So tell me about the Fairmont Pacific Rim in Vancouver...

Here's my dilemma...So I found a good rate on a travel club for the Fairmont Pacific Rim. I can stay there three nights for harbour view for approx $1389 OR the Pinnacle - also harbour view for $753 - almost half. The frugal side of me wants to save the money for excursions but I also want a great hotel that is close to Canada Place and it's #1 on Trip Advisor!!! I've heard that the Pinnacle is dated and the walls are thin and there are no complaints for the Fairmont. Not sure that we would be spending a lot of time in the hotel... So talk me into it or out of it....based on your experience at either place. TIA!

P.S. Could one walk to Canada Place with a bunch of luggage from Pinnacle - is it far? Doable?

I stayed at the Fairmont Pacific Rim a few years ago for a conference. It's one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed at. Spotlessly clean, comfortable bed, spacious room, super quiet, and contemporary without being sparse. Not to mention a gorgeous view. I can see why it's #1 on TripAdvisor and I would love to go back some day.

It is a big price difference and I would probably struggle with that decision as well. I think my desire for a nice hotel would win out over my frugal side in the end though.

One could easily do that.

One could also call a taxi and pay a very reasonable rate for a 2-ish minute taxi ride.

I loved the Hyatt Regency, FWIW. Stayed club level, which was awesome. Barely 10 minutes to saunter to Canada Place.

We weren't staying there for a cruise, but I do research when we go on our trips.

Using google maps, you're looking at a walk of 650 to 800 meters*, depending on your walking route.


*800 m is .49 mile, FWIW. For some reason I thought you were European at first!

We stayed at the Pinnacle last June. Totally walkable less than 10 minutes, and we had our luggage with us.
