I am in the US and planning a trip to Europe for 2014. My DH is from Scotland and we will be visiting his family and friends. I decided as part of the trip we would also be visiting DLP for our first time. I have been to WDW many times and am really excited to see DLP!!

I thought it would be pretty easy to plan since I have planned our WDW trip a few times. Yet everything seems so different! I am wondering if the meal plan is a good deal? We used the meal plan at WDW and loved it because everything was prepaid but I feel a little nervous about how the DLP plan works with the vouchers. Do I only choose the fixed meals? BTW- would would be getting the full board standard plan I believe. How do I know which restaurants I can choose?

I am also a little overwhelmed by the hotels just because I don't know them like I know the WDW ones. Because we are spending 4 weeks in Europe we will be on somewhat of a budget so I was thinking of staying at the Santa Fe. Will all the rooms be remodeled by 2014? I love the Cars rooms but am not fond of the old rooms decor. I don't know if it is worth the extra money to stay at HNY?

Any advice or information you can give would be great!!

you can contact the hotel just before you go and ask for a Cars refurbished room at the Santa Fe, if the hotel hasn't been completely refurbed before you go.

I don't like any of the dining plans at DLP, they don't save you money and they are restrictive.

I would imagine the Santa Fe refurb will be finished next year as they started last year and we got a cars themed room, along with the rest of the group I went with and we were in different blocks

Have you priced the Sequoia Lodge? I liked the rooms of the Santa Fe but wasn't impressed with anything else but the price was good and it was only a place to sleep

Thank you! I will def do that if the refurb is not finished.

I was thinking the dining plans didn't seem to save any money. I guess the only plus to them is that food is already paid for and I wouldn't have to worry about a food budget. However, I think I can eat for much cheaper than the DLP plans provide.

Do all purchases go on a Key To The World card like at WDW? It would be nice to just have one bill at the end.

A list of resturants where you can use your vouchers can be found here:

The Santa Fe refurbishment will be completed this year. I would sugest the Hotel Cheyenne, it is in the same budget range as the Santa Fe but is totaly unique and is a fantastic hotel if you like western themes.

Any advice or information you can give would be great!!

Hope this helps.

I will check out Sequoia Lodge. I can't remember if I priced it or not!! The price of Santa Fe is good and it IS only a place to sleep however I keep going back to the "This may be our only time at DLP" and I want it to be great. But I'm also cheap.

Thank you!

Yes you can do this, if you give your card details at reception when you check in they will issue you with a chargeable Identity Card. You can check your charges on the TV in your room.

I'm with Elaine on this but if you really wanted to budget in advance for your meals you could load the money on to one of those pre-paid travel cards.

You can get a rough idea of prices by looking at menus on DLRP Magic here. :)

That is a great idea! We will be in Scotland for most of our trip so we will not need euros except for our time in Disney/Paris. This could work out really well for us.

I did see the menu prices () and have been studying them and debating about the meal plan. I wasn't sure which restaurants were included so the link to the list was really helpful. Seeing how limited the choices are on the meal plan and adding up what I think we would actually spend (we don't NEED a dessert with every meal for example) I think I may just stick to a budget instead of buying the meal plan.

I appreciate everyone's help! I think DH is already tired of me talking about Disney, which will only take up 3 days of our 4 week trip! :rotfl: However, I have already been to Paris, London, and all over Scotland so DLP is the most exciting for me!!
