So, what's the earliest time you've gotten the mousekeeping knock on check out day?

Just wondering the answer to this question because my mom is at BWV (checked out already this morning) but she said they got "the mousekeeping knock" and the woman saying "HOUSEKEEPING" from outside their door at 7:45 :scared1: She said she got up and went to the door and said "Isn't check out at 11??" and the woman said "yes ma'm". And then my mom told her they'd be checked out of the room by 9:00 or so.

Am I the only one that thinks that's just way too early for "the knock"???? The last time we were at BWV (February) we got "the knock" at 8:30.

I know they have to make sure everyone's getting up and out, but 7:45??? Check out's not till 11 --- and leaving is hard enough as it is :sad1:

On a side note, we stayed at Kidani from May 14-19th and didn't get "the knock" at all -- but, we were fully out of the room by 9:15 or so.

Usually housekeeping is standing outside my door on checkout day by 9:00AM. But if it's a day that I get a full cleaning, I'm lucky to see them by 4:00PM. (Same for T&T day, often it's around 3:00PM before they stop by).

We always hang out the 'Do Not Disturb" sign until we're ready to check out and have never been bothered.

I think we got the "knock" at about 8 am when we were at BCV a while back. Now I put the "do not disturb" sign out so we're not disturbed on check out day. Has worked like a charm!

1 week ago today we checked out of BCV... "the knock" came a little before 9am. I politely told the HK we'd be there til 11am as we had a later flight. Never saw her again!

7:45am is a bit early - I would be slightly annoyed unless I had already mentioned to the front desk I'd be gone that early. :confused3

Hope your Mom had a great trip!

We've never gotten the knock. But we usually hang the "do not disturb" sign on the door. We are also usually gone by 9am or 10 at the very latest.

I think that if there is no sign hung out, then you are fair game. They are trying to clear rooms for incoming guests. I agree that 7:45 is a bit early...but housekeeping might think that you had an early flight out or something.

I just checked out of the Beach Club on May 26th and got the 'knock' at 8:30am. My Magical Express ride back to the airport was at 8:40am. I wonder if Mousekeeping has that info too?

I have to ask if she put the "do not disturb" sign on the door (she usually does). Their flight isn't until after 6PM tonight so that wouldn't be why. I'm just guessing that the hotel is booked out, and they are trying to get everyone out that needs to be checked out today :confused3

We just returned from our first stay as owners at AKL (we were at Jambo house) and we didn't get a knock - no sign out either! And we left our room right at 11 am. In fact - it might have been a little after as we were waiting for bell services. As for our T/T day - have no clue when she came - she had come and gone by the time we returned from the parks! :goodvibes

We're always out of the room by 6:30 am on check out day, so we've never had to deal with housekeeping knocking on the door. :) I wish there were some way of notifying housekeeping that we've left - I always stop by the front desk to let them know we're leaving with the hopes that they'll inform housekeeping that the room is vacant and ready to be cleaned.

We were not rushed at all last summer when we checked out of Kidani either. Matter of fact when we were taking our luggage to the airline check in about an hour before 11:00, they were in the hall and never said anything to us. :thumbsup2

That makes sense, as they are trying to service the rooms and have them ready for incoming guests.

I agree, we shouldn't complain about early knocks on the door on check out day and also complain when the room isn't ready on check in day. There is a reason they go to the check out rooms first!

Just pick up the phone before you leave the room and push the button for housekeeping to say you're vacating. I always do this when we are leaving early. I'll also flag down the housekeeper in the hallway if someone is around---they always seem very appreciative to know they can start cleaning the room!

i have done this too.

or when they come early and I am not ready to leave. when I am ready will try and find them to tell them we (or I) am leaving now.

No hallways at OKW. :) And I doubt there would be any housekeepers in the hallways at 6-6:30 am. ;)There's not been anyone at the front desk at that time of the morning....usually I have to yell hello a few times before someone comes out of the back office. (I think maybe last year there was a bell at the desk to let them know someone was there)

Mod note:

Several posts have been removed from this thread for being off-topic. Please confine the comments to housekeeping times, with no personal comments about the housekeeping staff.

Thanks.

I've gotten 'the knock' just before 8am. I told the housekeeper that we weren't heading out until around 10ish. But...again, 'the knock' came about 30 mins later!!! I should have put out the privacy hanger, but didn't. Again, I stated we weren't leaving until 10. The housekeeper got quite snippy with me...something that hadn't happened to me before. About 9:15, she knocked again. My response? 'Really, we are NOT leaving until 10...really!!!'

Yes, I do understand that the rooms need to be cleaned and turned over. And this housekeeper probably wanted to get all the rooms in one area done before heading to a new area, but I didn't need to have her knocking every 30mins!!! I was having an 'issue' and didn't want to go and sit in the lobby until it was time for the bus.

Now, I just hang out the 'privacy please' hanger and forget about it.

I just dial housekeeping from the in room hotel and tell them like I do at every Hotel.
