So, tell me about SRL's in DCA

Tell me about Single Rider Lines in DCA. I will be visiting alone soon and want to plan to take full advantage. I haven't been since the first year DCA opened and I only remember Soarin' having one but not sure if it's still operating. I need current info as WDW often opens them and closes them such is the case with TSM and Soarin' (though indicated on the map, they were not operating on my last visit there).

Toy Story Mania and Soarin' are the only ones who offer single rider lines and that is only if there is a need for single riders to pack the ride. Screamin' lines do not have room for single rider that I can recall. Again it is based on need and they even only do a few rides in either park as fastpass during weekdays during the slow season.

For those looking for SRL info at DCA: I went the third week of March and I'm sure this changes from time to time but here's what my map indicated...SRL are offered at Toy Story Mania, California Screamin', Maliboomer, Mulholland Madness, Soarin', and Grizzley River Run.

My personal experience was:

TSM SRL was announced to open 1 hour after opening, I decided to get in that line at 10 min. 'til and it opened about 5 min. before. Used the SRL later in the day and it was still a lengthy wait.

I rode Soarin' during the pre-opening time and then rode again using SRL.

Did not see the SRL for Maliboomer but the line was short anyway and only running one tower.

Did not use the SRL for GRR because it was last ride of the night and line was short.

Of the 5 or so times I used the SRL, 3 of them asked for 2 single riders to go together, which put me riding with a stranger who already had their party go ahead as a single. If the request had been posed with slightly different timing they could have ridden together. So, the moral of that story is you MAY get to ride with someone in your party but isn't guaranteed. All were good sports about not riding w/their partner as it wasn't expected to begin with.

Did you try the single rider option at Screamin'?

I've used it each of the past 5 times i've visited. It's great because I can ride it in a few minutes, while the non-screamin members in our family ride Triton's Carousel next door.

I strangely did not use the SRL for Screamin', just worked out where I had FP's each time for it so I ended up riding with someone from the SRL

FYI for other readers, the Carousel was closed during my visit.

I've used the SR lines on Screamin' (brilliant for me, but hubby got hung up with a grouchy seating CM and it took AGES for the SR group to get boarded...CM was finally spoken to by one of the guests and he then put them all on at once...totally ridiculous, there were cars leaving with just one rider, he was blatantly ignoring the SRs), Soarin' (brilliant, but you get funny looks from other guests), and TSMM (not as brilliant, but each person I rode with the two times I used the line were hilarious and great fun...and the second time I was put with a pre-teen, and they asked him and his parents if they were OK with a person riding with him which was nice).

With Grizzly they treat the normal line like a SR line anyway, putting groups together, calling for singles, etc...I've never been there when even FP was needed for Grizzly (though the machines were on!) and I've never seen the SR line open there...and I've never waited longer than 5 minutes, but I'm sure the SR line is great there.

Won't go on Maliboomer, and Mulholland Madness seems to be invisible to me as I never even notice it, so I haven't used those.



For anyone who wonders, the Screamin' SR line is at the wheelchair entrance. You go to the CM at the line, get a pass, then go out of the line area, up the hill, and in the wheelchair gate. That's where single riders wait. But you do have to have a pass from the CM.

Mt DD and I also used SRL over spring break. It worked great on Screaming....did it 3 times. On Soaring it was a close thing, I think it ended up saving time, but not a lot.....and it can be a significant lag until you get back together with another SR. On Midway Mania i actually think we waited longer than the standby line.It was only with parties of 3 or 5 that they need a single.
