"So what do you want to do next?" An April '10 TR...final thoughts 8/2 p. 63

Love the early MK shots!! :cloud9:

OMG, we were in about the same exact spot for the opening show! You'll have to wait and see when I do that update.

Thanks!

Cool, can't wait to see your update. :)

You are my hero for making it to the 7:00 EMH:worship: I've never seen pictures of the opening show in the dark. Awesome! And so few people. I bet everything was pretty much a walk on! If we ever go during Spring Break or Christmas break we are definitely going to hit that 7:00 EMH. It looks like you almost have the park to yourself! What time do you think the Family of the Day showed up this day. 6:00 am? Eeek!

LOL! By the time the show started it was starting to get light out. I definitely recommend doing the EMH, especially during busy times. We always have such good luck with them. :thumbsup2

hahaha, I wonder what time the family got there!

What a delightfully empty park!!

I know, right?!

How odd to see MK lit up in the morning! The crowd looked really light for Spring break, though. I've always been scared to go on our actual wedding anniverasry because it's in March which is Spring Break season here.
I tear up at the opening song too!

When we went in December a couple years ago we did EMH and it was dark then too but that was obviously later in the year so you'd kind of expect it.

So dark! Good for you getting up so early! Your pics look like its closing time :upsidedow

I predict your first ride has the word "space" in it.....

haha, yes they do.

Hmmm, I don't know...popcorn:: ;)

I don't want to watch your video of the opening ceremony no matter how tempting b/c I want to watch it for the first time on our next trip and I want to experience it for all it's worth b/c I know it will make me cry!!! That is crazy that you arrived when the sun wasn't even up!

Sounds like a great idea! You will love the opening show. It is so great. :goodvibes

Wow I do remember you saying that you were gonna be going to 7 am EMH but I didn't realize it'd still be dark out when you left the resort (it just didn't click lol).

Great spot for the opening MK show! :thumbsup2 That show definitely makes me misty eyed too! Love all the shots from when the park was still empty. That's so cool...

I'm watching Idol as we speak...I hope Aaron goes home, hes our least favorite!

It was so nice being able to stand right out in front and not having to worry about tons of people then getting in before us.

I was really surprised that Siobhan left after the judges raved about her! But I didn't think she was that good. I'm just glad Lee was safe. :)

Okay you got me on the video. My eyes teared up watching it. It is such a wonderful way to start off a day. :cloud9: Great pics and update Sarah! I can't wait to hear what you rode first and whether or not you made it through Tomorrowland!:goodvibes

I have the opening song on my ipod and listen to it a lot :rolleyes1 but there's just something different when you're actually there in front of the train station. How can anyone not love it?!

I can't believe how dark it still was when you left AK, and still even when you first arrived at MK!

I have never seen the opening show at MK---I really mean to change that in May, but it may mean I have to leave teenaged girls in the bed! :)

haha, yeah, just leave the girls behind. You won't regret it. ;) It's such a cute show...it's so Disney if that makes any sense at all.

OH MY WORD!!! I have never been there in the morning when it was still dark outside! What a trooper!

LOL. It was actually kind of fun being there when it was dark. :thumbsup2

WOW, I can't imagine showing up to MK and it being THAT dark! That seems like such a fun experience, especially to see the sun eventually come out and over the park.

I'm assuming that PhotoPass photographer is for the family who helps open the park? That's pretty cool to get those pictures if so!

I wonder what ride you guys went on first. Love the suspense :thumbsup2

It was neat because it was so dark when we left the resort. When we got there and were watching the show the sun was finally starting to come out and then by the time we got off our first ride it was light out.

I don't think the photopass photographer is just there for the family of the day. I know I've seen other people getting their pictures taken too but yeah, what an awesome picture for the lucky family. So jealous of everyone who gets to do that.

WOW, MK at 7 a.m.! I would be in heaven! :cloud9: I've never been to Disney when the parks opened that early but it must have been awesome to be there when it was still "dark" out.

Hmm, what did you do first? It seems that everyone hits the hub and either goes through the castle to fantasyland or they take a right and go to tomorrowland. Joe on the other hand, always, always, always, takes a left. :lmao: It's amazing that we can get all they way around to fantasyland in less than an hour and half and ride EVERYTHING when we do it that way. Most of the time we get our own ship on Pirate's because EVERYBODY went the other way. :rolleyes1

So, which way did you go???????

It was definitely awesome especially because we did not expect it to be THAT dead.

Well, since we had no small kids with us we took a right and headed toward Tomorrowland. You'll have to keep reading to see which ride we did first. :)

Great update! Magic Kingdom looks so beautiful that early in the morning. I love that all the lights were still on when you got there. Here's hoping for a fantastic day in the park for you two.

I always love seeing the MK all lit up so it was neat seeing the lights on in the morning. We definitely did have a great day. :goodvibes

Wow! That's so cool that you were able to see the MK opening show in the dark!!:thumbsup2 The park looks really empty and the lights are so pretty!!!:cloud9:What a perfect time to go!:goodvibes

Sometimes I almost prefer the MK when it's dark just because I love the lights. haha

Oh my goodness. That is so early! I would have been like one of the little kids who were asleep on their parents' laps. Except my 19 year old self wouldn't fit on my parents' laps. At least not on a bus.

Anyway, that's so cool that you got to see the Opening Show just as the sun was starting to come up. And it's crazy just how empty it was. I'm used to traveling in the summer when we get packed into the little plaza in front of the train station like sardines. And the sun is already out and beating down on us so everybody's got a little pre-sweat glow going on. It's gross. But worth it to sing along with the Opening Show.

Oh, trust me, we've experienced those packed plaza areas too. This was a nice little surprise that we could stand wherever we wanted to. It was great for taking pictures too because nobody was in my way!

Thanks for posting the little video of the opening show. I've never seen it before! I got chill bumps and a little teary eyed, so I know that it's a must for my next trip, (many moons away at this point. :guilty:)

My guess is that you rode Space Mountain first.

Usually for morning EMH (including the day we were there) Adventureland and Frontierland aren't open, so Fantasyland and Tomorrowland are the only options. I don't want to spoil Sarah's report, but she can tell you about the lines at Pirates when we finally worked our way around there.

You're welcome. Glad you liked the video. :)

I thought there was one time we were there when they did have the whole park open for EMH. :confused3

That's why I said "usually".

During one of our Easter trips in the late 90's or early 00's when we stayed at the Polynesian they had early opening at each park every day AND all of the Magic Kingdom was open early. That was probably one of the years when MK closed just about every day of the week because of the crowds. Maybe they do that at Christmas sometimes too.

Wow! It was so dark when you got on the bus....but that seems to make it that much more exciting!

I'll probably only see those MK lights in the am hours when we are leaving at 2am after Evening Extra Magic Hours!

I enjoyed seeing it dark outside. It was pretty exciting being our first day and going to the Magic Kingdom!

haha, I don't think I could ever make it until 2 am for those EMH! :scared1:

Wednesday, April 7, 2010 cont'd (part 2)

As is our tradition, Dad and I made our way down Main Street and turned left at the bridge to Tomorrowland. I know I already posted this picture but I just realized I hardly took any during the morning!

The rope was still up so we had to wait maybe a couple minutes if that before they let us into Tomorrowland. It was amazing how few people there were but of course there were still a few people who felt the need to run. :confused3 Maybe it's part of the thrill. As I'm sure everybody was able to guess (I know Mickey_Mom did!) our first stop was Space Mountain!

Ahh, one of the Disney classics. On our trip in August Space Mountain was closed for the refurb so I was looking forward to being able to ride it again. Since it was EMH the line moved quickly but I did notice the games they added, and like a little kid I couldn't really keep my hands off of the game controls. :rolleyes1 Every so often I think I launched a rocket or whatever. haha

We quickly made it to the loading zone. One of the perks of being a party of two is that whenever they need to fill a rocket they will always ask for smaller groups. The wait was already pretty short but we were able to skip some people when the CM started asking for a group of 2. Awesome! Needless to say that wasn't the only time we'd have that happen to us on this trip. :)

As for the ride itself I didn't notice a ton of changes, maybe a few lighting differences. But it's still great. And by the time we got out of the ride, the sun was finally out. Yay!

Our next stop was Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin! It literally was a walk-on and Dad and I were able to ride in separate cars, something I usually feel guilty doing. I don't remember exactly what my score was but it was atleast 150,000 thanks to hitting the one target on that orange robot in the first room (it's worth 100,000 points if you didn't know that!). I am still holding out that the refurb this ride to make the lasers more user-friendly like the Disneyland version.

After Buzz, I'm pretty sure Dad asked me "what next?" :rotfl: so I decided on the Astro Orbiter since that's one attraction we don't manage to do on every trip.

This is one ride where being a party of two is not so good. Let's just say those rockets can make for a tight squeeze...it may work with two kids or a kid and an adult, but two adults? Not so much. Ohhh well. Still a fun ride and it's neat to see some of the views of the Magic Kingdom from the rockets.

Continuing on our way through Tomorrowland we stopped at the Speedway. This was where we encountered the first "line" of the day. Because they only had one track running right away there was a little bit of a wait but once it started building up more they got atleast one of the other tracks running. I'd say we waited maybe 10 minutes. Definitely not bad!

By that time it was getting close to 8:00 which meant the rest of the park would be opening. So in one hour we had done four attractions. Where would we go next? Stay tuned...popcorn::

YES! I agree that it's great being a party of 2! It came in handy for Weird and me when we went to Toy Story Mania.

Disneyland lasers are user-friendly because ... they aren't attached? Haha, I think part of the game is struggling with moving that laser cannon around! I actually remember to look for and shoot the big claw in the first room. That was the best one for me (and for some reason, easier to consistently aim for than the back of the orange robot's hand).

Next you're heading to ... Frontierland?

:yay: YAY for getting four things done before the park had officially opened!

I'm like you, I didn't notice that much different with SM either.

I didn't notice any changes in SM either... I think they just changed the queue and I could tell some lighting differences

Wow, you got a lot done in one hour!

4 rides in an hour is great! I didn't realize that morning EMHs were so good. Might have to pull myself out of bed for one sometime.

I'm so bad a Buzz. I'll have to remember - orange robot for the future....maybe I might actually beat DH one of these days...

I agree with you 100% We usually skip Astro Orbiter, because 2 adults is bad enough - when one of those adults is...um...."fluffy" well it's just awful!

I'm guessing that a ride on BTMR is in your immediate future :cutie:

Wow, 4 rides in an hour!! That is great!

I stink at Buzz! Last year though I hit "something" and lookie!!!

IMG00066-20090919-21511.jpg

I hit first then Joe hit. So, will this ever happen again..............NOT! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

That's great you were able to get 4 rides done in an hour!!!:thumbsup2 Don't you just love morning EMH? :goodvibes

I'm guessing you make your way over to Frontierland next? popcorn::

Awesome that it's 8:00 and you've already knocked out Tomorrowland! I've never actually ridden Astro Orbiter. In fact I don't think my kids even know it is a ride:confused3

Gotta love AM EMH's at Mk...can't beat how much you can get done.:thumbsup2
We haven't ridden Astro Orbiter since Jan. '06. Maybe we'll squeeze it in this trip. DH and DS loved Space Mountain. DH said changes were minimal that he could tell but he felt like the ride was smoother. I'm hoping to ride this summer and see for myself!
