So I've been doing the South Beach diet for a week and a half now....

....I've lost about 7 pounds so far... Doing great on the meals, it's been actually quite easy to plan and prepare these "carbless" meals, actually...

...so this afternoon I decided to try the recipe for "Vanilla Ricotta Creme" dessert that is in the South Beach Diet book. Several women I work with have tried them and said they were good!

Well I just made up two servings... one for me, and one for DH who is also doing South Beach... and after tasting a few bites of it, all I could think of was THIS smiley face:

:crazy2:

LOL! YUCK! I made it exactly according to the recipe, except I bought fat-free ricotta instead of the part-skim that the recipe called for. Do you really think a few grams of fat would make that big of a difference, or do you think it's safe to assume that I just don't like this "dessert"??? LOL DH doesn't like it either. LOL I thought the fat-free would be OK because I love skim milk. lol

Not sure about the recipe, but wanted to congratulate you on a job well done so far!! Keep up the great work! :)

I really dislike when a recipe turns out terrible, especially after others have raved about it.

A great big CONGRATULATIONS on your loss to date, that is really terrific.:cheer2:

I just wanted to congratulate you on losing 7 pounds! That is awesome!

Thanks everyone :) I'm feeling very encouraged to continue :) And on Friday we move to Phase II of the diet, and we can add in fruit, and high-fiber carbs, so that'll be good. lol Blech, I can't believe that ricotta "dessert" was so gross! LOL

I find a major difference between the taste of fat free and low fat.

Hi!

Ricotta cheese has one use in life - stuffing pasta or lining lasagna. When I tried that dessert I about gagged, then went back to counting out my 30 pistachios...

But my favorite snack is coming up for you soon: dark chocolate covered strawberries! I bought that baker's chocolate in the microwaveable container & had many a happy evening dipping strawberries!

You are doing great on South Beach.

I have to agree! The next time I see ricotta cheese, it'd better be peeking out from the end of a manicotti! :rotfl:

Today I bought a few things in preparation of starting Phase II on Friday. I bought the cereal "Uncle Sam". My DS16 tried it (he put a couple of packets of SweetNLow on it) and he actually liked it and ate the entire bowl! LOL I'm glad he tried it first because I was a little afraid of what it might taste like. lol

I also bought "natural" peanut butter. It actually was pretty good once I was able to stir all the separated oil into it. LOL

I did see the recipe for the chocolate-covered strawberries, they look GREAT!!!

I combine the South Beach with the Fat Flush diet and exercise and works wonderful, I am 66 and its harder to lose weight but these two diets which both are low carb and no white foods work.
