So this was frustrating.... (BOG understatement)

So this morning I'm just casually perusing dining availability for my family's trip in November. And then - suddenly... there it was! Be Our Guest lunch for FIVE people. On a day we have MK planned. PURRRRRRFECT!

Or so I thought....

When I clicked the seemingly unattainable lunch-time to book my reservation the pesky "you have another reservation for this time period" message popped up. EXCEPT.... this time, I was not given the option to cancel the other worthless-by-comparison lunch reservation to snatch up BOG. Panic ensued. For the next 5 minutes, my household was turned into a chaotic shrieking semblance of its former calm self. A child was crying, parents shouting at each other, frantic running from room to room to find other electronic devices that could simultaneously cancel the other piddly reservation and secure our golden goose.

As you can probably guess, from the title of this post, by the time we went through the process of canceling our original lunch reservation, refreshing, getting back the BOG page, the reservation was gone. Sigh....

Anyway, what gives? Why is it that every other time I've booked a new reservation when an old one is in place it gave me the option to then and there cancel the original reservation? This time, the system just extended me a big middle finger and said - whoops, sorry. You already got one.

Do I just chalk this up to another one of Disney's website quirks?

I've had that happen a few times as well. No obvious reason for it. Hooray for Disney IT.

Uhhhhh that is the worst. Happened to me when I was canceling Coral Reef for Via Napoli. If it happened with BoG and I lost it, I'd probably cry.

Sorry this happened to you!...probably just 1 in many crappy glitches you will run into! Breathe, try to find perspective, and be grateful that the kids will have a great time despite what we adults find to be a sort of deal breaker!...Dessert for breakfast always makes things cheery! Find a way to do something fabulous despite!

I would be annoyed with that too, so sorry. Hope you are able to find another opening.

If you try searching for it again about an hour later it should pop back up.

I've had this happen. Next time, hit OK (or whatever the button says), click the time again, and it should bring up the cancel button for your other ADR. It's just another lovely glitch.

I'm sorry that happened to you @mrsjoannh13 but I love the way you tell a story. I'm pretty sure the vivid scene you painted has played out at our house in the past as well. If your tour planning career doesn't take off you should consider writing a book. Good luck catching that elusive BoG.

You'll get it if you just keep trying. If you don't then plan something else you love. We had BOG lunch last summer and it was meh. We ordered, sat, ate, filled our own sodas. Pizza Planet was more exciting. Just my not so important opinion.

I would also like to add that I had - not one - but TWO of those ADR sniper services in effect looking for BOG openings this morning. I guess it came and went so fast that the sniper sites didn't even pick it up. Just goes to show there really is no substitute for just looking regularly when you have free time. So.... Humans 1, overpaid useless machines 0. But then I didn't get the reservation due to a Disney site glitch. So it's more like: humans 1, overpaid useless machines 0, then incompetent glitchy machines 1, same human 0. I think?

Im sure it was disappointing but really, its just a place to eat. I can't imagine getting this up in arms about eating at a particular restaurant (this coming from someone who has never ate at BoG and wants to).

Bwahahaha! And I agree but you said it so well. It IS just a place to eat. I'm not sure ANY restaurant is worth that much bother to get. You eat to live, you don't live just for a restaurant. Sorry, but my opinion.

i thought lunch was counter service. i ate lunch a couple of times and it was nice but not over the top great. actually my favorite place for lunch is either casey's or pecos bills but then i like chili

Your description of these events was classic. Exactly how I picture my household during this type of situation. I feel your pain!

I am sorry to hear that you suffered through that, but...God, I loved reading your post! After I laughed out loud, I had to read it again, with proper flourish of course, to my wife and she was busting up. Cheers!

This is exactly what I do. It only takes a few seconds. I know it is too late but in case it happens again, it should work.

Did you get to eat there, was it worth it to you? I enjoyed it, and was happy to find a lunch reservation 3 days prior to our trip. But there are so many other great places to eat at the MK. Funny story though, of course those of us on DIS understand your pain!

Happened to me twice last week for a lunch at BOG in November. Totally frustrating. I feel your pain.
