So let's say...

We have never been to DW by ourselves before. Every time we have gone we have had either my cousin and his family or my BFF and her family with us. This time we booked our trip alone for 7 WHOLE DAYS of DW all by our lonesome!
Well the next thing I know, my DMIL drops the bomb that her and DFIL want to join us!!!!!!:scared1:
I had to put my foot down and as politely as I could I told them that we had never had a family vacation alone before and maybe next time we could all go together. DMIL sulked for a week or so but she got over it. DFIL was relieved b/c he puckered up when he found out how much it costs to go to DW!

EMom - Yikes! Crazy stalker family that dumps another family to infringe on your vacation! :scared1:
When we got home from our first group trip DH made me change the ring tone on my phone because EVERY TIME we got "separated" from our friends during the trip they would immediately call my phone and ask us where we were. It got to the point where hearing my phone made DH twitchy.

I imagine since we have been on vacation together before they figured it wouldn't be a problem to come on this one, too. Note that they have been on LOTS of vacations and I have never announced that we will come along.

Kathi OD - Yes, no good deed goes unpunished is right! :rotfl:

Stashbin - I am glad your IL's respected your request! :thumbsup2

I really have no idea what to make of it. We always get together for dinner just before Christmas so if I don't hear anything by the end of next week I guess I will e-mail and invite them to dinner. I won't mention the trip.

OMY!!! I think you should consider last week's meal your before Christmas dinner. :rolleyes1

Why do people feel it's okay to invite themselves along on a vacation? :confused3 I don't care how close they are, it's something that should be discussed together and decided together and then planned together.

I hope it all works out for you. Good luck!!!! :flower3:
What she said!! I don't know why either. If they happened to notice the "deer caught in headlights look" that we all get when this occurs, then it would be a non-issue. Some folks just don't pay attention to body language or words, or LACK of words.

I would EXCEPT we always exchange gifts. AND they bought dinner last time so I made them promise that they will let us pick up the tab when we go out for our Christmas dinner. It would be beyond tacky not to invite them for dinner at this point.

See, I am thinking one of them noticed and pointed it out to the other one afterwards. I am wondering if that is why I haven't heard from them.

UGH!! I agree about the tacky thing (although they were quite tacky to invite themselves on your vacation). I'm thinking that somehow you've got to make this friendship a little less important or they'll be driving you crazy for the rest of your lives.

Then there's that...:rolleyes1
