so my gpa is below 2.0..

More than likely, they won't. My friend went down in 2008 with a GPA under 1.0 and completed the program.

In any literature I've seen, the only reason GPA comes into play is if your college has requirements to participate in an internship or leave campus.

As just said, it depends on your school. My school was really into the CP and had a guy who ran it. It was up to him if you went on the program or not. I remember when I was accepted my gpa was below a 2.0 too. I took some summer classes and did my best and was able to raise my gpa. The guy's rule was that you must have a 2.0 upon arrival at the program. Silly I know. He claimed if it's below a 2.0 the week before u leave he would call disney and notify them you are ineligible. There were a handful of times I thought I wouldn't be going, even got a phone call from disney telling me my position was canceled.

That's how it was at my school. If your school is not big into the program, then I think you would be fine. Disney wants you there (cheap labor) and won't know unless your school tells them. I think one reason at my school it was the way it is because i received 6 credits for the program, while other schools won't give anything. Some schools don't even have any campus reps, and 1 or 2 students participating. If your school is like that then you're good.

Can you take any extra (easy) classes?

If I were you I would never cover anything up if asked! I have been with Disney for 11 years and did the program myself on 98, 99 & 00. I still work for the company and am a promoter of the CP.

Try to work hard and get your GPA up before you go. Just be prepared if they ask or if your college decides to call and update them.

one of the girls on a diff thread said before she got excepted she had to drop classes for the semester for personal reasons. She then got excepted and told Disney and they said it was fine as long as she was in classes when she applied, so, for Disney's end it really doesn't matter its just up to your school and if they have rules.

Disney doesnt care, really they dont. They just want the cheap labor, I can not sum it up better than that.

So is mine, sadly enough. I asked my adviser if that would stop me from going and he just looked at me and asked if they require a transcript. I said no, and he said then there is no way they're going to find out, because he's not going to tell them. (Sounds SUPER sketchy I know, but oh well!) I'm also not going to take any of the Disney offered classes, just for extra security. I'm just going to take two classes online to keep me enrolled and hopefully boost my GPA.

My school isn't into the program that much either. They have some booklets and fliers, but that's it. So they aren't screening any of the kids that want to go.

Ok this is gonna sound so parentlike but I have to say it. If your GPA is that low wouldn't it be better to stay in school and get it up before you do the disney CP? I mean the cp is awesome and can make you look better but if you show you have a college internship you have to show you college info and the fact that you, if you don't raise your GPA, flunked out. I would just consider the long run. Make sure your priorities get messed out and either don't go this time and raise the GPA or use this experience to buckledown and work harder when its over.

Wow, he sounds pretty chill. If it were at my school, the advisor would be on the phone in a heartbeat to tell them you can't go. He as such a _______ (can't say what i want to on here) :littleangel:

My gpa is currently below a 3 and it's probably going to stay there after this semester. Are you guys sure they don't look at or care about gpa? I mean, to graduate from my school, all you need is a 2.0 in all business classes and a 2.0 in core requirements so if I'm above what my school requires for graduation, Disney shouldn't care, right? And I'm still on track to graduate in 4 years.

Disney doesn't really care, just as long as they have their cheap labor :P

considering the "requirement" is a 2.0 and you have a 3.0, you would be more than fine.. Disney does not call and ask about your GPA, nor do they request a transcript. The GPA requirements are only enforced by your school. You will be fine, there's no way they find out about your GPA ;)

So Disney won't call my school? I had a 1.8 GPA last semester and I'm doing MUCH better this one but I'm afraid my school will give them LAST semesters. I really could care less about getting credit for it I just need to get out of here and Disney is my only hope. Will they reject me after I accepted beacuse of my GPA? It said they have the right too after I paid my $100. Now I'm depressed and scared! I can't even book a flight because my mom thinks they will reject me because of my GPA. :guilty:

if you havent already, call and ask. my sister (who would kill me if she knew i said this) did the CP with an almost non-existant GPA, she talked to them and im not sure if they worked something out but she did the CP.

I went through the same stress last year since my GPA was 1.9. I pretty much held my breath until after Traditions. Basically Disney explained it to me that they won't pull the plug unless someone from your school tells them to. They don't care and my school fits into the category of not caring. When I went to the office that Disney told me would have received the list, they had no idea what I was talking about and said that yes, they get a list but Disney doesn't ask them to do anything with it. They have to be willing to actually look at it, verify each student, and then give Disney a no anyways.

As for staying in school and boosting your GPA, I actually am doing so much better in school now BECAUSE I left and did the College Program. It gave me a chance to figure out what I really want and to grow up a bit before I wasted anymore time or money in school when I really wasn't happy there. For everyone it is different but for me at least, I really doubt I would have been able to turn myself around so much in a semester if I had been at school.

Disney never once asked me what my GPA was or to see transcripts. Not during check-in. Not for the two Disney classes I was signed up for. My school didn't know I was going to Disney so they would have reason contacting them if I did have a low GPA. If you aren't receiving credit (I didn't because my advisor sucks) it shouldn't be an issue.
