So tired of VAMPIRES

While I find the whole Twilight hoopla to be rather annoying, I LOVE Ann Rice's vamps and I've very recently gotten completely hooked on Charlaine Harris's Southern Vampire series. And I'm a huge fan of old vampire movies from Nosferatu up through the Christopher Lee flicks of the 70's. Oh - and I can't leave out Barnabas Collins! He was one evil blood-sucker and I am a huge fan to this day!

I agree. I don't mind giving vampires some depth beyond being mindless monsters, they can actually be much scarier and unnerving that way. Although Anne Rice's vampires were somewhat conflicted and retained some ties to their humanity, they were never these politically correct, vegetarian, cuddly vampires. Too bad Ms. Rice went all born again, her work is much less interesting now.

vampires suck. i am sick of them. bleh

ETA - haha no pun intended

I like scary vampires. I make an exception for Angel but I prefer the vicious Christopher Lee style vampire. :)

Barnabas was interesting. He switched between being evil and kind very convincingly. I was all about Quentin in those days though.

I enjoyed Twilight however I do prefer my vamps to have some evil in them too. Makes it much more fun:)

Mmmmmmmm Angel:cloud9: Now lets not forget that while Angel was good vamp with a soul he was darn right HOT as evil Angelus:lovestruc Angelus could wear those leather pants like no other;)

My vampire experience to date: the TV show Dark Shadows, 'Salem's Lot, first "Twilight' book and, last month, the book Bite Marks. Bite Marks had some horrifying moments; it does not contain cute little twilight vampires.

I don't get tired of them either...I love to read and there is so much good Vampire Lit out there. I can take or leave the Twilight stuff (they were fun reads though) and the True Blood TV series is so good. I loved the books too. I also am surprised by how much we are enjoying the Vampire Diaries on the CW. I am working on reading some of the older vampire lit by Anne Rice and other authors now. I don't know...I just really enjoy this genre (and by the way I think there is enough material and diversity to classify it as a legitimate genre now!).

Just had to get that off my chest.
I know! Went to Barnes and Noble to buy my daughter some books for her birthday and vampire books were all over the teen section. It was really hard to find something readable that wasn't vampire related. Too bad she doesn't like science fiction/fantasy.

I grew up in the 60's with a huge crush on Barnabus Collins. I don't think the love of all things vampire is anything new.
