses to work with wood rather than fabics...and I got this LOVELY wooden box

I got a Quillo.
This is a small quilt that folds back into a pillow.
It is quite plain apart from this which is what forms the "pillow cover" of sorts. But quite lovely

Then we got some Pot holders/spice mats.
Most can function as both. Some lend themselves better to one than the other.
If you put in a spice sachet you can then put a pot of tea on that or something warm and that aroma will fill the room.

The patterns vary.

This is a 'less common' one although quite traditional

This is the 'log cabin' style

The Star patterns

Then I also got some cushion covers for a 14" filler

In terms of prices for quilts. There was a lovely store that had quilts from craftsmen and women across the county. My favourite was one that was $1350. The "cheapest" they had was about $900.

When we got to a farm where they sell direct. They had a king sized one for $675. Very tempting. But still a lot of $$
