Well, we were supposed to go on our honeymoon from Oct. 8-11 too bad it isn't going to happen now.

I have been planning since March, my FH has been working through a temporary agency for over a year and a half on the same job, finally they are hiring him into the company YAY! AT $4 more an hour than I expected:)

But... He will be on a 90 day probation period which doesn't end until Oct 25th He has to move to a new area, for his hired in spot, his old boss said he could probably get it but apparently the new boss isn't going to even try. And then I noticed yesturday that he has orrintation on the 11th so even if they would have let him have the two days off, we can't go.

We may just postpone it for a little while, we are looking at Thanksgiving weekend 25-30 (he'll have two vacation days, so we'll get an extra day) but I am waiting on him to find out if he can request the days off NOW! I have a feeling someone else may have already asked for them off since it is a holiday.

Are other choices are the first or second weekend of December...

I am just really concerened (we lose $500 due to not being able to use our plaine tix) and now Tix are almost $100 more! And then I'm concerned about getting a hotel on this short notice.

Ugh...I am so sad Now i should take off my counter..man that makes me want to cry....

Is there any way that you can call the air lines and speak to a manager to ask if they wave the $500 dollar fee. I wonder if because you have to change dates d/t work sched. they would condiser this.

Sorry to hear the bad news. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Good luck.

By the way congrad's on the new job even though this has put a dent in your orininal plan.

Sorry your Disney trip won't work out, but isn't that a small price to pay for your fiance getting a good job?

Why not plan a special 1 year anniversary trip, instead of trying to figure out how to make it happen yet this year? Might make the new job a little less stressful for your fiance. Sometimes it's hard to ask for time off for vacation when you'e just been hired.

Best wishes and congratulations on your coming marriage.

I'm sorry to hear you're going to have to reschedule your trip. I will say, on a positive note, that early December is a FABULOUS time to visit WDW. Disney World is extra magical when decorated for the holidays. Plus, the crowds are generally very manageable. There are also some neat special events like Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, Osborne Family Spectacle of Lights, and the Candlelight Processional. Plus, then your FH wouldn't have to try to get time off during a holiday weekend.

Maybe a month from now, you will be able to make more definite plans & codes for December discounts should be out by then. Also, maybe you could change your plane tickets by paying a $75 or $100 change fee (once your plans are firm!). I did that one time on non-refundable tickets when my plans changed. Congratulations & best wishes!

This is why I work for myself - I can't stand "asking" for vacation days. Good grief.

I think the airline might give you a break - they have been known to do that if you explain your situation. And, here's the good thing that you may not have thought about. The day after Thanksgiving WDW is decked out for Christmas and it's beautiful. It's a great time to go.

CharityLynn,

Don't feel bad, we had to cancel our mini trip over Labor Day, because of work related problems as well.

Oh well there is always next year.

you should be able to change those plane tickets at a 100 a pop to get new ones at a later date, I know that isnt exactly the best thing, but its better then buying 2 new tickets, I have done that before with Delta, it is worth looking into. Best of luck hopefully you will be able to get time off at a later date.

Thanks for all the advice. I will check into changing the tickets, they are through North West Airlines.

I am happy about him getting the job. Believe me. We have waited for 19 months for this, he has wroked there for that long and now it sucks because that is all pretty much erased and he starts new now. Oh well.

It may seem a little selfish wanting this so bad, but our honeymoon is a gift from his parents for our wedding they are DVC members and have given us this wonderful gift. I have never been out of the tri state area. ( I live in MI, I have been to IL,IN, and Ohio) This will be my first flight and everything. I just want some time for my and Al.
He gets 2 vacation days on Oct. 25th..too bad it wasn't two weeks sooner.lol

thanks again.

Does anyone know how hard it will be to try and get a room this late?

A room for December? Should be some availability but I would call & book something soon. If discount codes become available (check mousesavers.com & stay on these boards), you can always apply the discount to your existing reservation.

Ok, I must have been jumping the gun. Al was told yesturday at work they will reschedule his orientation and elt us go on our honeymoon but he not miss any other days in that 90 day period. :) I am so happy!!!!!
