My lass and I arrive in Orlando, from the UK and via Miami, for 5 days on Dec 5th, and our only intended park visit is to our favourite, Universal.

I'm just wondering what the new Mummy ride is like, and what type of ride is it ? I saw something online that suggests it might be a rollercoaster style ride - if thats the case I might be riding alone as my better half isn't too keen on them. I guess I could wait till the Blues Brothers come on and run in then so she won't be bored waiting...

So, will I be riding alone, and if so is it worth my time, or should we both just have a boogie to the Blues Brothers instead ?

Thanks.

This is a must ride attraction at Universal. Yes, it is a rollercoaster style ride. The ride itself is short, but pretty intense. The theming and action during the ride is awesome. If the wife doesn't like indoor rollercoasters, leave her outside. Just jump in the single rider line and you should have no problem getting on quickly. Enjoy...

It's worth riding.
Why is your spouse scared of coasters? The height? The butterflies?
Well, the Mummy is inside, so you are not way up high. And there are only a few airtime hills. If you hang on real tight, you'll be ok.
I have an onride video if you want to see it. Scroll down the page, right click the links, and save them to your hard drive.

I HATE rollercoasters.
I cried my first time on Rock-n-Rollercoaster at MGM.
The only one I can really stand is Big Thunder Moutain at Magic Kingdom.

however - I LOVED The Mummy ride!

when you get in the ride vehical, tell your girl to suck it in, and pull that lap restraint down as far as you can...I did this and my bum didn't MOVE from the seat the whole time. (DH likes the air time, I don't)

There is one steep drop - but it really isn't that bad.

I think I rode this 7 times in one day...great ride with some great effects!

This ride is awesome! We rode it three times! It is the best ride in Florida, in my opinion.

I love roller coaster! I love the intensity and the fear of them. The mummy, although an intense ride, was a very tame roller coaster. There is one momentary drop, but if your spouse misses this ride, she is missing out on one of the best rides in USO! It really is a wonderful ride and I recommend it.
I rode this one with my friend who is terrified of coasters too (seriously, can only ride Big Thunder Mountain in WDW) and she loved it. I managed to get her to do this one 3 times in a row.
Hopefully, you can convince her to go.
Jo

Thanks guys, sounds like one we shouldn't miss !

One thing might convince her not to miss out - She loved Space Mountain, mainly cos of the lack of loops - I am right in assuming there are no loops on the Mummy either ?

Thanks.

my coaster hating DH loves mummy. It took a while to convince him to ride, but once he did he loved it.

The newest ride at USF, Revenge of the Mummy, combines dark ride technology with rollercoaster thrills. It involves sophisticated animatronics that would make disney blush. It also involves
'brain fire'.

If you want a description I will PM you it.

Did it last week. Very fun ride---I don't like big hill coasters. I like dark ride coasters (space mtn, RNR, etc).. It was easy. Much smother ride than Space Mountain which is bone jarring rough. Very fast, too.

Thanks guys.

We both love Space Mountain, so I don't think she'll have any problem doing the Mummy.

THE MUMMY RULES..................

it's the bestest ever........

While my kids and I are extreme roller coaster fans, my wife is not. She rode the Mummy not knowing what it was for sure. She loved it!! Rode it twice more. She even rode Space Mountain twice after vowing 12 years ago she would never ride it again. My advice it to ride it once....it's very short as coasters go....and then you be the judge!

My verdict.....it's AWESOME!
