...to have a variety of TV channels available while vacationing at our DVC locations?

My wife and I have lengthily vacation during January and February when the days are shorter and nights are colder and when Disney doesn’t offer special events and attractions to absorb some of that time of day. In turn we depend on the TV to fill in those evening hours but the offerings at DVC do not include the shows we enjoy. When we go in the fall, all sorts of evening activities are available and the need for finding something to fill our time is not such a problem. It seems that if the slogan when you check in is “Welcome Home” and they really meant it, then perhaps they should offer those TV channels that most of us are offered at our home locations and let us choose which programs to watch. We found our selves listening to our desired broadcast by driving off property for evening meals and listening to satellite car radio for the news. We did find some of our TV programs on at McDonald’s near Blizzard Beach. I think that if you can find other TV networks on property then it’s not much of a stretch to extend those same networks throughout Disney or just the DVC locations. I would think with the number of DVC owners we should have some say in our desires as to the basic TV offerings even though it may be a penny or two more on our annual dues or on the cost of other accommodations.
Does anyone know if the Swan or Dolphin resorts have a larger selection of channel?

Ask all you want..

Disney is not going to respond.

Disney wants you in the parks spending money, not in your room.

Disney wants you watching channels they have a finanical interest in, not the others....

(Swan/Dolphin selection is not outstanding either IMHO. In one of the stange facts about hotels...the cheaper the chain the better the channel selction. You often get the entire cable selection at a Fairfield Inn and 10 channels at the Ritz :) )

Exactly! Same reason Vegas resorts have very few TV channels- they want you in the casino! I don't understand the complaints, there so much to do at WDW, why spend the time in front of the TV?

Another thread on Fox News was closed earlier on the DVC Boards. This is not a DVC issue, DVC has the same cable system as Disney World Resorts. It is likley not offered due to cost, but for further info, please refer to current issue of Disney Files for any DVC related info on this issue...but basically, it says they are limited to the channels made available through their cable system. So again, not really a DVC issue.

Please do not reopen this discussion on the DVC boards.

Thanks.
