So what happens when Disney takes back the contract.

Hope I'm around then to find out

... One of OKW's current draws is the lower point schedule. That will certainly disappear if the points are re-sold. Most of the buildings are not ADA accessible. ...

Actually, the ground level rooms in all OKW buildings are accessible and the resort does already have an appropriate number of fully accessible rooms.

That said, I expect that OKW will not have a second round of sales in it's current configuration. Just imagining the building codes in 2042 and the construction techniques and materials likely to be available at that time, I'd expect DVC to raze the resort and begin anew if timeshares are still a viable option at that time.

Stay tuned!! :)

The whole landscape will change. WDW will be a different place. (It wasn't even there 35 years ago.) So will Orlando. Will all four parks still be there? Will there be more parks? Will there be new competing attractions in Orlando so that guests are spending more time OUTSIDE WDW when they visit? Or will a new vacation destination surpass Central Florida resulting in major downsizing of the travel industry there? Is the next Walt Disney sketching on his high school desk right now? Or in Iraq drawing cartoons on a jeep? What will happen to the popularity of golf? What will happen technologically? Militarily? Economically?

I agree with rayelias that the resorts will be rebuilt with new themes.

The one thing we can be sure of is MAJOR CHANGE in our world between now and 2042. I'm sure that will affect WDW in ways we can't anticipate.

Since I'll be in my 90's, I'm hoping they turn them into retirement homes ;)
