Does that mean I have to start buying all the Barbie videos??? :crazy2:

Barbie Mermaidia...about a doll playing a fairy playing a mermaid... :confused3 :teeth:

Saw the commercial last night and just shook my head...I see my future.

Maybe not. Most of my nieces hate that stuff. They like playing with dolls, but not Barbie. Thank goodness. BTW, I agree with you--that stuff is really silly.

DD has the barbie as rapunzel (sp) dvd that she just HAD to have. Yeah its sitting on the shelf collecting dust. She has a few barbies but doesnt really play with them much. So you may luck out. :) Buy her all the disney princess movies instead! haha

Oh, Lord, I hope not for your sake. Just buy her Barbie dolls and let it be :crazy2: :rolleyes1

I have two daughters, 5 and 6. We have lots of Barbies - and they don't play with them much. They have never asked for a Barbie video, and I have never encouraged them to get one - thank goodness. Actually I don't encourage video watching at all.

But watch out for the babu doll stuff. Worst mistake Santa ever made was getting the "real" babies that eat and eliminate. They call them the "poop and pee babies."

LOL! At least they don't spit up...

Maybe not. DD9 never got into Barbie. But she did get into the Bratz craze  Ugh! Those dolls are just plain ugly.

I have a 6 1/2 yo DD who has 1 Barbie that she got as a gift. She honestly has no interest in them or dolls of any sort for that matter. Her passion is stuffed animals. They're like drugs - whenever she gets her hands on a few dollars she has to buy one :rotfl2:  .

Well, when dd was little, I don't remember there being any Barbie videos, thank heavens. Just remember that anything you buy, you will watch 7 zillion times until you can recite it by heart. :teeth:

Dd had a bunch of Barbies and their paraphenelia, courtesy of her paternal grandmother. They were each immediately stripped of all their clothes and thrown into a big Rubbermaid box. For some reason, Barbies were all nudists at our house. And poor Ken was always deformed in some way--one was missing a leg, the other one's head was always popping off. :lmao:

My girls are 5 and almost 3 and they LOVE Barbies- not the video but the dolls- we have too many! Now we need more clothes and furniture type things- they have the Castle from Princess and Pauper only because it was on Wally World super clearance at the time of DD 4ht b-day I think they play with that stuff the most of any other toys right now. Thankfully we keep all toys in the basement (Barbie has her own 3 drawer (plastic) dresser thing which is packed full!

It's funny that you mention this.

My DD wanted the Barbie DVD's a few years ago and I didn't think they would be good.

Surprisingly, they are very well done DVD's. Evemn my DH enjoyed watching them with her. :)

LOL !! We were at Blockbuster a couple weeks ago and DD3 picked out a Barbie Fairytopia DVD, the one with the pegasus. I said to her "I don't think daddy will watch that" and under my breath said "I don't think I want to watch it either". A dad behind us in line said "oh you'll love it!! My daughter has it and we watch it all the time".

Well, we watched it about 8 times in 5 days. It was hard to watch because of the computer animation. But DD liked it and we tolerated it :)

I was kind of surprised she picked it in the first place because she's sort of tom boyish and she only has 2 Barbies that she could care less about!

Nope. My girls hate all the "girly-girly" stuff....(much to my dismay, mind you). So no dresses, hair bows, bratz dolls, dance classes, cheerleading, gymnastics, etc.....Younger dd HATES shopping like it is torture.

Now stuffed animals...yes, we have hundreds.:lmao:

Unfrotunately my DDs love those videos. There're not awful. The princess and the pauper one comes with an audio CD. We listen to it in the car. It's no that much worse than most of the other stuff they listen to. We have Lion King and Aladdin in the car right now too :)

I actually don't mind the videos nearly as much as all the merchandise that goes along with them. It seems that they end up being one big commercial. My girls had to have all the Pegasus stuff and all the Princess and the Pauper stuff...and the darn Pegasus styling head is BIG. (btw, they got this stuff as birthday gifts mostly from grandparents. I did NOT shell out $30 for the Pegasus head or the interactive Seraphina cat...which never worked that well. Sigh.)

DD9 is all into Mary Kate and Ashley and sitting through those movies is at least as bad as the Barbie ones :rolleyes1 but yes, they do also love Disney ones, thank goodness :goodvibes

Laurie :)

Some of the Barbie DVDs aren't too bad---the classic stories anyway. The mermaid one, no thanks.

It gets worse though---try having a bunch of Polly Pocket stuff around. If I find one more teeny-tiny shoe or clothing on my rug, I'll go nuts. :rotfl:

Thankfully my girls think Bratz are as ugly as I do so I can tolerate the Barbie/Polly stuff a bit more.

Raise your hand if you were a tomboyish kid and your DD is a girly girl and vice versa! Funny, I got my Cheerleading peppy SIL's daughter and she got my no doll liking girl! We need to trade.

Get ready for what I hate most about Barbie- all the junk she comes with, and as far as I can tell, no container to put the junk. Hair styling supplies. Belts that are hard to keep track of. Shoes, my goodness the shoes!

If she is looking like a girly girl, and you will be able to tell if she constantly wants to brush your hair at a year old, then welcome to Barbie hell! I have to ask, but I think DD still wants one at her 8th birthday!

No, my DD is 4 and only the MIL buys Barbi stuff, only because she know I don't like Barbi. Barbi doesn't like our house, she always wants to stay at MIL's. :cool1:

:lmao: Raising my hand as high as I can go! My girls are so the complete opposite of me, if I hadn't carried them through pregnancies myself, I'd think they were someone else's girls!

DD does not play with Barbies much. We have my old ones and those get pulled out once every 4 months or so. So far we have avoided that phase. :)

Yeah, they actually are bad. Really bad. Plan Nine bad. Ishtar bad. My god . . . Barbie Princess and the Pauper . . . TWO badly-CG-animated Barbie dolls . . . a tomboy cat that thinks she's a dog . . . "You're just like me, I'm just like you . . . " < cowering in corner, whimpering > . . . please . . . make it stop . . . :badpc:

And don't get me started on the one with the unicorn, whatever the hell it was. :rolleyes2
