So that was Soarin'...

We rode it for the first time last December. It was good, but I didn't feel I had to ride it again. However, it grew on me. I'm going back in a little over a week and I'm looking forward to riding it then. I agree about Disney having so much to offer. This last time we didn't get to ride POTC, TSM, or one of my favorites- The Tikki Room. But my kids had the time of their life.

I have never been a fan of Soarin' and I don't care what anyone says, where you're seated makes a HUGE difference in the experience. IMO, anything lower than the top row isn't even worth a 20 minute wait.

And the first time I rode it, I didn't smell oranges. I was so focused on the dangling feet above me. I rode a second time, requesting a top row seat, and it was a much better ride and I smelled the oranges.

Oddly enought I prefer the middle row. I think on the top row you can see the top of the screen which takes away from the experience for me. My favorite spot is middle row of the middle section.

I'm with you Op..Its nice and all, but not worth a wait and the first time I ever rode it, I left disappointed.I guess b/c everyone was raving about how phenomenal it was I expected more

can anyone tell me what the other smells are?? I always smell the oranges, but aparently was completely oblivious to all the other!!
so if anyone has a list of all of them so I can remember to sniff at all the right times next year :goodvibes

I don't have a list, but you can also smell the pine forest and the ocean!

The first time I rode Soarin' I didn't smell anything, the second time I smelled all the smells. LOL

Soarin' is usually one of those rides my family would go to, see the long wait and even the long wait for a FP and move on to something else. I rode it for the first time in January with my sister, we both liked it and enjoyed the experience. I did it again in April with my oldest niece, again it was enjoyable but she didn't seem too thrilled with it. In November I rode it with my younger niece, now that was my favorite Soarin' experience... she started out a bit nervous, didn't know what to expect. Once we really got going she loosened up and started to laugh. By the end of the ride she was literally whooping it up and laughing up a storm. She made the ride fun and enjoyable.

And you thought Everest was outstanding? :confused3 As far as coasters goes thats not very exciting at all. Soarin is much more interesting to me. See this is what you have to learn, just because you didn't think it was that great don't think others don't. That's your preference and to be honest, I hate posts like this...but again that is my opinion. Your just asking for this type of reply.

While I may not agree with the op, he was only expressing his opinion and clearly stated it was only an opinion (just like you did).He was not trying to state a comment based on fact. I don't think he has anything to learn, and I personally appreciate hearing others opinions whether I agree or not. He wasn't asking for this type of rely, you just chose to give him that type of reply. ;)

@DisneyBill85, you keep on posting and welcome to the DIS!

Our family LOVES Soarin and the lovely smells:cloud9: but no ride is worth a couple hours wait!!--Thats what fastpass is for:thumbsup2

The OP was stating an opinion, just as you are entitled to yours. No need to berate someone for it just b/c you disagree.I don't think the OP needs to learn anything.

I could care less if I go on it. DH on the other hand loves it and is willing to wait up to 45 mins. I just don't see the appeal. Yes, it's neat to feel like you're flying and to smell the scents, but I don't see it as a must do.

he's supposed to reach out and grab you. i'm kind of glad he doesn;t actually. my dd hides in my shoulder for any possible yeti scenes as it is....she;s so glad he's broken LOL!

I don't think he was reaching out at us but he was out when we were there. Honestly, if he moved, I don't know if I would have seen it because WE were moving so fast. It's definitely a more exciting ride if your car is up front, especially with the view of the sunset. We could see the park below us covered in mist on one trip. It was very nice.

i'm with the OP 100%. soarin' is neat, but waiting more than 30 mins for it is a waste. i liked the set up of it. i enjoyed being hoisted "into" the screen. i liked the scenery and some of the fragrances that get released. but when its done, i was left with a "that was it?" feeling.

now TSM on the other hand, totally worth the hour+ wait! :)

Different strokes:confused3

Personally it is one of my favorites. It is a theater show, not an omnimover - expect it to have longer waits, even w/ FP. Agreed it might be expectations, if everyone is telling you it is the greatest maybe you were expecting too much.

I like Soarin' just fine, but you can find a million rides like it at Six Flags or other theme parks.

But...I also felt 'meh' about EE. Its just a bigger version of Big Thunder Mountain and was not worth the wait in line.

Part of the awesomeness of EE is the queue. There is so much to see!

i really can't believe we waited 90 minutes for soarin'. after we came off, my husband said it was more 'borin'' than 'soarin'.... we were on the bottom row on the left and it was awful. didn't smell anything, didn't feel like we were flying. i was more interested in watching the other units with people in than the show. although i did like the last scene flying over MK. wouldn't go on it again. no way. and we didn't smell anything either.

Our very first time on Soarin' I didn't smell anything either. Each subsequent time we have...one of the things I do love about the ride. I can see how it wouldn't have a WOW effect...especially for someone who might be more of a "thrill" lover? I personally will probably never do EE! It looks so cool, but I am a major wimp when it comes to rides! LOL Too scary for me. :scared1: Like almostveverything else in the World, it's usually about personal preference.

I agree. I enjoy Soarin'.... I wouldn't wait a long time but I do really enjoy it. Test Track on the other hand, I just don't get! Everyone likes something different!
