Just for a bit of fun, my company has launched a photography competition which they plan to run regularly. The inaugural photography competition topic was "Festive".

Each employee is allowed to submit up to two pictures.

Judging is by two 'panels'. The first was by a popular vote of all entries.....all employees were allowed to vote for the picture they liked the best.
The second is by a panel of photography 'professionals'.

Every picture (anonymous) is judged by both panels.

I missed out on the populous vote. But what can I say? I'm used to not being popular.

But the "professional judged" category.....

The second verse of the Australian National Anthem starts with:

"Beneath our Radiant Southern Cross"....

First prize is a $200 voucher to one of the photography shops in Australia.

Watching Mythbusters and hoping my tax return will finally come through tomorrow. It was allegedly deposited on Monday, but my bank has no record of it.

That's frustrating. I hope the $$$ gets deposited soon.

Me, too, since I had plans for that money At least my mom bought the mixer for me and will let me pay her back. I just wanted to be able to pay her back soon, since they're leaving for Vegas on Monday and she doesn't have any money to play with now that she bought the mixer

I hate when 'they say' the money should have been deposited. Do you know if it is the tax office or is it 'in the bank' somewhere?

This is what the IRS says:

Your tax refund was direct deposited on February 6, 2012. If your refund is not credited to your account by February 11, 2012, check with your bank to find out if it has been received. Please wait until February 11, 2012 before you contact us again because we are unable to take any action until then.

I called my bank yesterday and they said they have no record of the deposit and nothing showing as pending for the next 48 hours. So tomorrow's the 11th and if it's not there tomorrow, I'm calling the bank one more time and then calling the IRS.

That's 5 days of interest the bank doesn't have to pay if they hold on to the money until the very last possible date.

And then you can use the mixer when your dad is home. Are you going to break it out soon?

He has class tomorrow morning, so Mom and I are going to run to the store and pick up a couple of things (I need a box of cake mix and some heavy cream and powdered sugar) and then come home and use the mixer. Then when they go to Vegas, it's coming down into the kitchen, since I should have my return by then.

So, is there a continuation class for cake decorating? Are you gonna sign up?

There is, and I already talked to the instructor about it. There was one this month, but I couldn't afford it (plus, new job = new schedule = uncertainty about making it to class). There isn't one in March, but there is one in April, so I'll be taking that one
