When I hear singing along from my nearly 10 year old. I thought cool, she knows my songs. It was Falco's Rock Me Amadeus (don't judge me). So we were really rocking out, singing along and having a grand ole time.

Then I listened closer.

Instead of "Amadeus Amadeus oh oh Amadeus" she was singing "Hot potato hot potato oh oh hot potato".

I nearly wrecked from laughing. :rotfl:

:lmao: Awesome. That is *adorable.* I've also hard "Rock me, I'm a danish" OMGosh I almost died..

Which version of Rock Me Amadeus was it? I have been hunting for the version with the biographical info in the middle, and haven't been able to find it. (I mean.. . .I'm looking for it for a friend. Honest. Really. ;) )

Greatttt now I'm gonna start hearing that one when I hear the song. After hearing the "hot potato" version, I could see where she got it. It *does* sound like it says that! And it sounds like "I'm a danish" too now that I think about it. lol :lmao:

It was the regular ole German version, but I think my hubby has that version too on itunes. I'll check tonight.

I was just listening to that in my car today! I love that song. I have the version with the words in the middle. There is no other version in my book!

Kiddie misheard lyrics are hilarious!

At first, I was afraid you were going to say she had misheard something a little more...improper. LOL!!

(I'm a dumb *@#, I'm a dumb *@#)

She'd be in trouble for singing along with that one. lol Though I don't censor much with my kids, if there are inappropriate words in a song, she'll actually bleep herself. lol

You mean to tell me I've been singing it wrong all these years?

When my husband and I were first dating (in other words, he was in his late 20s), we were in the car and listening to Queen's "We Are The Champions." We're both singing along. Then it gets to the part where they say, "No bed of roses/no pleasure cruise..." but that's not what I heard coming out of his mouth. I asked, "What did you just sing?"

"No bed of roses/No flesh or bruise."

The whole time he had been singing it that way.

So it isn't a kid thing.

Yeah, I know I've sang lyrics the wrong way a few times (or 50). So I'm guilty as well. It just struck my funny bone that she thought it was hot potato. How does that make sense at all? lol

Meanwhile, in other news, Queen still rocks!!! :thumbsup2 That's on my ipod too!

Was she ever a Wiggles fan? :lmao:

(and yeah, I've had the Wiggles' "hot potato" song stuck in my brain since I first read this thread! And my kids have LONG outgrown the Wiggles - TG!)

Thank goodness NO! I had to suffer through Barney and Teletubbies but never The Wiggles.

I've got both versions. I love that song! The video is a bit cheesy but fun to watch.

My first thought was "The OP's daughter can sing the german words?".
