So mad- Star Wars event messing up my Dining Reservations!

They should alert you because if you have a dinner ADR I think it's a fair assumption that most people follow that up with fireworks. I very rarely complain about Disney - I think their service is excellent. However some people are paying $10,000+ to visit at a park per day. Many plan months in advance, wake early to obtain ADR's and FP's to fit the schedule for the park. Simply switching and deciding you cannot attend fireworks is unfair.

The fireworks were never on the schedule though that's why I'm confused by your want. Many people on the boards assume that fireworks will be added or hours extended but really we shouldn't assume. Yes it is notmal practice and we have all become accustomed to it but planning for information that is released and not what my change at 60 or 30 days just leads to heartbreak. So did you want a call that said sorry the park is still closeing at 7 as originally advertised, there are still no fireworks, but you will still be able to go to your ADR so basically we aren't changing anything.

Never mind when and how it was announced. You have to figure out what you want to do now. I would plan on HS a different day so you can watch the fireworks. Keep trying to switch your sci fi adr. Something will probably come up eventually. And honestly, sci fi is pretty cool but not cool enough to make or break a vacation.

We went to SciFi on Thanksgiving and it was MEH. I've been there 7 or 8 times, each time I go the quality decreases. The place looks cool but you're not missing much.

The fireworks are really nice. I'd switch days so you can see them.

OP, sympathize for your frustration. For a while now, WDW has not been releasing the main focus of their schedule - finalized hours and evening entertainment, until 1 - 2 months prior. You *can* make ADRs at 180 days, but need to remain flexible to get them changed to align with the schedule releases. FWIW, I agree with PP. Sci-Fi is fun. I like it for lunch, when it's really hot outside and you need A/C. But, there is nothing particularly special about the food and the Star Wars show is much more special. I would switch your days.

Unless I am totally mistaken, there were no fireworks scheduled for this particular day, and the park was scheduled to be closed at 7. The OP made plans based on the assumptipon that there WOULD be a fireworks show.
I think that making plans based on speculation is the issue here.

I agree that in many cases Disney holds back information that can make planning difficult, but what was held back here? Do park guests now need a message from Disney that nothing has changed in park hours or shows on any given day, but if they want to add on to the day they can purchase an after hours hard ticket?

I sympathize with the OP, but I do not understand that she is mad. My last trip we had no idea what was going to happen in DAK< so I made plans that worked for the hours scheduled. If ROL had been released, I woudl have had to decide if we needed to make changes, but no way was I going to make plans based on what I hoped worth happen.

I think we're saying the same thing. Schedules are finalized about 1-2 months out by WDW, so that's when plans have to be done or re-done. She did them 6 months before, which doesn't work anymore. She's now going to have to choose between the ADR and the show. I suggest she chooses the show.
